Character history. Black Cloak - drake superhero, Walt Disney cartoon character Evil Black Cloak

Created by the famous Walt Disney company in the wake of the success of DuckTales. It tells the adventures of the superhero drake and his friends. Although this cartoon is an independent work with original characters, an attentive viewer noticed parodies of comic book stars. Most of the characters in the cartoon "Black Raincoat" are ducks, followed by dogs and other animals.

Main character

The main character of "Black Cloak" is a mysterious superhero drake who protects the city and its civilians. In ordinary life his name is Kryak Lapchaty. A kind, caring, but strict father, a loyal friend. He has a talent for getting into unpleasant situations, but miraculously manages to get out of them. It consists of a black cloak, a black wide-brimmed hat, a jacket and a mask.

At the very beginning, Quack meets another character from “Black Cloak” - Gusena, whom he later adopts. The super-drake is also helped by his friend, the drake-pilot Zigzag, who created for him a plane in the shape of a duck’s head, the Thunderquack. The main character does not have physical super strength, but he is a master of martial arts. The support of his family and friends also helps him in the fight against evil.

Inner circle of the super drake

In addition to the super drake, the main characters of "Black Cloak" are:

  • Zigzag McCrack is the best friend of the emergency. Talented mechanic and pilot. He copes with piloting any aircraft, but he has difficulty landing.
  • Gusena Lapchataya is Quack's adopted daughter. A very restless and inquisitive little duck. At first, Black Cloak did not want to keep her precisely because of her restlessness. She is a loyal friend, a loving and caring daughter. She often gets into trouble because of her desire to prove that she is smart and mature.

Neutral heroes

Such characters in “The Black Cloak” include Quack Handy’s neighbors, Muddlefoot.

Other superheroes

Also, the characters in "Black Cloak" are other superheroes who have become parodies of famous comic book characters.

  1. Morgana McCuber or MacAbre is a witch and former villain. But meeting the Black Cloak changed her attitude: she took the side of good. Later she became the girlfriend of Quack Lapchaty.
  2. Supercrack - his origin story is shown in more detail in DuckTales. It has armor with many different weapons built into it, and it moves not on its paws, but on one wheel. Constantly competes with Black Cloak. Supercrack is a parody of Iron Man and other cyborg heroes.
  3. Kometchik is a superhero who mistakenly flew to Earth from another planet. He is distinguished by super strength, but at the same time he is naive and gullible. Is a parody of Superman.

Participants of Sh.U.Sh.U

Below is a list of Black Cloak characters who are part of the secret organization. It is a parody of government leadership in the Marvel Universe.

  1. Edgar Klüver is the head of the organization.
  2. Agent Grizzlies - a bear, always follows the rules of S.U.S.U. Therefore, he did not like Black Cloak, which violated him.
  3. G. Blunt - rooster, agent of S.U.S.U. An actor by profession. Like Grizzly, he had a strained relationship with Black Cloak. But then they became friends.

Main villain

He was Antiplasch, as is already clear from his name - the complete opposite of the main character. He is the antipode of Quack from a parallel world, although he also has an adopted daughter. He has an evil, insidious character, is very smart and calculating.

His main goal is to defeat Black Cloak. His frequent weapon is a chainsaw. Although initially in the comics he was not as cruel as in the animated series.

Negative heroes

Of course, among “Black Cloak” one cannot fail to note the villains with whom the main character fights. Below are a few of these characters:

  1. Reginald Bushroot is a former scientist. Due to a failed experiment, he became half a plant. Because of this, he gained the ability to control plants. Bushrut commits unseemly acts not out of greed, like other villains, but out of loneliness and a desire to protect nature.
  2. Megavolt is a rat villain with the ability to control electricity. He studied in the same class with Black Cloak, their first fight took place at the graduation party. In addition to money, he likes to steal various electrical appliances and light bulbs.
  3. Professor Moliarti is the brilliant leader of a gang of moles and has a higher education. His dream is to make life on the surface suitable for moles. His name is derived from the word "mole" and the surname of the main villain of the books about Sherlock Holmes - Moriarty. The similarity with this character is emphasized by the genius of Moliarti.

Of course, these are not all the names of the characters in “Black Cloak”; the most striking and memorable characters were chosen. The cartoon, thanks to its original plot and interesting parodies of superheroes, has become popular among viewers all over the world.

