Golden Meadow

We lived in the village. PIn front of the window we had a meadow, all golden with many blooming dandelions. It was very beautiful. Everyone said: “Very beautiful! The meadow is golden.” One day I got up early to fish and noticed that the meadow was not golden, but green. When I returned home around noon, the meadow was again all golden. I began to observe. By evening the meadow turned green again. Then I went and found a dandelion, and it turned out that it had squeezed its petals, as if our fingers on the palm side were yellow; clenching them into a fist, we would close the yellow one. In the morning, when the sun rose, I saw the dandelions opening their palms, and this made the meadow turn golden again.
Since then, the dandelion has become one of the most interesting flowers for us, because it went to bed with us children and got up with us.

M. Prishvin in his stories conveys boundless love and admiration for all living things on our earth. Each of his stories is filled great feeling, which he experiences while in the forest or walking through a meadow.

In the story “Golden Meadow” Prishvin recalls his childhood. Even as a child, the writer learned to notice everything unusual around him. He and his brother often walked or played in the meadow that was located next to their house. At first, the guys were very indifferent to flowers and plants. They picked dandelions in order to blow fluff in each other's faces. The boys did not notice anything unusual in these interesting plants.

But one day little Prishvin saw these simple flowers differently. In the spring, everyone called the meadow in front of his house golden. A huge number of dandelions blossomed their yellow hats and everything around became bright and beautiful. Early in the morning the boy went fishing and noticed that the meadow was green. After fishing, a miracle happened: everything around became golden again. The child began to observe this unusual phenomenon. In the evening he went out into the meadow, which turned green again. The boy looked closely at the flower and understood everything. When there was no sun in the sky, the flower clenched like a man's hand into a fist. He hid his yellow flower as if he was going to bed. In the morning, Prishvin first rushed to the meadow to admire the transformation of the dandelions: everything was turning golden again.

The writer compares dandelions to children. He says that these beautiful flowers and children go to bed at the same time. And, in the morning, like the guys, they wake up and open up to the new day.

Since then, dandelion has become the brothers' favorite flower. They happily woke up in the morning to watch the meadow turn from ordinary to golden.

The author is trying to show us that everything in nature is not just like that. Every phenomenon has its own cause. It is necessary to take care of even the most inconspicuous flower and the smallest insect. By showing us the simplest plants from an unusual side, Prishvin wants to instill in all people a love of nature. It is necessary to be attentive to the world of wildlife around us, to appreciate plants and animals and take care of them.
