SOCHI, October 21 – RIA Novosti. The largest youth event ends on Saturday in Sochi: the official closing ceremony of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students will be held at the Bolshoi Ice Palace, in which Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part.
The festival officially opened in Sochi last Sunday. In total, according to the organizers, 25 thousand people from 188 countries of the world took part in it, as well as five thousand volunteers. Initially it was planned that the number of participants would be 20 thousand, but it arrived larger number guests.

The topics of lectures and panel discussions touched on six topics that are relevant to all humanity: ecology, poverty, education, energy, information and science. The closing day of the festival is also notable for the fact that it will be dedicated to Russia Day. Previously, the festival hosted days of the Middle East, Europe, America, Asia and Oceania.
Among the “star” guests with whom the participants talked were: French writer Frederic Beigbeder, motivational speaker Nick Vujicic, as well as famous athletes and models, actors and directors, singers and musicians. Also popular were Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Duma Committee on international affairs Leonid Slutsky - there were long queues for panel discussions with them, and afterward the participants did not let go of the speakers for a long time, taking selfies with them.
After the opening, Putin still had time to have a long conversation with the participants, and on Thursday communicate with them in a more informal setting. After his speech at the final meeting of the Valdai Club, he went into the cafe where the participants were relaxing and talked with them.
60 years have passed since Russia first became the host of the World Festival (as part of the USSR). History repeated itself in 1985, and both times the palm branch went to Moscow. But this time Sochi received the right to host the festival, where the main events took place in the Olympic Park.
Last Saturday, Moscow welcomed an equally large-scale event: in the capital, to commemorate the start of the festival, a 35,000-strong column of Russian students and 450 delegates from all over the world marched in a solemn procession from Vasilyevsky Spusk to the Luzhniki sports complex. The procession presented the best world carnival traditions, including Venetian, Brazilian and Indian. In the evening in the Russian capital there was festive concert, and the events ended with festive fireworks.
The first World Festival of Youth and Students took place in 1947 in Prague. Until now, it is considered the longest in the history of the festival movement - almost six weeks. The first festival in Moscow, in 1957, also distinguished itself: it was the largest in history - 34 thousand people from 131 countries.

It was then that Soviet students became acquainted with rock and roll, jeans and Western values, which so impressed the young Soviet people, that at the subsequent event in 1985, the authorities made every effort to limit the communication of our citizens with foreigners.
In 2017, the organizers tried to think through the festival’s event plan in such a way that young journalists, athletes, engineers, entrepreneurs, representatives of the creative field and programmers, scientists, teachers, as well as leaders of youth organizations and political parties We spent the most effective and interesting time exchanging useful experiences. In May 2016, in Caracas (Venezuela), at a vote of the festival’s preparatory committee, the decision was unanimously approved to hold the 2017 forum in sunny and hospitable Sochi, since after the 2014 Olympics the city has all the necessary infrastructure corresponding to the scale of the event, which will help significantly save organizational costs. The most colorful people gathered at Medals Plaza musical groups out of eight federal districts countries. The festival participants received performances from the ensemble “Red Beads” from Khabarovsk and “Koritev” from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the famous “Buranovskie Babushki” from the Volga region, Russian folk choir them. A large rock orchestra led by Alexander and Nikita Pozdnyakov, consisting of festival participants, appeared on the stage. During the show he performed worldwide famous hits in rock arrangements. In total, more than 5,000 volunteers were involved in the festival of youth and students. Among them are 11 volunteers from Khakassia. The guys accompanied Russian and foreign delegations, worked in canteens, educational and entertainment venues, organized the transfer and registration of participants, created the mood for everyone who just passed by.

In addition, other tasks for spectators were displayed on the screens: participants were asked to make a wave, freeze like a mannequin in a certain position, and also hug or kiss the person sitting next to them.
The closing ceremony once again emphasized that if a person has a dream, then nothing will stop him from making it come true. At one point in the evening, WFYS-2017 participant from Chad Ndolegulum Jasrabe Hervé appeared on stage and performed unofficial anthem festival It was Hervé's dream to perform the song at the closing ceremony of the festival, and now this dream has come true.
— The problem is acute in Chad modern technologies, they are practically not integrated into life in the country. Therefore, young people often feel lonely and abandoned, and I decided to write this song so that people around the world will pay attention to us and perhaps support us.