Black Cloak

Main article Black Cloak (character)

Black Cloak

Black Cloak(eng. Darkwing Duck, voiced by Vladimir Radchenko, Valery Kukhareshin in the series “Restaurant “Quiet Backwater””, “Mysterious Fossil”) (real name - Kryak Lapchaty) - a superhero waging an irreconcilable fight against evil. In ordinary life, a simple citizen of Saint-Canard is Kryak Lapchaty. He firmly believes that he is the only righteous resident of his city, that he is the hero whom everyone should respect. The black cloak loves flattery, fame, and wealth. He also likes to stand out from the crowd. But, despite all these qualities, Quack is very kind. He considers his main goal in life to be the fight against evil. The Black Cloak has an adopted daughter, Gusyon. Before meeting Zigzag and Gusena, Quack lived in a high tower on the main bridge of the city, but after that he has a full-fledged home. The tower remains the headquarters of the Black Cloak. First appeared in the episode "Darkly Dawns the Duck." Part 1".

Gusena Palmata

Gusena Palmata

Gusena Palmata(Gosalyn Mallard, voiced by Lyudmila Ilyina, Ksenia Brzhezovskaya in the series “Restaurant “Quiet Backwater””, “Mysterious Fossil”) - the adopted daughter of Kryak Lapchaty, a very athletic and restless 9-year-old girl who often gets into trouble. In everyday life, Gusena wears a purple T-shirt with the number “1” and sneakers. Unlike Black Cloak, she has thick red hair and large green eyes.

In early childhood, she lost her biological parents, and she was raised by her grandfather, Professor Kryaknshtein. After his death, as a result of an accident, she ended up in an orphanage. Before his death, the professor invented a secret weapon for the government - a ramrod, capable of breaking gravitational bonds to molecular levels and resolving bodies of shape and weight. Major mafioso Taras Bulba stole it, but it turned out that a password was required to activate the weapon. Gusyona was a kind of “artifact”; according to Taras Bulba, she supposedly must know the secret code for the deadly device. However, Gusena did not know the password, since her grandfather simply did not tell his granddaughter anything. Therefore, Taras Bulba decided to kidnap Gusena and torture her to find out her password. The black cloak had no choice but to save Gusyona.

At first, Quack wanted to get rid of her quickly, since Gusena was restless and simply bored him. But later, after spending a long time together, Quack became attached to Gusyona, and she, in turn, became attached to him. After defeating Taras Bulba, Kryak decided to adopt Gusyona. And then, starting from the third episode, Quack and Gusyona live in perfect harmony. Knowing her father’s secret, Gusena herself repeatedly tried to fight crime. In the episode "Dances with Bigfoot", Gusena appeared in the form of a mysterious superhero - Red Mask. In later episodes, due to her growing interest in archery, she calls herself Quack-Winged Quiver. This image is gaining incredible success among comic book fans. In it, Gusena prevents a number of crimes: the destruction of the Natural History Museum, the flooding of Saint-Canard with sewage waste. She also managed to eliminate the Blob Phoenix. It is worth noting Gusena’s intellectual abilities. Despite her lack of interest in studying, her deductive and logical thinking is no less developed, and maybe more than that of the emergency worker.

Interesting Facts:
  • Gusena is a champion in the game “Postrel”.
  • Her favorite sport is hockey.
  • In an alternative world, there is a double of Gusena, her complete opposite: sweet and obedient.
  • Gusena often suffers from attacks of somnambulism.

Her first appearance in the animated series was in the episode “Darkly Dawns the Duck.” Part 1".

Zigzag McCrack

Zigzag McCrack

Zigzag McCrack(Launchpad McQuack, voiced by Yuri Volyntsev, Sergey Parshin in the episodes “Restaurant “Quiet Backwater””, “Mysterious Fossil”) - partner of the Black Cloak. He is a professional at flying any aircraft, but he has difficulty landing. Zigzag is an excellent mechanic. He designed and built the Thundercracker himself. Zigzag has a large family: his father is ….., his mother is Ptashka and his younger sister is Pelka. They are all excellent pilots. Zigzag's great-great-great-grandfather, Rubard McCryak, was a general, commander and participant in the battle for Duck Valley.

As a child, Zigzag was afraid of heights, which was terrible for the son of a pilot, and his father, in order to save him from this shameful misfortune, began to take him on flights. During one of these flights, he fell out of the plane, but, fortunately, he was picked up by an alien named Tia. She gave him the joy of flying, and he taught her how to have fun. But she was taken away, and Zigzag’s memory was erased. Now Tia is the queen of the galaxy. She invited Zigzag to marry her and become the king of the galaxy, but he, afraid to take such a serious step, refused (episode "U.F. Foe").

