State Music College of Pop and Jazz Art (GMKEDI) is the only educational institution in Russia in the field of pop music.

The federal state budgetary educational institution of secondary vocational education "State Music School of Pop and Jazz Art (Technical School)" (GMUEDI) is located in the cultural center of Moscow Zamoskvorechye. Not far from the school are the A.N. Ostrovsky House-Estate, the Tretyakov State Gallery, the K.D. Ushinsky Pedagogical Library, the Marfo-Mariinsky Convent, city estates and residential buildings with shops of the 18th-19th centuries have been preserved. Since 1918, the Music School named after the October Revolution has been located in this building.

The school was formed on the basis of the pop departments of two educational institutions - the Gnessin State Music School and the October Revolution Music School. Nowadays GMUEDI is the only specialized educational institution in Russia in the field of pop and jazz art. The school trains artists (singers and instrumentalists), teachers, directors of instrumental and vocal groups.

Professional training of jazz and pop performers is carried out at the highest level through a methodically developed system of pedagogical guidance. The school's highly professional teaching staff unites the most talented and famous musicians, the best representatives of this genre. Among the graduates there are many artists who are well known in Russia and abroad.

Admission conditions

The school accepts citizens who have musical abilities, have a general education of at least 9 years of secondary school and have successfully passed the entrance exams.

Acceptance of documents

Applicants to the State Music School of Pop and Jazz Art submit the following documents to the admissions committee:

  • application form (according to form);
  • a photocopy of a passport or other document proving identity and citizenship;
  • state document on education (original or photocopy);
  • 3x4 photographs;

Applicants who are transferring from a secondary vocational education institution of the relevant profile to senior courses must submit a certificate from the place of study, 6 3x4 photographs, a certified copy of the certificate and an identity and citizenship document.

In the application, applicants must provide the following required information:

  • last name, first name and patronymic (the latter - if available);
  • Date of Birth;
  • details of the document proving identity and citizenship;
  • information about the previous level of education and the education document confirming it;
  • specialty, specialization and form of education (within the limits of admission targets or places under contracts with payment of tuition fees);
  • need for hostel accommodation;

The application also records the fact of familiarization (including through public information systems) with copies of the license to carry out educational activities, the certificate of state accreditation and appendices thereto. The fact of familiarization is certified by the personal signature of the applicant.

The applicant’s signature also certifies the receipt of secondary vocational education for the first time and acquaintance with the date of provision of the original education document to the applicant.

For applicants who have submitted to the admissions committee incomplete information provided for by these Rules and (or) information that does not correspond to reality, the admissions committee has the right to refuse to accept documents.

Applicants have the right to submit applications for participation in the competition for places financed from the budget, and for places under contracts with tuition fees, as well as for both specializations at the same time.

The application for admission and other necessary documents can be sent to applicants through public postal operators. When sending documents by mail, the applicant encloses with the application photocopies of documents proving his identity and citizenship, education document, as well as other documents if necessary.

When submitting original documents to applicants in person, their photocopies can be certified by members of the admissions (technical) committee.

Applicants are issued a receipt for documents acceptance. Applicants who have sent documents through a postal operator must appear at the admissions office before the start of the exams to clarify the exam schedule and fill out the necessary documentation.

Upon written application, applicants have the right to pick up the original education document and other documents submitted by the applicant. The documents are returned by the admissions committee within one working day after submitting the application.
