It's probably hard to find more beautiful flower than a rose, right? The rose always evokes interest and admiration; it is not for nothing that the rose has become a symbol of expressing one’s love and sympathy. It's not surprising that many people want to learn how to draw a rose. Is it difficult to do? Absolutely not. In this article we will show several examples that will allow you to draw your first rose in just a few minutes. There are more complex examples where the rose becomes real a work of art. Numerous video tutorials on drawing a rose will also help with this, where drawing masters willingly demonstrate their skills in drawing such a beautiful color.

First of all, you need to carefully study what the flower itself and its leaves look like, what its shape is - simple or complex. It is important to analyze the arrangement of rose petals and clarify the nuances that affect the shape. Finally, study the details - the jagged edges, veins and cutouts, and all those little details that make the rose so unique.

Drawing a rose is not that difficult if you do it consistently. Let's see how you can draw a rose in a simple sketch.

How to draw a rose: sketch

When everything is clear with the image of the flower, you need to create a draft version of it, and then change the complexity of the drawing. You need to start sequentially with simple shapes, as illustrated in the figure below.

The construction lines must be removed with an eraser, after which the resulting image is outlined with a regular contour line. Then you need to add the corresponding details of the rose and leave in the drawing only those things that will make the rose even better.

Before you start drawing, you should study the main features of the flower. Place the rose in front of the color source so that the light and shadow areas stand out best. This way you can study the placement of petals and leaves in more detail, and also learn to perceive their shapes more harmoniously.

How to draw a rose with a pencil

In this example, we will look at a more mature drawing of a rose. Initially, you need to decide exactly how the rose will be drawn, how it will be positioned taking into account the horizon, and find out the shape and dimensions of its components. Some of the rose petals and leaves are located at the back and will therefore only be partially visible in the drawing. It wouldn't hurt to make a few quick sketches roses from different sides.

Choose the side where the flower looks best. If the rosebud is quite complex, then it is important to correctly indicate its proportions. To do this, study how the leaves, stem and bud relate to each other in size and size.

Now that the most spectacular side of the rose has been selected, you can begin drawing. Do not be distracted by various details and look more at the rose itself than at the drawing. It is advisable to stand in one place, because if you move or bend over to study the details of the rose, the point of view of the object will change, and the drawing will ultimately turn out incorrect, especially in terms of the relationship of its parts.

Once you've figured out the composition and made the outlines, draw the general parts of the flower head and its key components, carefully observing the proportions. Next you should show the structure of the bud and the relationship of tones, add leaves and stem and some general details.

Add a variety of details to the drawing that emphasize the shape of the flower. Use tone to create the shape and carefully work out all the components of the rose in the foreground. All details must complement each other. Often, an inexperienced artist, when trying to draw a rose, selects a certain detail and carefully draws it, but simply adds the rest, without careful elaboration.

As you can see, drawing a rose is not difficult at all. But this is just the beginning - let's look at other examples of how you can draw this amazing flower.

Method one

Let's prepare everything necessary materials- pencil, eraser, paper. I draw on graphics tablet, if you have one, then you won’t need everything listed above - use your computer and a manipulator. We start drawing from the center. Small smooth lines point towards the center with their tips, and the edges should be rounded and resemble rose petals.

Around the outlined center we add several more layers of petals. They don't have to be perfectly straight, try to do it as shown in the picture below, add lines one by one.

Gradually we add even more petals, and our flower becomes more and more like a real rose. By the way, if you love nature and plants, then I recommend that you think about gluing photo wallpaper flowers on the wall: not only does it look amazing, but you can also always have an excellent reference before your eyes.

We bring our rose petals to the right size. But the resulting flower is not finished yet, so I add a few leaves around the edges. The edges should be uneven, and do not forget to draw neat veins so that the flower looks natural.

Color the flower to your liking.

Method two

The second method of drawing a rose is a little more complicated, but the result is much more impressive. We start drawing a rose from the middle. Gradually we build the shape of the bud.

Adding petals different sizes. Try to focus more on the picture while learning, and after you have learned, you can experiment.

We build the final shape using randomly located leaves. I also shade the areas that will be shaded.

The world around us is beautiful and amazing, every moment just begs to be put on canvas... But while you are not yet a seasoned artist, but just learning, it is best to start not with a panoramic picture, but, for example, with a flower. A lesson on how to draw a rose will teach you this art step by step.

There are many different ways drawing, which means there are many options for depicting the “cap” of a flower. By the end of the lesson, you will know exactly how to draw a rose with a pencil. Look at the example of a blossoming bud presented here. This is what your final version should look like.

You can start drawing from any point: from the center or from the outer contour. Great value it doesn't have. Draw a pear-shaped object. This will be the main shape from which the charming flower head will gradually “bloom”. Like that:

It's time to gradually start adding petals. Notice that they all seem to turn outward. This is achieved by smooth curved lines that “embrace” the main shape.

While learning the simple science of how to draw a rose, pay attention to the characteristic lines, gradually adding new petals to the bud:

On at this stage the shape of the rose is already clearly visible, but this is more of a sketch than a drawing. The rose will finally take its form when the last, large, already opened petals are applied.

Until now, the leading role in the depiction of a flower has been assigned a simple pencil. It's time to move on to the part of the lesson that explains how to draw a rose in color. For this you will need a pink pencil. Use it to trace the outline of the sketch, and carefully erase the lines from a simple slate. In this case, the colored line will also, of course, be erased, but it will still remain.

Now the most enjoyable stage of the process called "How to draw a rose" - coloring! It's time to shade the petals. But first you need to pay attention to those areas that will remain the brightest, and therefore the lightest, almost white. It is most convenient to begin applying color with faint shading on the darkest areas in subsequent places.

Don't think too much about the petal shading technique. Do as you please, observing the main condition: the brightest areas should remain almost white, and the darkest areas should remain rich pink. The transition from light to dark should be gradual.

This is roughly what the main layer should look like. Ours is pink. Despite the fact that the painted rose has become recognizable, it is not the final version yet.

At the end - finishing with a red pencil. Scarlet strokes in the direction of petal growth in the most shaded places will make the rose more expressive.

To draw a rose you don't need exact recipe with the required amount of application of one color or another. Rely on your own taste, because you are an artist, and you know better how your rose should look!
