The series is currently Blizzard Entertainment's most successful franchise. The release of each part was a real event for the gaming community. The series consists of three main games: Diablo (1996), Diablo II (2000) and Diablo III (2012). Half-Life 1 and 2

Release date: the first - 1998, the second - 2004.

A series of sci-fi first-person shooters that tell us the story of theoretical physicist Gordon Freeman, who is also the only one who can save the Earth from aliens. The games in the series are almost icons of the genre, largely due to the exciting gameplay, thoughtful level design and unusual plot presentation. In addition, the engine of the second part of the Source game (of course, significantly improved) is even today actively used by game makers to create their projects.

Despite the fact that every game in the Half-Life series is a single-player game, for a certain time Valve has been giving out a modification for co-op absolutely free of charge. In fact, the game becomes reoriented towards two players, receives new puzzles and a number of cooperative opportunities.

Another feature of this series is the possibility of cooperative completion of levels. Players liked the opportunity to smash various monsters to pieces together with a partner. Add in a bit of absurd humor and an original storytelling style, and it becomes immediately clear why Serious Sam is very popular among players even today.

In addition, in addition to the “sandbox” mode, the modification has several fun online game modes.

It is worth noting that for the modification to work, players will need any game on the Source engine. In this case, the objects and characters of Half-Life 2 will immediately become available to the player, because they are included in the main distribution of the engine. Other games will allow you to use their content in the sandbox.

Improved characters make more powerful combos and can use their super attack more often.

The levels are fairly linear, but there is often the possibility of a tactical bypass.

Features of the game also include the ability to exchange weapons with allies, as well as the fact that the player almost never has to look for ammunition, since a partner can always give out a small portion of the necessary ammunition. In addition to the story campaign, the game also has a network mode, where players need to steal as much money as possible from the bank.

The main feature of the game is the presence of a so-called “director”, who adjusts the gameplay depending on the actions of the players, making each playthrough unique.

The project received many positive reviews, as well as a number of significant awards, largely due to its unique gameplay, with an emphasis on team action, as well as a gloomy atmosphere of horror and despair. On November 17, 2009, the second part was released, which subsequently added maps and campaigns of the first part. It is worth noting that a lot of people still play the game.

The games are divided into small chapters, often with a mandatory boss at the end. Between chapters, the player can purchase equipment or improve existing ones.

The main difference between the sixth part and the fifth is the presence of as many as four story campaigns, the events of which take place in parallel with each other and often intersect at key points. Moreover, each of the campaigns is slightly different in gameplay. Thus, the campaign for Leon and Helena is more similar to the classic Resident Evil, and the campaign for Chris and Pierce is reminiscent of the fifth part of the franchise.

Between waves, players can purchase weapons and equipment from the store (money is earned by killing mutants). There is also a small RPG element here. In particular, you can improve your character’s perks for the experience gained in battles.

Both parts of the game were warmly received by the gaming community. Many noted the similarity of this project with the game Left 4 Dead, but at the same time emphasized that the Killing Floor franchise is not without its own uniqueness and is definitely capable of leaving a positive impression.

Trine 1-3

Release date: 2009-2015

A trilogy that combines genres such as 2D fantasy platformer, RPG and puzzle. The main feature of the games in the series is the ability to complete levels as three different characters at once, switching between them at the right time. Each of the characters has their own unique skills that will be necessary for the player at different stages of the levels.

The locations are built in such a way that sooner or later the player has to take control of one or another character. For example, a knight can fight with opponents and use a shield to protect the team from enemy projectiles. The thief uses a bow and arrow, as well as a grappling hook. The magician has the ability to create objects and move them in space. The games in the series also include co-op for 3 people and special levels for playing together.

The game has several playable characters with their own unique skills, many quests (which is more typical for MMORPGs) and a lot of all kinds of loot (weapons, upgrade modules, etc.).

The game has an interesting feature - procedurally generated weapons and items that can receive improved firepower or, for example, effects such as setting the enemy on fire. The same system is used to create special enemies that players encounter along the way. It is also worth noting the unique hand-drawn style, which has become a kind of calling card of the series.

In addition to the story campaign and co-op, the games in the series have several multiplayer modes, which also feature deeper character customization, including a wide selection of models of the face, legs, torso, etc. In general, the projects received mostly positive reviews, in which players noted excellent multiplayer content and original monster designs.

A fun action-adventures focused on co-op. In both parts of the series, the player, in the role of one of the wizards, in the company of his friends (up to 4 players), must go through all kinds of levels in order to stop the “Dark Evil”. The series amazes with a huge number of all kinds of magical combinations, as well as absurd situations that arise as it progresses. The degree of absurdity is also increased by the fact that friendly fire is always on here and with some particularly massive spell you can accidentally fry your comrades. Such errors will occur to you often, moreover, the game expects and demands them from you!

In general, the whole point of the series is in the cheerful co-op, which is equipped with a huge amount of humor. The games also contain references to everything possible, various secrets and artifacts, as well as a flexible spell system based on the combination of various elements (which often gives unpredictable and sometimes even funny results).

Terraria

The variety of items, equipment and enemies in the game is very large, in particular, the number of items alone here exceeds 2000!

With one of the patches, co-op was added to the game, as well as an “expert mode”. In the co-op mode, several people can now explore the world at once, and the “expert mode” significantly complicates the game, in particular, the mobs become stronger, and the dropped loot is much less than in normal modes.