Zigzag's first demonstration flight with his family was a complete failure. Here's how Zigzag himself talks about this event:

A long time ago, far from here, in the vast sky, we were called the “Flying McCracks.” One day there was an air festival on the coast, and the Flying McCracks were the highlight of the program. The audience was eagerly awaiting the final number, entitled “Storm of the Cowshed.” At first everything went well: we all dived onto the target. Dad was the first to perform with his number - it would never have happened in my life! Then mom demonstrated the storming of the barn - you have never seen anything like this in your life! But, I ruined everything! Messed up everything! More than ever. Luckily the pig wasn't hurt, but I couldn't look Mom and Dad in the eye. After parting with my parents, I went my own way. Apparently, it was written in my nature to crash alone for the rest of my days.

Having performed the most difficult trick, “Triple low-level flip with a loop and a knot,” Zigzag again earned the pride of his parents and now his relationship with his family is improved.

Zigzag met Black Cloak when he fell into his hangar. It turned out that Zigzag is a fan of his, and even keeps a diary with newspaper clippings. He offered emergency assistance in catching the criminals. At first the hero denied it, saying that he was working alone, but Zigzag’s persistence still prevailed. Now they are not only partners, but also best friends.

Before meeting Black Cloak, he worked as a pilot for Scrooge McDuck in the TV series DuckTales. Thanks to his physical strength, he was Scrooge's guard more than once; later this position was given to Superquack. In the first season of the series “DuckTales” Zigzag is one of the main characters, but appears less often in subsequent episodes.

In the Black Cloak series, Zigzag's design and character changed noticeably: he became more muscular, smarter, and became addicted to cooking. These changes were probably introduced to pacify Black Cloak's pride.

Interesting Facts:
  • Zigzag can't swim.
  • According to his zodiac sign he is Aries

Zigzag is an excellent mechanic. He designed and built the Thundercracker himself. Zigzag first appeared in the animated series “Black Cloak” in the episode “Darkly Dawns the Duck. Part 1"

Ducks of Justice

Morgana Macabre

Morgana Macabre with Archie the Spider

Morgana Macabre(Morgana MacCawber, voiced by Irina Akulova and Olga Gasparova in the series “Ducks of Justice” Part 1 and Part 2, Natalya Danilova in the series “Restaurant “Quiet Backwater””) - a hereditary sorceress, a friend of the Black Cloak.
Morgana is quite tall and wears a long, tattered red dress with shoulder pads and wide sleeves. Her thick black hair, styled up a la Bride of Frankenstein. One of the pieces of the dress is connected to a finger, so that something similar to wings is created. She also has a high collar and a brooch around her neck.

Morgana has a huge family: father Mokolulo; Aunt Horror; Cousin Slizzy; Uncle Nero and Granny. Initially, Morgana was a villain and headed the fraudulent organization "Mushrooms of Macabre", but after meeting the Black Cloak, she took the path of correction and appears as a positive character in further episodes.

It is difficult to talk about the seriousness of the relationship between Morgana and the state of emergency. They see each other extremely rarely, and when they meet, the emergency worker only talks about work. This makes Morgana very nervous. She also doesn’t like that Quack constantly criticizes her culinary preferences and reproaches her for her criminal past. Because of this, they broke up more than once, but not for long. Morgana’s father, Mokolulo Macabre, who can’t stand “normals,” also opposed her romance. She treats Gusena like a daughter.

Morgana inherited her father's hot temper and magical powers. Her spellcasting abilities are not flawless: often the result of a transformation spell is not what was required. In the episode "Monsters R Us", it is revealed that Morgana failed her exams at witchcraft school.

Like any self-respecting sorceress, Morgana has exotic pets: the spider Archie and the bats Ik and Peak.

Neptunia

Neptunia

Neptunia(Neptunia, lake Lyudmila Gnilova) - the mistress of the sea. She joined the Ducks of Justice squad to protect the ocean from pollution and repeatedly made claims: “But, I’m not a duck.” Neptunia can breathe underwater and contact fish with the help of a forge. She usually appears with the octopus Hel.

Once upon a time she was an ordinary fish, but one day, while swimming near the surface, she was poisoned by toxic waste dumped into the water. Under their influence, she mutated into what she is now. So that no fish would share her fate, Neptunia decided to cleanse not only the ocean, but also the city of waste. The measures she wanted to take turned out to be extremely cruel, but, fortunately, Zigzag managed to convince her to retreat.

First appearance: "Something Fishy".

