The influence of rock on the brain. Rock music as a weapon of mass extermination

Music is the great power of humanity. She has not only talent and cultural heritage, but also the source of human emotions. Each genre of music has its own impact on human health and psyche.

Music has surrounded man since ancient times. The sounds that primitive people heard around, attached sacred meaning, and over time they learned to extract melodies from the first musical instruments.

The first percussion musical instruments appeared in the Paleolithic era - they were used for ritual purposes, and the first wind musical instrument, the flute, appeared about 40,000 years ago.

Thus, since ancient times, music has become an integral part of human life. The main use of music in ancient times was to accompany ritual.

The sacred meaning of music is traced in the direction of folk, to which the term “prehistoric” is applied. The music of the aborigines of African, American and other indigenous peoples is prehistoric.

Each holiday and ritual was accompanied by certain combinations of sounds and melody. The sounds of musical instruments signaled the start of the battle.

Purpose of execution musical compositions there was a rise in morale, an appeal to the gods, a warning about the start of action or about danger.

The prehistoric period of music ends with the advent of a written musical tradition. The first musical works were written down in cuneiform in Mesopotamia. With the variety of musical instruments, the works became more complex.

Scientists have proven that music absolutely accurately reflects the state of development of culture and worldview at every stage of the evolution of society. Already the ancient Greeks described the technique of polyphony.

Medieval music was varied. Church and secular works. The first type reflected the spirituality of the people, and the second - the aesthetic ideals of that time.

The genre diversity of modern music allows you to choose a composition according to your spirit. But why do we like certain works? A person perceives music through the prism of several factors: nationality, emotional condition, individual characteristics.

Each genre has a different effect on a person’s mental and physical state. The most ancient studies claimed that music affects the intellect, the human body and his spiritual essence.

Modern research has studied this influence:

  • exposure to the sounds of certain musical instruments;
  • influence of traditional melodies;
  • modern trends and psychological condition person;
  • exposure to the works of certain composers;
  • musical genre and its influence.

Impact on the psyche and mood

Mood is a constant, continuous emotional state of a person. Our actions and actions depend on it. A specific thing or action cannot affect mood globally - the shaping factor of mood is life situation generally.

Modern psychology identifies the following factors for mood changes:

  1. Events. They can depend on a person or be formed independently of him.
  2. Words, spoken to a person and spoken by him.
  3. Sphere inner world person: what a person thinks, experiences, how he relates to certain actions of other people and events in the world.
  4. Actions. What a person is willing to spend his efforts on.
  5. Bad mood leads to the fact that a person perceives events in life in gloomy tones, through negativism. In a state of low emotional tone, many turn to their favorite music.

It is worth noting that the influence of each genre is individual and largely depends on personal perception. Psychological effects are exerted by:

  • rhythm of music;
  • variety of tones;
  • volume;
  • frequencies;
  • additional effects.

Classic

Classical music influences a person, giving vitality and perseverance. Reduces anxiety, likelihood of depression, irritability. Promotes knowledge acquisition.

Studies have shown that the works of certain composers evoke certain reactions in the majority of subjects:

  1. Bach and his “Italian Concerto” reduces negative feelings of anger and resentment.
  2. Tchaikovsky and Beethoven wrote masterpieces that contribute healthy sleep, reduce irritability.
  3. Mozart and his works help fight irritability and headaches.

Rock, metal

Heavy music enhances emotions – both negative and positive. Rock charges with energy, but disrupts internal balance and distorts rhythms.

Research into the influence of rock on the human psyche has shown that the rhythm and monotony of most works have negative consequences. This is especially evident in age group 11-15 years old.

Pop

Scientists have proven that pop music negatively affects attentiveness and memory due to the monotony of the rhythm.

Rap, hip-hop

Rap, according to research, causes feelings of aggression. The monotony of rap can cause irritation, anger, low mood and general emotional tone.

Jazz, blues, reggae

Blues has a beneficial effect on emotions, calms, and reduces irritability. Jazz disrupts inner harmony. Jazz is considered music that has a rather negative influence. Reggae is considered good mood music, increases emotional tone, and does not cause aggression or bitterness.

Club, electronic

Modern club and electronic music reduces learning ability and negatively affects intelligence. In some cases, it increases irritability and tension.

Music in the “soul” genre reminds us of feelings and often makes us sad. folk music, folk - increases the overall emotional tone, lifts the mood.

Music and health

The healing power of music was known to Pythagoras - the ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician made the first attempt to study its effect on humans. Certain combinations of sounds can change the general condition of a person - the first scientific evidence of this was provided by scientists in the 19th century.

The use of music as a medicine was first proposed by the psychiatrist Esquirol. Since then, “music therapy” has been actively used for the treatment and rehabilitation of patients.

In the twentieth century, doctors explored the ability of music to relieve pain, heal ulcers and tuberculosis. The most popular has become the use of melodies as anesthesia.

The second half of the twentieth century gave science research into the effects of music on the cardiovascular system, blood circulation, respiration, and hormonal regulation. The centers of modern music therapy are the USA, Germany, and Switzerland.

Melodies produced by different musical instruments differ in their impact on the human condition:

  1. Piano: effects on the thyroid gland, kidneys, bladder, psyche. The sounds of it keyboard instrument have a healing, cleansing effect.
  2. Drums(drums, tambourine, cymbals, castanets, timpani, bells): normalization of the heart, liver, and circulatory system.
  3. Brass(trumpet, clarinet, flute, bassoon, oboe): beneficial effect on the circulatory system, respiratory system.
  4. Strings(harp, violin, guitar): positive influence on the functioning of the cardiovascular system. They have an impact on the emotional sphere.