Portal 2

Release date: 2011

Genre: First person puzzle

The second part of the famous “portal” puzzle with a first-person view, which develops and improves the gameplay of the first part. Among the many gameplay innovations in Portal 2, it is worth noting the presence of a cooperative mode, which allows you to complete levels in the company of another player. Moreover, each player can use both their own portals and those of their partner (although there is no connection between all four portals in the game). Most co-op puzzles also rely on players interacting with various elements (often using portals), but co-op is much more complex than solo play.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North

Release date: 2011

Genre: RPG, third person action

An action role-playing game with up to three player co-op elements, inspired by the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, in which players take on the role of one of several heroes and travel to various locations in the world of Middle-earth. The project does not repeat the hackneyed plots of the original trilogy, but highlights events unfolding parallel to the main plot of the books, thereby expanding the LotR universe.

There are three characters in the game, each of whom has their own abilities and will be much better at something than the others (for example, the elf specializes in healing the team and raising morale, and the dwarf is good for frontal attacks and withstanding a large amount of damage). On their way, the heroes will meet many different monsters, and at the end of each level they will have a boss battle, after which they can get useful loot and level up their character.

Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide

Release date: the first - 2011, the second - 2013.

Genre: First-person shooter with RPG elements, zombies, open world

Now the player in the role of one of the characters, having gathered a company of up to three of his friends, will have to find out the cause of the pandemic, and then escape from one, and then from another, infected island.

The basis of the gameplay here is to explore the island, fight with the infected, and complete main and secondary quests. During the course of the game, players gain experience, which can be spent on leveling up their character, and also find supplies and weapons. The latter breaks down as you use it, so you will have to constantly look for the best weapon (or repair and/or improve the existing one).

Release date: the first - 2012, the second - 2018.

Genre: Indie

A cooperative arcade game designed for completing levels in a company of up to four people on one screen, in which the best chefs from all over the world must save the world from an eternally hungry monster (in the first part of the game) and the Walking Bread (in the second). The project features funny cartoon graphics and original gameplay.

Each level here is a unique location (a cafe, a pirate ship, the mouth of an active volcano, ice blocks, etc.), where players create culinary masterpieces and feed visitors for a while. At the same time, something at the level constantly interferes with the completion of the assigned tasks. For example, due to the rocking motion on the ship, players will constantly have to chase plates moving back and forth, and on ice blocks it is very difficult to stand on your own.

Torchlight II

Release date: 2012

Genre: Third person RPG, indie,

An action RPG in a steampunk world, where the player, represented by one of four characters, must complete levels, fight monsters, collect loot and level up his character. In some ways the game is reminiscent of the famous Diablo, however, with its own unique features. So, in particular, the game contains familiars, it is possible to catch fish, and in general there are some gameplay “tricks” that are more suitable for the MMORPG genre.

There is also the possibility of cooperative play (for the absence of which many criticized the first part of the game). Co-op supports play for up to six people, with the number of players directly influencing the number of opponents thrown against them. The multiplayer game itself remains the same as the single-player game without any special innovations.

Dead Space 3

Release date: 2013

Genre: Third person shooter, survival horror,

A third-person sci-fi survival horror game that is the final game in the Dead Space trilogy. Compared to previous installments of the franchise, the gameplay has undergone significant changes. So, for example, our character can crouch and hide behind cover, and the opponents are not only necromorphs, but also fanatical soldiers, and therefore battles can take place on three sides at once. Another feature of the gameplay is the possibility of playing the game cooperatively for two people.

Interestingly, the cooperative version of the game has some differences from the single player version. For example, some side quests can only be obtained in co-op. In addition, each player can from time to time experience hallucinations that are invisible to their partner, and begin to react to them (for example, shooting in different directions at non-existent enemies, hitting their friend).

Don't Starve

Genre: Indie, survival horror, sandbox, roguelike

One of the features of the game is that there is no training here - just take it and master everything yourself.

In April 2016, a multiplayer version of the game was released, in which all previously released content was embedded, and a number of innovations were added. So, for example, now the character does not die, but becomes a ghost with his own abilities and skills. In addition, in survival mode it is possible to resurrect each other. In addition, the multiplayer game can take place both cooperatively and with the possibility of PVP.

The tasks in the game are very diverse - it could be robbing a bank or a jewelry store, or maybe guarding a drug laboratory. In addition to the main tasks, the game contains random events that significantly diversify the gameplay.

The game is designed exclusively for team actions. This is especially well revealed in the division of characters into classes, each of which will be very useful during the passage. In general, competent pumping plays a very important role here. And it’s much more interesting to play with a well-developed and well-played team than with random players who sometimes may not behave very adequately.

On our website the game is included in the top games with.

The game is distinguished by an abundance of humor, whirlwind gameplay (most of which is made possible thanks to the superpowers of the main character), as well as the incredible convenience of all game mechanics. On the plus side, it is also worth noting the presence of co-op, which was added to Saints Row 4 with one of the add-ons. In it, the main character's associates from the main plot are sent to hell to free their boss from his forced marriage to Satan's daughter.

Arma 3

Another innovation is the presence of drones, which allow you to quietly find out the location of the enemy.

Network play and co-op are implemented in the game, however, not all missions are available for co-op, which, however, is solved with the help of the Steam workshop, where a fruitful community of fans has released a huge number of modifications, including for co-op. Release date: 2013

Genre: Third person action, RPG

One of the many games in the Lego series, made in the action-adventure genre and telling about the adventures of the superheroes of the Marvel universe. The game is a prequel to Lego Marvel's Avengers, but has an original plot in which Nick Fury assembles a team of superhumans. In general, the gameplay is not very different from other games under the logo of the famous designer. Alone or in the company of a partner, we run through the levels, fight enemies and solve simple puzzles, collecting Lego pieces along the way that fall out of almost any object.

Unlike other Lego games, the gameplay has become more dynamic, and we have the whole Manhattan open for exploration, in which we can steal cars (like in some GTA), help non-player characters and destroy almost everything around. Naturally, doing this in the company of your friend is many times more interesting and fun.