Stegmata

Edgar Klüver

Edgar Klüver(J. Gander Hooter, voiced by Alexey Ivashchenko) - director of the government organization SHUSHU. In the series, he is shown as a serious, thoughtful and educated hero. He looks to be about fifty years old. Unlike his subordinates, he mainly supports the methods of the Black Cloak. His name - J. Gander Hooter - is an allusion to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, which is reflected in the translation of the name.

Agent Trofim Petrovich Grizlikov

Agent Trofim Petrovich Grizlikov(Agent Vladimir Goudenov Grizzlikof, voiced by Boris Bystrov) - a bear, an agent of the SHUSHU organization. Its species explains its great physical strength. Always formally dressed: gray suit, shirt, tie. Age is unknown, but it can be assumed that he was from 45 to 47 years old; in one of the episodes he mentioned that he gave the best years of his life to SHUSH. The Grizzly agent is a born bureaucrat and fanatically follows the regulations, which he also demands from those around him. He speaks with a pronounced Russian accent, and his speech often slips into old proletarian expressions. The agents under his command are an exact copy of himself.

Dr. Sarah Bellum

Dr. Sarah Bellum(Dr. Sarah Bellum, voiced by Svetlana Kharlap and Svetlana Starikova in the series “Paradoxes of Time”) - scientist, assistant to Edgar Kluver. Dr. Sarah Bellum

Her general goal in life is to win the Nobel Prize. For this purpose, she creates the Norma-beam and the Stalker cake launcher. She spends all her free time at work - her personal life is out of the question. Most of her experiments on people and animals end in death. Due to constant stress due to unsuccessful experiments, Sarah acquired bipolar affective personality disorder. So, in the episode “Disguise the Limit”, when the state of emergency had an evil double (Anti-Cloak), Sarah Bellum, in order to save time, decided to kill both of them. In one of the episodes, it turned out that she has a toy - a teddy bear, whose belly is stuffed with deadly weapons. The Supreme Government of SHUSHU, aware of her mental disorders, specifically limits funding for her projects.

First appearance - episode "Just Us Justice Ducks. Part 1".

Muddlefoot family

Herbert Muddlefoot

Herbert Muddlefoot(Herb Muddlefoot, voiced by Efim Katsirov) - Goga’s father, the annoying neighbor of Quack Lapchaty. Herbert is a fairly plump drake of average height. He always wears a green shirt with tropical fruits on it. Has small eyes and thinning hair. The age is approximately the same as that of the state of emergency.

Spouses Herbert and Binky Muddlefoot

Herbert works as a traveling salesman at the Duck Soul company. He was noted as the best traveling salesman of the year, and even the decade. He is a respectable, law-abiding and honest citizen. Cheerful and sociable by nature. A little lazy, likes to lie on the couch in front of the TV. Hospitable. He loves his wife Binky very much.

Binky Muddlefoot

Binky Muddlefoot(Binkie Muddlefoot, voice: Tatyana Shagalova) - Herbert’s wife, housewife. In everyday life, she wears a blue dress, a white apron and shoes. Binky is a kind and caring mother, but a little simple-minded and naive. Once, as a result of being hit by a bowling ball, she became a superhero.

Muddlefoot Tank

Muddlefoot Tank(Tank Muddlefoot) by Tankard Herbert Muddlefoot (Tankard H. "Tank" Muddlefoot) is the eldest son of Herbert and Binky Muddlefoot. He is a bully who often makes life difficult for his neighbor Quack Lapchaty and his younger brother Gogi. Tank is one of the three most physically powerful characters in the animated series (with Kometchik and Taras Bulba). In the anti-world (negaverse), the version of Tank is well-mannered and intelligent, like Goga.

First appearance in the series is in the episode "Night of the Living Spud".

Goga Muddlefoot

Goga Muddlefoot

Goga Muddlefoot(Herbert “Honker” Muddlefoot, Jr., voiced by Olga Kuznetsova) - a nine-year-old schoolboy, the youngest son of the neighbors of the state of emergency (Herbert and Binky Muddlefoot), Gusena’s best friend. He usually wears a green shirt with a button down the middle and wears large round glasses. He is distinguished by incredibly high intelligence for his age, but at the same time he does not know how to lie and is easily persuaded. He is the only one in the family who knows about the secret of the emergency. He himself repeatedly took part in the fight against criminals. In the episodes "Battle of the Brainteasers" and "The Revenge of the Return of the Brainteasers, Too!" Goga independently saved the Earth from the invasion of aliens. Often, when Gusena transformed into a superhero, he played the role of an assistant.

