Hailing from New Jersey, My Chemical Romance is an alternative pop/rock/punk pop band comparable to Thursday and, to some extent, Cursive. Many of their songs are loud, fast, energetic and aggressive, but My Chemical Romance's work still has a melody and a certain pop feel to it. The lyrics of I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love are dark, introspective and cathartic; Way claimed that the band's lyrics helped him deal with life problems that came his way (including severe depression and serious illnesses in family). Release 2002 included Way and Pelissier's first song, "Skylines and Turnstiles," and many of the album's songs were equally entertaining, including "Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us," "Drowning Lessons," "Headfirst for Halos," "Our Lady of Sorrows," and "Vampires Will Never Hurt You."