Insurgency

Release date: 2014

Genre: First person shooter,

A realistic multiplayer tactical first-person shooter with a focus on team action, dedicated to the Iraq War. At the center of events are US private military companies and Iraqi rebels, between whom the fighting takes place. The teams in the game are divided into combat sections, where each player has his own clearly demarcated specialization and, accordingly, a game task. For the sake of realism, there are no interface elements on the screen, and the player’s death occurs after 1-2 hits.

The game literally forces allies to act together, because otherwise you will simply be destroyed by a more competent and tactically savvy enemy. Entering this game after some CS or Battlefield, you literally understand that you are just a burden and have never played real shooters. The game will require straight hands, good reactions and the ability to act harmoniously in a team.

Divinity: Original Sin

Release date: 2014

Genre: Third person RPG,

A turn-based RPG based on the game mechanics of classic role-playing games. So, for example, we have two characters, who, as we progress, will be joined by other game characters, who also build certain relationships with each other: they can have sympathy, antipathy, love, etc. In battles there are action points, and interaction bonuses between characters, backstabs, etc. have a significant impact on the battle. There is also a co-op mode in which 2 players can go through the storyline (and 4 players can play in multiplayer).

The game features deep interaction with the world. For example, almost all items can be transferred here or tried to be combined with each other. In addition, various elements can interact with each other here, for example, a wet enemy will receive less damage from fire). In general, the project turned out to be very deep and will certainly appeal to all fans of the genre.

Destiny

Release date: 2014

Genre: First person shooter, RPG

A futuristic online first-person shooter that also includes MMO elements. The story campaign in the game is a kind of preparation of the player for high-level multiplayer content, in which Destiny is revealed in all its glory. And even the joint passage of the initial stages is tied to the level of the players, i.e. You won’t be able to get into a team with players much stronger or weaker than you.

The game has three character classes, and each of the characters also has a special Ghost robot that constantly accompanies us and helps us in every possible way. The gameplay is designed for cooperative play, since, as in many MMOs, independent play here is uninteresting and ineffective. In multiplayer, there are several modes, and random events periodically appear on the maps, in which, with proper luck, we can participate.

Dungeon of the Endless

Release date: 2014

Genre: RPG, indie, tower defense

An exciting roguelike game with elements of such genres as tactics, strategy, RPG and tower defense. The premise of the game is simple, we are on a prison ship crashing over a planet, which we now need to explore by choosing a couple of characters and, with their help, making our way up from the dungeon into which the spaceship landed. The locations here are divided into rooms in which both monsters and something valuable can appear. Moreover, in already completed rooms, monsters are guaranteed to appear and will head towards the crystal sticking out of the wreckage of the ship (its destruction entails loss), so the player will have to worry about defense.

The game also features excellent co-op, in which you not only have to micromanage, but also coordinate with a partner (or partners of up to 4 players). Those. in battles you have to agree on who is responsible for what, divide resources in half and decide who will build what now.

Miscreated

Release date: 2014

Genre: MMO, first and third person shooter, survival, zombies

A first/third person action game with sandbox and survival horror elements, positioning itself as a global rethinking of DayZ with its own unique features. In general, everything is quite standard for the genre - we have a huge location in which we appear with practically no means of subsistence. There is despondency and devastation all around, caused by the apocalypse, but we must simply survive, getting food, drink, uniforms, weapons, etc.

The game has the possibility of co-op. Surviving with a friend is much more interesting, given that the game world is extremely aggressive. Zombies can appear completely unexpectedly, and aggressive other players cause a lot of trouble. The game is in the open test stage, but it’s good that the developers are constantly improving the game and adding a lot of new content to it.

Depth

Release date: 2014

Genre: First Person Shooter

A multiplayer action game in which the player can take control of a huge shark or a diver. Obviously, the gameplay will be different in both cases. So, for example, a shark relies on its own strength and stealth (there is even the possibility of improving its skills), and a diver, whose task is to extract treasure from the depths, can acquire weapons and equipment to better resist the predator.

There can be up to four divers and two sharks in one round. The arsenal of scuba divers includes all kinds of mines, grenades, underwater pistols, knives, harpoons, tracking systems, turrets, etc. It would seem that with such an arsenal, sharks are in a losing situation. But be that as it may! The game developers have done a good job of balancing the sides, so every fight between humans and a predator will be unique and unpredictable.

In general, everything here is done at a high level. Driving an armored vehicle into the midst of enemies and causing chaos there is an incomparable pleasure. The game contains a lot of beetles and robots, a competent mixture of dynamics and stealth, as well as excellent humor and high-quality graphics.

The game has various locations and a variety of equipment that can be used.

In general, the gameplay is largely traditional for the series, but the developers tried to make everything much more interesting, larger-scale, cooler, which, by the way, they did. The game is captivating from the first minutes, largely thanks to the gameplay, polished to the smallest detail and incredibly beautiful graphics, for which the project received a number of prestigious awards. I’m also glad that the developers release large-scale DLC with enviable frequency.

TheHunter: Call of the Wild

Release date: 2017

Genre: First person shooter, hunting simulator, adventure

A hunter simulator with a first-person view, in which literally everything is wonderful: a huge open world, a wide variety of all kinds of game, colorful graphics and even a cooperative mode for joint hunting. Among the minuses, it is worth noting the not very high-quality optimization of the game, which the developers, hopefully, will correct in subsequent patches.

The first thing I would like to note here is the locations that amaze with their beauty. And although this project is about hunting, there is something to do in the game besides killing animals. So, for example, here you can collect antlers, find notes, photograph local beauties, etc. The game is leisurely and meditative, so the project is very much for everyone, but this is rather not a minus, but rather its feature. It's a little more fun to play with a partner, so co-op is highly recommended, especially if you're new to this genre.

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS

Release date: 2017

Genre: Third person shooter, adventure

A multiplayer survival simulator in which the player and 99 other people land at various points on a large island and begin to survive, along the way finding supplies and weapons, and destroying other players. The essence of the game is to be the last survivor on the island. You can play solo, duo, or in a squad of up to 3-4 people.