First appearance in the series is in the episode "Night of the Living Spud".

Negative

The Frightful Five

Antiplasch

His plant half is Lyceum nycanthropus. He is a botanist. Bushroot is not one of the massively popular characters in “Black Cloak” among fans of the duck universe; usually the most popular are ChP himself, Zigzag, Megavolt, Antiplasch, Kvaga and Gusyon (usually in that order, but Megavolt and Antiplasch can periodically be attracted in places). Bushroot is able to telepathically control plants, accelerating their growth and metabolism. He can “revive” plants that become his accomplices, for example, trees begin to walk. It has a green “skin” that can absorb light. He has leaves instead of palms on his stems and roots instead of feet, and a purple flower hairstyle on his head.

Bushroot as a weed is very tenacious and regenerates even better than Wolverine and Victor Creed. Even after grinding, it sprouts again when it hits the ground. But, nevertheless, he is afraid of Antiplasch with his chain saw (everyone is afraid of him, even Liquigad - a dog made of water). It also withstands drying out and freezing. Bushroot can create new forms of plants, such as a bush that grows fake green dollars instead of leaves, or creates a vampire potato. Has a pet plant-dog Spike (translated as Nibbler) similar to a Venus flytrap. He is a member of the criminal organization "The Frightful Five". In the parallel negative universe, Bushroot is a positive character and is a member of the “Friendly Four”. Bushroot conducted an experiment on himself and was forever turned into a half-duck, half-plant.

Became a criminal by accident. Colleagues Dr. Gerry and Dr. Larson always mocked him, and Bushroot now decided to answer them using his new talent. And after the mutation, Black Cloak sees only a monster-villain in him. But, nevertheless, three times they united to fight a common enemy. Bushroot is the kindest villain. In the following episodes, Bushroot commits crimes not for selfish reasons, but to finance his experiments.

In love with Dr. Rhoda Dendron. Rhoda was the only person at the university who understood him. But after the mutation, their relationship did not work out. And he kidnapped her to make her a semi-plant so that she would understand him. But Black Cloak and Zigzag saved her. After that, Bushroot never tried to communicate with Rhoda. And he even tried to create a girlfriend out of potatoes, but it turned out to be a monster.

His first appearance is in the episode "Beauty and the Beet".

Liquigad

Liquigad

First appeared in the episode "Water Way to Go".

Ammonia

Ammonia(Ammonia Pine, voiced by Maria Vinogradova and Larisa Danilina in the episodes “The Pureest Dirty”, “Ordered to Remove”) - a crazy cleaning lady, agent V.A.O. N.

This chicken (in the literal sense of the word) dresses in a blue cleaning lady's robe with a white apron, and wears a red scarf with black polka dots on her head. It should be noted that she is quite obese.

Ammonia

Ammonia was an ordinary cleaner in a chemical laboratory, but after inhaling an experimental cleaning product, she became obsessed with cleaning. Membership in V.A.O. helped her realize her potential as a cleaner. N., who apparently financed the creation of her huge cleaning machine, as well as special equipment.

Nashatyrka is crazy, but, nevertheless, she realizes that she is committing crimes. After Nashatyrka failed the task of providing finances to V.A.O. N. and the destruction of Kluver - the director of SHUSH - the leadership of the criminal organization began to trust her less. And although V.A.O. N. still gives Nashatyrka tasks to get money, but now every time he assigns a partner to the crazy woman to monitor the situation.

First appearance - episode "Dirty Money".

Tascrenini

Taskernini(Tuskerninni, voiced by Alexander Klyukvin in the series “Light! Camera! Motor!”, “What’s in your name?”, Yuri Sarantsev in the series “Get Off the Screen”, Alexander Belyavsky in the series “House Fraudster”, Daniil Netrebin in the series “In the lead of fashion” (Full name: Gertman Taskernini) is an unrecognized film director who later took the path of crime.

Dresses in a blue suit. Judging by his manners and speech, one can assume that he is of aristocratic origin.

In the past, Taskernini was a director, but film critics did not recognize his talent, and he took the path of crime. He stages all his crimes with directorial skill. He has three penguin assistants.

Her first appearance in the series is in the episode "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlatan".

Independent villains

Taras Bulba

Taras Bulba(Taurus Bulba, voiced by Andrey Yaroslavtsev in the series “The Secret Becomes Revealed” (episode of 2 parts), Boris Bystrov in the series “Hour of the Bull”) - a rich mafioso planning his crimes in prison.