The game as a whole is very dynamic, and at a certain moment it encourages players to take active action by creating the so-called white, blue and red zones. The white zone is safe, in the blue zone players gradually lose health, and the red zone is subject to massive shelling. The white and blue circles get smaller after a certain time, forcing players to move towards the center and fight each other.

Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop

Release date: 2017

Genre: Third person shooter, arcade,

An arcade cooperative shooter in an isometric projection, which contains both the original game and a custom modification with a bunch of changes. The premise is simple - to save the planet, a squad of elite fighters is assembled, the character of which we control. In the original game, the squad consisted of four people, in turn, the modification expanded it to eight. It is worth noting that this add-on is no longer focused on the story campaign, which can be played just fine with four players, but on additional modes that are somewhat reminiscent of “mutations” from the game Left 4 Dead.

The essence of the main game is still to exterminate hordes of aliens in the spirit of the good old Alien Shooter, but again, in the company of your friends, which adds more dynamics to the game and a number of unique cooperative features.

Nine Parchments

Release date: 2017

Genre: Arcade

A cooperative arcade game in the Trine universe about fugitive half-educated magicians who want to find nine lost manuscripts. The game is based on learning, creating and combining various spells with incredible and sometimes very unexpected effects. As a result, there are many accidents on the way of the fugitives.

The gameplay of the project combines elements of action and RPG - magicians fight with staves and spells, collect magical trophies and level up in one of several development paths of the player's choice. Each enemy is painted a certain color, which reflects its vulnerability to one of the elements (fire, ice, etc.). There are also bosses in the game, to which you need to select your own tactics, distributing certain roles between players.

Monster Hunter: World

Release date: 2018

Genre: RPG, third person action

The fifth part of the famous Monster Hunter series of games, made in the Action/RPG genre from a third person and designed for co-op for up to four people. The players' task is to, as hunters, track down monsters in their habitat, destroy them, create more powerful objects and hunt more serious monsters. The game has fourteen types of original weapons with their own unique attacks and properties, many monsters, pet assistants and much more.

As in previous games in the series, the player takes on the role of a Hunter, but now players need to act as a team. Characters do not have skills; they are determined depending on their equipment. In particular, the weapon in the game determines the fighting style and the player’s role in the team, and armor provides various skills that can and should also be selected to suit your playing style. Players need to craft all this (as well as various drinks, traps, etc.) from resources obtained from monsters and resources found at the location.

Deep Rock Galactic

Release date: 2018

Genre: First Person Shooter

A cooperative sci-fi first-person shooter about cool space gnomes. The game is distinguished by a procedurally generated environment and hordes of alien creatures, with whom the player will have to fight in the company of three other friends in order to extract various minerals.

The essence of the game boils down to the following: four dwarves take an order from an intergalactic mining company and go to the desired asteroid in order to extract minerals. Dwarves have a division into specializations with their own unique role in the squad and their own leveling tree: scout, marksman, engineer and driller. Each mission is unique in its own way, because... is generated randomly, including monsters, their numbers and all sorts of “accidents” on the map in the form of earthquakes, a cracking floor, etc.

Here you will find cooperative shooters - that is, games that you can play with friends. Such projects do not involve battles between players, but joint confrontation with AI-controlled monsters.

More details

A little history

Co-op games have been popular on game consoles of the last century. Suffice it to recall the hits of the Dendy console, which was widespread in the post-Soviet space: Battle City, Chip and Dale, Battletoads, Double Dragon - these games, designed specifically for playing together, were no less loved than competitive projects - fighting games or sports simulators like Street Fighter and FIFA . Exploring levels and dealing with enemies together at the same console was priceless.

Co-op Games Today

With the development of technology, the co-op mode has received a lot of new opportunities - especially on PC. Modern cooperative games, in particular shooters, can be completed by playing over a local network or via the Internet; thus, the partner may be in another city, country or even on another continent.

Co-op shooters give gamers a completely different experience than single-player or competitive games. There is no need to confront each other; on the contrary, mutual assistance and teamwork are important in such games. To please all categories of gamers, many developers add single-player, competitive, and cooperative modes to their projects.

Attention! This article is hopelessly outdated or is now assessed by the author as having no informational benefit.

I love playing on the computer. Especially shooting games. Shooters/FPS/Action - no matter what they are called, the meaning is the same and the thrill is also :) And this passion for shooting games is shared by my friend (yes, I was lucky with her =)). Recently we have two computers and naturally there was a desire to hack it together. And not just in “death match”, etc., but in cooperative mode for passing. Here I will talk about finding the right toys.

Let me clarify the task: We are looking specifically for shooters, always with the ability to play together in co-op mode.

One of the computers is an eMachines E642G laptop. Since it is weaker than my gaming computer, when searching I have to take into account its technical characteristics that are important for games:

  • CPU: AMD Turion II X2 P540 - 2.4 GHz
  • RAM: 3 Gb, DDR3
  • Video: ATI Mobility Radeon HD5470 512 Mb
  • Display: 15.6"", 1366x768, LED backlight
  • Chipset: AMD M880G
So, what have we already played and what exactly works on our hardware:

Resident Evil 5 (2009)
Genre: action / survival horror / 3rd person shooter (TPS) / co-op x2
Friendly fire: 0%
Protection: Games for Windows Live

There are no particular problems with creating a co-op game locally. The one who creates the game controls Redfield, the one who connects gets the role of Sheva. You can switch roles; to do this, the second player must create a game. It will continue from where it left off. It’s especially pleasing when your partner in the game is controlled by a person, because... The bot is sometimes quite annoying. The only difficulty we had was at the very beginning: I set the game to the hardest level and there was no way we could survive the first mess %) We had to play the entire game on an average level, because... it cannot be changed along the way. We didn’t get to the end because there was a glitch: when we had to defeat and save Redfield’s former partner, our battle became endless.