Taras Bulba before the skyscraper incident

The famous mafioso Taras Bulba was known in the criminal world as a brilliant criminal. And for good reason. While in prison, he runs an illegal business and collaborates with the World Association of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. With just one push of a button from his secretary Clarisse, his prison cell is transformed into a luxury apartment. And the naive prison governor does not even suspect what atrocities are being controlled from his prison. Bulba is truly a genius. He managed to create a flying machine that resembles a bull's head without leaving the camera. Possessing remarkable leadership abilities, Taras created his own organized group or simply a gang, which directly reports to him personally, and not to the leadership of the criminal organization V.A.O. N. clearly distributed the roles between the gang members (for example, Clarisse acts as an accomplice, and the performers are the goat Dubin with his 2 subordinates; the condor Tantle insures them, and also performs tasks related to air travel). Having received a secret military invention - Professor Kryakinshtein's ramrod - Bulba easily escapes from prison according to a pre-prepared plan. With the help of this formidable weapon, the mafia will be able to easily rob US federal banks. It would seem that nothing can stop this Einstein of the criminal world. But Taras Bulba underestimated the aspiring hero Black Cloak. The emergency thwarted his sinister plans, defeated his gang... In desperation, Taras grabbed the hero, hoping that the explosion of a ramrod on the roof of a skyscraper would kill the Black Cloak and himself. The plan was half a success: our Quack survived, but the bandit died under the rubble.

Taras Bulba after the incident on the skyscraper

For a long time, everyone believed Taras Bulba died as a result of an explosion on the roof of the tallest building in Saint-Canard. But it was not so. After an explosion on the roof of a skyscraper, the leadership of V.A.O. N. gave the order to remove the body of the bull from under the rubble. They kept him alive in a special pressure chamber. When Black Cloak became a real threat to V.A.O. N., thwarting their sinister plans one after another, the leadership decided to direct all efforts to create a cyborg from Bulba (the worst enemy of the state of emergency) in order not only to restore lost positions in the criminal world, but also to strengthen. But they miscalculated. Taras Bulba was resurrected, but he was full of hatred not only for the state of emergency, but also for V.A.O. N. Promising to take revenge on them later, he went in search of an emergency. Having once again kidnapped Gusyon, the cyborg was deciding what to do about the emergency. His hatred simply knew no bounds. The emergency plan was simple: lure Bulba out into the rain so that he would rust. This plan was approximately successful. Quack threw the villain into a waterfall. But V.A.O. It was not in vain that N. invested so much money in Taras Bulba’s project. It turned out to be stainless steel. Defeated, but not broken, Taras promised revenge and flew away using a kind of rocket pack with wings. The state of emergency failed to arrest the former authority...

Black Cloak is the main character of the animated series Darkwing Duck, created by the Walt Disney Company and nominated for an Emmy Award. It aired from 1991-1995 in the US on The Disney Afternoon and on Sunday mornings on ABC. The main character of the series is a mysterious superhero drake named Black Cloak (his real name is Kryak Lapchaty), who was voiced in Russia by actor Vladimir Radchenko (in the original English version - Jim Cummings).

Source: animated series "Black Cloak" (1991-1995)

The black cloak is waging an irreconcilable fight against the villains of the city of Saint-Canard. Although not possessing great physical strength, he masters martial arts and relies on technical devices and the support of friends. A master at finding trouble and getting out of it. In one of the episodes, as a result of moving to the future, Gusyony became obsessed with the rules and turned into the Black Warrior, but after the return of his daughter, everything fell into place. Zigzag calls the Black Cloak an emergency (for convenience).

Broadcasts in Russia

The animated series premiered in Russia on January 3, 1993 on the RTR television channel in the program “The Magical World of Disney.” In 1993-1994, the first 89 episodes were translated and shown. Later, the episodes were repeated on the STS channel in the “Disney Hour” section in 1997-1998 and on Channel One as part of the “Disney Club” program in the 2000s, with a significant break in the show lasting several years. After the re-broadcast of the episodes translated in the 90s, in February 2008, the Disney Club program on Channel One premiered the last 2 episodes - “The Quiet Backwater Restaurant” and “The Mysterious Fossil” - in the 2007 translation from studio "Nevafilm". From December 21, 2008 to May 28, 2009, the series was broadcast on weekdays at 15:30, and later at 15:00 on the STS channel.