Gears of War (2007)
Genre: action/TPS/co-op x2
Friendly fire: 0%
Protection: Games for Windows Live

Many connection methods, including via LAN. Unfortunately, only 2 players can pass together at once + 2 bots will hang around nearby. Bots more or less fumble around, do not huddle together, as happens in other games, scatter across the battlefield, hold positions and crush the enemy with fire. In general, the game mechanics themselves are excellent: you can hide behind covers and shoot from behind them; run/tumble to other shelters; during movement and combat, the camera shakes creating a real effect of participation; partners can be saved (no one dies completely); opponents do not sit still, and besides, you can’t kill them so easily. With you are two guns, a pistol, grens + hand-to-hand techniques. All conditions for a tough, uncompromising war!

The laptop more or less copes with high game quality settings. There are not many of them; you can select the ones you need experimentally in combination with Fraps. Achievements are saved in GfWL, so if there is a pirate - only a local profile and LAN. In addition, the game has a special requirement: it strongly recommends installing AMD Processor Driver 1.3.2.16. But there is no driver for this particular version! You can download another version (the real driver version is 1.3.2.0, despite what is written on the site). After installation, the game still recommends installing the required driver, but there is no way out - we skip the message and crash at our own risk.

I haven't fully figured out why this driver is needed. It seems like it was specially written for dual-core AMD processors to automatically manage power and overclock the processor if necessary. On the forums I found an explanation like “without it, the game will be stupid and freeze in places.” The game message says that it may crash without saving. This already looks like the truth, I checked it for myself: without a driver, the game crashed after 10 minutes, and after installation we calmly played for more than an hour.

This game has a save bug. How to fix it, read.

Lost Planet 2 (2010)
Genre: action/TPS/co-op x4
Friendly fire: lethal (setting)
Protection: Games for Windows Live

The brain desperately clings to a barely noticeable storyline, while the hands take out enemies one by one. The second part of the game is made in the spirit of its predecessor: combat vehicles, huge weapons in the hands of fighters, armor, the struggle for energy on an alien planet and local aggressive fauna. Even the degrees of freedom of movement are the same - jumping, harpooning, turning sharply, etc. The game was a success.

The differences are as follows: we fight mainly with people armed with the same set of murderous weapons that we have. Now you can even go through a company in the company of %). To do this, you can take 2-3 bots or people with you, if any. Moreover, the game is tailored specifically for network gameplay: you won’t understand how to set up the passage for only one person. The developers generally overdid it with a set of menus and confirmatory dialogues. Annoying factors include the jamming of the sight (it moves jerkily) and a huge superiority of forces in battles with bosses.

You definitely need to play with someone together :) Combat situations and difficulty in the game are clearly designed for people, not bots. The AI in some places makes you rejoice at the possibility of lethal fire on your own. The very passage of the company resembles an ordinary death match: you fight on the map before the onset of event X. Respawn right there at some captured data post (BattleField reminds), the probable loss of the team is the loss of N number of points for respawns. It seems there is even a plot, but I caught it in fragments. And it’s not particularly important when such battles are fought for “a place in the sun” :)

When running with a local GfWL profile, only LAN is available from the connection types. The quality of the game for a laptop should be no higher than average at the maximum screen resolution (the first test was kept at 10 fps). Unfortunately, we weren't able to finish the game until the end. I couldn't figure out how to make the "scooter" fly vertically up %(

There is one subtlety to co-op play at the beginning of the game. According to the scenario, the creating player finds himself in a snowy desert with three bots, while the second player marinates in arcade mode in some gorge (!), endlessly shooting flying reptiles from a helicopter. And this is how it was intended. The shooting gallery for the wingman will end when the “commander” and the bots reach point X. Only there will the real players meet in battle against a huge arachnid or whatever it is.. In short, don’t be surprised when you start co-op.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (2006)
Genre: tactical FPS/co-op x4
Friendly fire: lethal (setting)
Protection: no data

We played pirates with patch v1.35. In the online game menu you need to select " Cooperative", then you will get a game for passing. About the patch on the forums it is written that because of it the network game does not work. For us it looked like this: I created a server, and on another computer the list of available servers was empty. After restarting the game, everything worked The server should appear in the list almost immediately after creating the game, i.e. even before loading the map and selecting weapons.

I didn't like the game at all. Movement is slow, even running. Switching weapons is also slow: reloading is faster than switching weapons. Changing body position works crookedly: crouched - lay down - stood up. The only way! For example, you cannot sit down - stand up, lie down - sit down, etc. The assignment of control keys is not controlled, i.e. you can assign one button to several actions (in this case it will not work at all).

Bots. Either they are stupid, or I give the command “Follow”, and they remain in place. You have to constantly move them with the commands “Go” or “Cover”. Even at the average difficulty level, they kill quickly and irrevocably. In the event of death, the human player takes over from one of the surviving bots, and you cannot choose who exactly. In this case, the weapon/position changes, i.e. you can start the game with a pistol and an assault rifle, and end with a sniper%) You cannot take weapons from the dead.

On the laptop the game slowed down, maybe you need to set the settings easier. Moreover, the graphics correspond to the year the game was released. I think we won’t even try the second part (Advanced Warfighter 2).

Hidden & Dangerous 2 (2003)
Genre: FPS/TPS/co-op x6
Friendly fire: lethal (setting)
Protection: CD key

This is not a shooter, this is a quest! =) Riddles are everywhere, from how to start co-op mode to finding the right control button. Let's go" Network game - local network". Create a new server. Select the game type " Joint", we add maps for the game, set the parameters of the cooperative mode. Then you still need to dress and arm your fighter. The cooperative game is not exactly a “playthrough” game. There is no script, there are only a few maps with various tasks, which must be completed by a group of up to six fighters.