About the animated series

The success of the animated series DuckTales led to the creation of a series in the same universe, Black Cape, which ended after one year of broadcasting. The creation of Blackcoat was inspired by two previously aired DuckTales episodes - "Duck Agent Two Zero" and "The Masked Drake". As the beloved hero, the “star” of the series “DuckTales”, the would-be pilot Zigzag McCrack, who previously worked for Scrooge McDuck and appears in some episodes of Fenton Quackshell, known as the superhero Duckrobot in “DuckTales”, migrated to the animated series “Black Cape”. and Superquack in "Black Cape".

This cartoon, which is independent, with original main characters and plots of the series, at the same time parodies many famous superheroes and super-villains - some similarities between the characters and their prototypes are obvious, some are presented subtly, some - sharply. ChP's costume, gas pistol, and unusual agility all portray heroes such as Crimson Avenger, Shadow, and Green Hornet. The fictional city of Saint-Canard and the Black Cloak's defense of it from dangerous criminals is similar to Batman's fight against enemies in Gotham.

Russian voice acting delights the viewer's ears not only with well-chosen voices, but also with wordplay that was preserved during translation. The very nickname of the main character of the emergency implies the ability of this character to get into unpleasant situations and skillfully extricate himself from them. There are also times when Black Cloak can be called a walking "Emergency". His very name - Kryak Lapchaty - is “speaking”, and, in addition to him, there are such names and surnames as Zigzag, Gusyona, Pad Flood - Likvigad and others. Some names have been changed, some have been translated verbatim, and some have simply been transferred. In the English version, almost every character had a name consisting of one or more words that had their own meaning, which characterized the hero or described his appearance (Darkwing Duck - translated as Dark-winged Duck, Drake Mallard - Wild Drake, Bushroot: bush - bush, root - root, Liquidator: liquid - liquid, liquidator - liquidator (pun) and much more). Nicknames and names were slightly modified, but the whole meaning was preserved.

The song “Black Cloak” for the Russian titles of the series was performed by Murat Nasyrov.

Enemies of the Black Cloak

The Fearsome Five

Antiplasch (Negaduck, voiced by Vladimir Radchenko, Alexey Zolotnitsky in the series “Prisoner”, “Quack-Winged Quiver”, “Curse of the Sorcerer”, Stanislav Kontsevich in the series “Restaurant “Quiet Backwater”) - the main villain, outwardly like two peas in a pod similar to Black Cloak (not counting the color of the suit), but completely opposite in character: he is a dangerous criminal who carries a huge number of different weapons. Mortally hates Black Cloak. Why he looks like an emergency, many versions have been given - either he is his evil twin, or his version from Antiworld, or just a random double. But in the Anticloak series, the state of emergency falls under the Megavolt separator and is divided into two personalities - good and bad. After this, the “bad” Black Cloak falls under the effect of the separator again and becomes Antiplasch, the most destructive villain in the cartoon.

Megavolt (vocal: Vadim Andreev) - real name: Elmo Sputterspark. The criminal rat who commands electricity; in addition to money, he really likes to steal light bulbs and electrical appliances (in the Russian translation in one of the episodes he is called an “electrical crook”); A former classmate of Black Cloak, he first fought with him at the prom. History of creation

The concept of "Black Cloak" arose from the previous series " DuckTales"; appearance of characters from the latter (including Zigzag McCrack and Fenton Quackshell) formed the popular belief that there was a shared universe for both series; despite this, Ted Stones in an interview for the magazine The Hollywood Reporter considers the settings of both projects to be separate from each other; Stones' statement caused controversy among fans.

It all started when Ted Stones wanted to create an animated series about a superhero like Batman , Shadow or Green Hornet, only funnier. In the end, ducks were chosen as characters. It was decided that the animated series would take place in the same universe as " DuckTales", and some characters will be transferred to "Black Cloak". One of these characters was Zigzag McCrack. The creator also admitted that from childhood he saw the image of a superhero like Black Cloak: “ Such characters have always been more interesting to me than, for example, Superman, because they have a wider range of emotions, the expression of which has no boundaries. It is much more interesting and fun to look at a character who has no physical limitations».

October 4, 2019 at the festival Comic-Con Russia Stones said that the series was originally supposed to be a parody of Bond movie called “Zero-Zero-Duck”: “I didn’t really understand the idea and did everything according to my vision. The head of Disney also thought that the story about a secret agent lacked family. The project about a secret agent was given to another manager, who proposed making a superhero out of Bond the Duck. But the story still lacked warmth. Everything changed when we came up with Gusyona, the adopted daughter of the Black Cloak.” It was a "What if Batman had a daughter who didn't want to stay at home" kind of idea. As a result, the name "Zero-Zero-Duck" was abandoned due to possible lawsuits over infringement copyright. Which gave Stones the opportunity to make a series in the spirit of the 1950s comic books he grew up reading. The studio organized a naming competition, Alan Burnett’s “Dark Wing” won, “Duck” was added to it - the result was the name of the series familiar to viewers - Darkwing Duck, in Russia changed to “Black Cloak”.