Playing together is boring. If there are not enough players, then bots are not added. Respawn on captured points. Limit on time and number of lives. Challenges/difficulty are not balanced. I set the difficulty level to the penultimate level on the map "Libya1" and it turned out to be a game of hide and seek - "two against an army of snipers." On some maps, fully armed infantry and even tanks were deployed against us! These tanks are not afraid of a grenade or a landmine. On the other hand, some tasks require long, boring running around, without any hints or tips on what to do. You can play cooperative maps equally successfully with any number of players, even alone. You can even scatter to different ends of the map and wage your own war. One of the common features I liked was the ability to heal each other. However, you cannot exchange weapons or ammunition.

The graph is scary, so there’s not much fun here either. Almost all events take place at night, and you have to fire at moving “cubes” at random. And what to expect from such an old game. I'm sure the single-player scenario is much more interesting. We played pirates with the same CD-key. The repack included the "Sabre Squadron" addon.

Serious Sam 2 (2005)
Genre:
Friendly fire: lethal (setting)
Protection: none

Excellent game! :)) It’s very fun for the two of you to run around and shoot colorful crowds of enemies. There is probably even some kind of scenario, because... between the meat grinders some blue men intrusively pester us =). A network game can be organized without any problems, especially since you can only play to complete the game. I was pleased with the developed difficulty setting system. It can be placed on every map, but you will have to interrupt Purge for Good and exit to the menu. After a few maps, we found the difficulty level that suited us.

You can lose after n-twenty lives for each player. At the same time, surviving players (up to 16 people in total!) can continue the fight and avenge the fallen. It is unlikely that you will be able to use tactical actions, if only because respawning takes you to a control point, and there is no time to coordinate the attack again. A couple of times we managed to act coherently, which also caused great delight: D A very serious thing called “Team Fire” (aka “Friend Fire”). The damage is not bad, you really need to watch where you shoot/throw the grenade.

The graphics are square, but you notice it before the first bullet, then there is no time to be distracted by trifles :). The sound was also somehow strangely glitchy, namely the music and the voice of our presenter. Although the glitch did not apply to the effects of shooting and explosions. Once a bug appeared: at the beginning of the level they took out all the enemies, but we couldn’t go further. Restarting the level helped.

Delta Force Xtreme 2 (2009)
Genre: tactical FPS (?) / co-op x64
Friendly fire: lethal (setting)
Protection: there must have been something

Of the entire series, Delta Force downloaded this one, believing that it would be a more or less modern game. Hmmm... How can I put it this way without offending the best feelings of the fans of the series? This is a paragraph! The graphics are not in one place, despite the message received at startup like " ABOUT! You have a cool video card! Supports vertex and pixel shaders. I will use it whenever possible...". It seems that the opportunity did not arise. Moreover, after the next respawn, the picture suddenly became overgrown with textures ala LSD%), which inappropriately disguised angular enemies behind alphanumeric bushes.

Okay, screw it with the graph, the main thing is that the game is soulful. This didn't work out either. There is no script for the passage, there are several maps for co-op mode. There is nothing tricky about the network mode settings. At first, the only thing I didn’t understand was why we were on the map with knives, while the bots had machine guns o_O. It turned out that in the online game settings it was necessary to select the weapons available for missions (last tab).

Despite the clear indication in the settings " 2 players", 3 more bots appeared on the map with us. They are so stupid that there is nothing to even compare with. They don’t go anywhere beyond the first place of battle, they don’t hide, they don’t change their firing position, they just chatter on the air. Is it possible to command them, I don’t I figured it out. I didn’t find anything similar in the long list of the Department. Actually, the help of bots was not needed, because the enemies are killed indecently and easily, even from a distance of sniper fire, you can kill the enemy with a burst from a machine gun.

What I didn’t like most: respawn occurs at the entry point of the map, despite the checkpoints passed. Moreover, they need to be re-passed so that the direction to the target is updated on the radar. You cannot change weapons while reloading. A thrown grenade lasts so long before exploding that I almost stepped on it (I thought it broke)). Enemy weapons cannot be picked up.

Note: you can play over a local network only by installing a special patch - DFX2 LANPATCH from RadonX19. Search on the Internet, it's not difficult. If you install it, I warn you: when unpacking you do not need to replace files language.pff And localres.pff otherwise you will get a broken game with a lot of swearing.

Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter (2009)
Genre: action / FPS / TPS / co-op x16
Friendly fire: lethal (setting)
Protection: Valve Steam

Good old Sam... in a new texture and on a new engine. Now the picturesque landscapes are complemented by walls smeared with blood, pieces of flesh, like real ones, fly in all directions, a realistic fountain of death gushes in the flashes of fire from a 6-barreled machine gun. All this under the change of day and night + weather conditions. Here it is, the ordinary life of an ordinary paratrooper... Yes, it’s worth playing it again, at least for the sake of this update :)

Since the natural craving for free things again prevailed over my conscience, I downloaded a pirated version (Morozov’s repack) and a patch for the network game, TeknoSam 1.0. The game didn’t work online: (I downloaded the second version of the patch. It’s useless. Another repack.. Zero. In short, after going through all the combinations of two repacks and two versions of the patch, I found a working option: you need a repack of who knows who with a built-in tablet Skidrow PROPER. There will be an English version of the game with a connection from Skidrow. The repack itself turned out to not work, despite the “Proper”: if there is no Steam on the machine, then the launch ends in nothing. If there is, then pirate For some reason the game starts the steam connection o_O.