Main character

Black Cloak (real name - Quack Lapchaty) - superhero, who lives in the fictional city of Saint-Canard. But in ordinary life he is not a hero at all, but a simple citizen - Kryak Lapchaty. Black Cloak has an adopted daughter, Gusyon. Before meeting Zigzag and Gusena, Quack lived in a high tower on the main bridge of the city, but later he gets a full-fledged home. The tower remains the headquarters of the Black Cloak. The state of emergency is an ordinary duck, but it stands out from all others by being stretched upward skull. In his usual appearance, Quack wears a pink shirt and a green diamond-patterned vest. In the image of a “fighter against evil,” Quack wears a large hat, a double-breasted jacket with a blue turtleneck, a purple face mask and, of course, your cape. Almost always, before appearing to the villains, Black Cloak releases a smoke bomb into the room and, to make an impression, says the phrase:

I am the horror that flies on the wings of the night. I am Black Cloak!

But very often, after uttering these words, some enemy of the Black Cloak makes a witty joke in response or does not even allow him to finish this phrase, which greatly upsets the Black Cloak. Quack often fails in battles with villains, but eventually defeats them. As a means of transportation, he uses a motorcycle with a sidecar, called the “Ratcatcher”. Moreover, he always puts on a motorcycle helmet when he rides this motorcycle (he doesn’t wear it only in the 1st, 2nd and another episode “The Duck Disappears”). The rest of the heroes wear a helmet sometimes or not at all. At the beginning of the series, Zigzag designed a plane for Black Cloak in the shape of a drake's head - the Thundercrack. A smaller copy of it is used to deliver urgent messages from the organization Sh.U.S.U.

Ted Stones also created a key negative character - Antiplasha, as the opposite of the main character. For this, the author used the image Professor Zuma.

Origin

At the school graduation party, Quack Handy's classmates were attacked by Megavolt and, to protect them, he appeared in the guise of Black Cloak.

Meeting with Gusena

At the beginning of the animated series, Quack meets a little girl named Gusena. The acquaintance turned out to be unplanned; it happened during the course of Quack’s struggle with the main villain of the first two episodes - mafioso Taras Bulba. Gusyona was a kind of “artifact”, according to Taras Bulba, she supposedly should know the secret code for the deadly device that her deceased grandfather invented. However, Gusyona did not know the password, since her grandfather did not tell his granddaughter anything, so Taras Bulba decides to kidnap Gusyona and torture her to find out the password. Black Cloak had no choice but to save Gusyona. At first, Quack wanted to get rid of her quickly, since Gusena was restless and bored him, but later, after a long time together, Quack became attached to Gusena, and she, in turn, became attached to him. After defeating Taras Bulba, Kryak decides to adopt Gusyona. Starting from the third episode, Gusyona lives in Quack's house.

Comics

At the end of 1991 Disney Comics published a 4-issue mini-series of comics, Black Cloak, an adaptation of the Darkly Dawns the Duck script. Also, stories about the Black Cloak were regularly published in the magazine Disney Adventures from November 1991 to January 1996, and in the comic book Disney Afternoon.

Since June 2010 BOOM! Studios began publishing a four-issue comic book miniseries, The Duck Knight Returns, written by Aaron Sparrow, Ian Brill, and artist James Silvani, set a year after the series finale. The first collection book with these 4 issues was published in the fall of 2010. Unlike the original series, the comic emphasized the connection between the Black Cloak universe and the DuckTales universe, introducing many heroes such as Magica de Hypnosis, Scrooge McDuck, and others. A 4-part crossover series called "Dangerous Currency" was released in DuckTales #5 and 6 and Black Coat #17 and 18. The series also featured characters from other Disney universes. The cycle was completed on issue 18 in October 2011 due to loss BOOM! Studios licenses from Disney Comics. The last (November 2011) published in this series was volume #5 of Dangerous Currency, a crossover book.

In 2016, Sparrow and Silvani returned to the comic, and on April 27, the first issue of Orange is the New Purple was published by the company Joe Books. The comic was canceled after issue 8 due to poor sales.

In 2018, a comic book series was released Cinestory Comix .