Never mind, let's close this whole thing and demolish Steam (just in case). Download the network patch from Tehnogods. Full title " TeknoSam2.0+SamHD-TFE_Update__7+movement_fix". I didn’t get all the details, what they have there for seven and how the first version of the patch differs from the second. Having unpacked the archive file into the directory with non-working We get everything in the game at once! The game starts, the network mode works, you can hang the tambourine on the wall :)

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 (2008)
Genre: tactical FPS/co-op x4
Friendly fire: lethal (setting)
Protection: did not see

This is what we got away from! :D Delivers everything: no problems with a lan connection, smart bots, a normal system for managing the team and your fighter, fair damage to the enemy. The graphics are normal, without any special frills. Flying bullets, shrapnel, smoke - everything is as it should be. The picture slowed down a little in very dynamic scenes (fire, grenade explosion), but this was with maximum settings! There was a problem with the sound on the laptop: the microphone “hears” the speakers, and you get multiple echoes. This is a laptop disease, haven't played with it. By the way, this problem is solved by disabling voice chat.

This game should definitely be played in a group :) Scenario for passing: a corridor war between special forces and terrorists of the “city fighting” type. Verbal communication with a partner helps a lot (of course, we are sitting in the same room, why not communicate =)). Let's agree on the position and actions and... go ahead! Bots, of course, get under their feet in places, not without it, but sometimes they very successfully end up in the right place at the right time.

"Saves" of the passage of the network company are written to all machines. This is very convenient, because upon request " Give me the command!"Just exit the game at the checkpoint and log in again to create a server on another machine. Whoever is the server is the captain. In this case, the character remains assigned to the player’s computer. Very convenient :) Another plus: in case of loss of connection with the server, for example “Curred the window”, the game world freezes, but there is no disconnection. The connection is back - the battle continues.

Conflict: Denied Ops (2008)
Genre: FPS/co-op x2
Friendly fire: lethal
Protection: No

I have two impressions about this game. I’ll post everything I noticed, and decide the pros/cons yourself :). Graphics... well, there is some kind of picture, very simple without subtle details. The Russian translation hurts the ears with the teenage voice of one of the fighters and the lack of emotions. The game over a local network can be set up without problems, the main thing is to jump in the right direction in the menu. There are a lot of menus, be patient. The controls are also customizable, but somehow it’s a bit messy.

There are two characters in the game. One is a sniper, the other is an attack aircraft with a machine gun. You can change before starting the next mission. There is a walkthrough for two, but there is no script as such. All tasks like “fly there, make some noise”, “we need sabotage there”, “rescue operation at the end of the world”, etc.

As missions progress, ridiculous bells and whistles are added to your current weapons. For example, it clings to a sniper rifle underbarrel shotgun(WTF?!), and for the machine gun - an under-barrel grenade launcher. A certain camera is also hung on the sniper rifle, allowing you to fire from around the corner by simply sticking the rifle out on your bent arm! Aimed shooting from a rifle, pistol with a silencer and a machine gun has the same accuracy. Switching between weapons is slow, but there's usually no rush.

When controlling a fighter, you can sit down, lie down, or move while standing. You can also shoot by sticking your head around the corner. In the event of a critical injury, the partner must save the wounded comrade within a certain time. If one or both fighters are killed, the mission is failed, we start again. The enemy can be shot in different parts of the body, the hits add up to the overall picture of the defeat. In close combat, you can move the enemy with the butt. There are some enemies that can withstand a double hit to the head!

Inversion (2012)
Genre: TPS/co-op x2
Friendly fire: not installed
Protection: No

I can't ignore this creation. Scenario for two, I played with a bot, because... The laptop couldn't play the game. What we have according to the scenario: an outright bias towards Gears of War! And this is for the better, I tell you :) The same system of shelters, similar weapons, hand-to-hand combat, throwing grenades, crowds of enemies in ambushes... Even the heroes resemble those same fighters in size. In short, everything is the same, only the script is more dramatic and the opponents are people too.

Of course, there is a highlight - gravity control, but this is not for everyone. You can’t beat the game without using it, but personally, I rarely used the gravlink features. In my opinion, in terms of graphics, this game is inferior to GoW and I didn’t like the Russian voice acting. However, Inversion is worth attention and money spent hours of my life on it ;)

Everything else is in theory. There is a local network connection, somehow the players must find each other (I did not find any explicit settings in the script). In theory, coordinated actions with a real partner will be more reasonable than a bot that sticks out of place. And perhaps then tricks with gravity will open up new tactical moves for both players. And it will also be possible to heal each other.. theoretically :)

Under consideration
  • Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
  • Sanctum (2011)
  • Alien Swarm (2010)
  • Rainbow Six: Vegas
  • The Scourge Project

After consideration, I will write the verdict here :) Links to the topic:

In flight
Kane & Lynch 2. Dog days (2010)
Genre: TPS/co-op x2
Friendly fire: no data
Protection: Valve Steam

This game needs special mention. It is “protected” by steam, i.e. If you have a pirate account, you won’t be able to simply connect via LAN and play. Either buy two litsukha, or:

  1. If steam is not yet installed, then download the client, install it and register with the service.
  2. Download and install any repack of the game that works without steam. I recommend looking for Morozov's repack, he seems to have straight hands :)
  3. Look on the Internet for an archive with the game unlinked. Usually it is called like this: K&l2_CooPack.rar. It needs to be unpacked into the game directory.

Finally you can play for a couple :) Launch Steam, launch the game through "KL2.exe". No need to add the game to Steam as a third-party game and launch it through it! Then it won't work. Run the game only through "KL2.exe".

Creating a game server:
Story mode > Online co-op > Create an open game > Wait for the second player to connect. r Connecting to the game:
Story Mode > Online Co-Op > Player Select > Connect to the desired server.

And after all these “dancing with a tambourine” such a bummer! The laptop won't run the game on normal settings, and you can only play on minimum settings with your face twisted in frustration.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel (2011)

Theoretically, there should be a possibility of a cooperative, because the whole story takes place with three characters. But I didn’t find it :(. By the way, the graph in the game is not a fountain.. There is no anti-aliasing at all. You can hack it alone except for the sake of the script.

[Addendum October 26, 2011] I found a description of how to launch a network game - "Call of Juarez: The Cartel online". But I still don’t want to check, I’ve played enough alone.

Bulletstorm (2011)

The game is amazing, but... after completing it, the developers decided to remove the co-op mode. In their opinion, all the drive from the game evaporates, turning into a joyride through the digital spaces of an alien planet inhabited by evil natives.

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter (2010)
Genre: action / FPS / TPS / co-op x16
Friendly fire: lethal (setting)
Protection: Valve Steam

For those who do not want to pay about 300 rubles for the game. (just that!), there are instructions on how to bypass the protection for SSHD TSE. I managed to talk Steam into launching the repack I had instead of downloading the licensed version, but it was such a dance with a tambourine that I can’t even describe it with a word %) It’s better to buy a litsukha and you will be happy!

It was possible to launch, but it was not possible to connect via LAN. In addition, various bugs such as “no saves” have been noticed in pirates. He hesitated to fight for the union and abandoned this disastrous business.

Call Of Duty. Modern Warefare 1, 2

In the first part there is nothing for team play, only options for battles on individual maps. In the second, the main scenario is also only for one. Consolation prize: in MW2 you can perform special operations in co-op mode.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge

Not interested. I read the review on stopgame.ru, I lost the desire to play even alone.

Warhammer 40000: Space Marine

Well, it was necessary to soak this up:((First, announce an impressive co-op playthrough, then issue a finished release with a single player and only the makings of a network, and a month later (it seems) - an addition that opens a couple of maps in the massacre mode. This addition is called Exterminatus Mode.

The game seems to be protected by Steam with all that it implies. I played a pirate game on my own computer - everything was beautiful and without lags. But the absence of a joint passage definitely closes the issue of testing on a laptop and kills the idea of buying a litsukha. That's it.

I played for about an hour and got a graphics bug. A few minutes of searching on Google completely upset me. It turns out that the game is full of bugs, and there is a scam floating around the Internet for an existing patch that cannot be downloaded. There are also various recommendations, including those written on the game’s official website, on how to deal with graphics bugs. I tried everything - without success.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 (2007)

1. The laptop couldn't play the game. Even at the lowest possible settings, I managed to get 24fps at the training level. At the same time, it was not the picture that slowed down, but the game’s reaction to my actions. For example, I press shooting, it starts in ~0.8 seconds. I specifically compared it with the reaction on the computer - everything is in order there.

2. As in the previous part, everything happens slowly. The fighter mostly walks; you can now change your stance at will, but it’s still somehow inconvenient. It is not possible to quickly switch weapons, since the number keys are assigned to command control. You have to press the button and scroll through the mice in the list of weapons. Selecting team management orders is just as slow - scrolling with the mouse. Maybe the game is designed that way, like there are no dynamic moments, you can lower your head and balance out your strength, but I don’t like such slow-moving moments.

3. It was not possible to test on the grid. There was a pirate v1.05 available and on the slave machine it crashed with an error when connecting to the server. Considering points 1 and 2, I did not dig into why the error occurred.

Painkiller Hell & Damnation (2012)

A remake of the famous 2004 game. The game partially remained the same, textures were updated in some places, the soundtrack was slightly changed, in my opinion for the worse, and some enemies were perhaps redrawn. But all this is on the side, the main thing is now you can go through it together. At medium settings, the laptop played the game (why, it’s so old!), and a gap appeared when trying to connect to a network. The computers do not see each other:(There is an official update1 for the game, which in particular should fix the LAN connection problem, but it did not help me.

The cooperative (joint) game mode provides for the simultaneous participation of several players in completing one storyline. In this case, the participants, unlike classic multiplayer, do not act by forgiving each other, but work cohesively in one team. The efforts of the players are aimed at supporting each other in the name of a single goal that closely unites all their actions.

Due to the addictive nature of co-op, we were wondering which games in this mode are most in demand today. It turns out that there are not so few of them. We decided not to torment you by counting all currently available projects in this direction. Instead, we present below a small top of cooperative games, which includes the four most significant games:

  • – an addictive zombie-killing arcade game. The most attractive aspect of the game was the complete freedom of action, which manifests itself in various ways of killing the walking dead. The cooperative mode brings the game to the point where at one point players become not so scared of the environment, but rather interesting, due to the use of a wide range of melee weapons. Dead Rising 3 is fun, worth the attention of the whole group.
  • - a familiar RPG for many, which became a continuation of the Dragon Age series of the same name. Despite the fact that “Inquisition” did not bring new gaming features, most players will certainly like the project, since it has acquired a full-fledged cooperative mode. In it, players will undoubtedly be able to realize the full potential of team quests.
  • is a car simulator that clearly demonstrates the cohesive work of a team in various ambushes. For example, when off-road, players will often have to resort to the help of a friend to pull a stuck car out of a quagmire. The unity of the team is the key to ensuring that the hours spent at SpinTires will be remembered for a long time.
  • - a unique part of Assassin's Creed, offering a cooperative game mode. The storyline tells about a new killer - a guy from the Assassin family, Arno, who appears in the frame during the revolution in the eighteenth century. There are riots all around, human life is worthless, blood flows in a stream. The main one Against the background of everything that is happening, the hero becomes interested in who benefits from this bloodshed and he has no choice but to find the instigators of the revolution and deal with them on his own. At some stages of the campaign, the player can use the cooperative game mode, involving his friends in the passage.

Despite the fact that the top cooperative games in our case consists of four works, all of them deserve your attention. These are precisely the projects of our time that very clearly reveal the essence of the cooperative mode of playing the game, in comparison with other projects aimed at the simultaneous participation of several players.