The beneficial effects of classical music on the human brain have been confirmed by many researchers. Classic improves memory, perception of information, helps with rheumatism.

According to the observations of surgeons, thanks to classical music the body works more harmoniously.

A connection has been established between classical music and the treatment of diabetes. Classical works contribute to the formation of the child’s bone skeleton.

Different music can have different effects depending on a person’s mood, emotional tone, and state of health.

  • The first music therapy course appeared in the UK. It was tested in the 60s of the twentieth century. The Music Therapy Center was opened.
  • Music helps relax muscles and treat obesity.
  • Research has shown that listening to music while sports training increases productivity by 20%.
  • The rhythm of music can be dangerous: it can cause abdominal pain and headaches.
  • The power of music has long been used in the trading sphere. Certain melodies can relax the buyer or increase his energy. This technology can be seen in supermarkets: during rush hour an energetic melody is played, at other times the music is calmer.
  • The resonance from bell ringing kills typhoid bacilli, the causative agents of infectious diseases.

Music can influence the mental and physiological state of a person. The power of a melody is in its tonality, rhythm, and volume. Any musical composition The music you choose to listen to will affect your mood, emotional tone, and health.

As you know, not every musical direction has a positive effect on the human body. When discussing this pattern, we can take modern rock music as an example. This musical style has its own distinctive features or means of influencing the psyche:

  • 1. Hard rhythm
  • 2. Monotonous repetitions
  • 3. Volume, superfrequencies
  • 4. Light effect

There have been cases where an excess of high or low frequencies seriously injured the brain. Sound shock, sound burns, hearing and memory loss are not uncommon at rock concerts. Volume plus frequency reached such a destructive force that in 1979, during a Paul McCartney concert in Venice, a wooden bridge collapsed, and the Pink Floyd group managed to destroy a bridge in Scotland. The same group also has another documented “achievement”: an outdoor concert resulted in a stunned fish surfacing in a nearby lake. Both rhythm and frequency “lead” to dependence on them: a person has a need for increasingly higher frequencies, approaching ultrasound. And this is already fraught with death, and the mortality rate was recorded by American doctors. There is also a growing need to increase the tempo of the rhythm.

Group " The Beatles” played at a power level of 500-600 watts. By the end of the 60s, the Doors reached 1000 watts. And a few years later, 20-30 thousand watts became the norm. “AC/DC” already worked at the level of 70 thousand. But this is not the limit. Is it a lot or a little? Quite a lot, because even a hundred watts in a small room can affect a person’s ability to think and analyze.

Immersion in a sound bag affects the ability to navigate and make independent decisions. Russian scientists have recorded the following: after 10 minutes of listening to hard rock, seventh-graders forgot their multiplication tables for a while. And Japanese journalists in the largest rock halls in Tokyo arbitrarily asked the audience only three simple questions: what is your name? where are you at? what year is it now? And none of the respondents answered them. According to the statement of the German professor B. Rauch, during such sound stress, a stress hormone - adrenaline - is released from the kidneys (adrenal glands). This process occurs every time stressful situation. But the impact of the stimulus does not stop and there is an overproduction of adrenaline, which erases some of the information imprinted in the brain. A person does not simply forget something that happened to him or that he studied. He is mentally deteriorating. Not long ago, Swiss doctors proved that after a rock concert a person’s orientation and reaction to a stimulus is 3 to 5 times worse than usual. When adrenaline is overproduced, it partially breaks down into adrenochrome. This is a new chemical compound, which in its effect on the human psyche is compared to a drug. This is a kind of internal psychedelic (mind-altering) drug, similar to mescaline or psilocybin.

Aggressive rock plays special, consecutive rhythms that lead the audience to an ecstatic experience. The rhythm persistently excites all emotional, physical and physiological pulsations, causing strong excitement nervous system and paralysis of the thought process. Our ear is tuned to perceive normal sound at 55-60 decibels. The loud sound will be 70 decibels. But crossing all thresholds of normal perception, a strong sound in intensity causes incredible auditory stress. The sound volume at the site, where walls with powerful speakers used during rock concerts are installed, reaches 120 dB, and in the middle of the site up to 140-160 dB. (120 dB corresponds to the volume of the roar of a jet plane taking off in close proximity, and the average values for a player with headphones are 80-110 dB.) The impact of ultra-loud sounds on the human body is destructive - experts call such music “killer music”, “sound poison” . Added to the exciting pulsations of the rhythm is the bewitching effect of irritating noise, which by its nature leads to nervous tension. Drumming, guitars, trumpets, electronic synthesizers, lighting effects, piercing screams, body movements - all this bursts in with all the ferocious force and permeates the sensitive human body. Many ancient peoples used similar rhythms beaten on a large drum to carry out executions.

Accelerating the alternation of stage light and darkness leads to a significant weakening of orientation and a decrease in reflex reaction speed. At a certain speed, flashes of light begin to interact with the brain's alpha waves, which control the ability to concentrate. At further growth frequency there is a complete loss of control.

Physiological disorders are changes in pulse and breathing, effects on the centers of the spinal cord (the autonomic nervous system associated with the unconscious sphere of the personality), changes in vision, attention, hearing, blood sugar, increased secretion of endocrine glands. American group Doctor Bob Larsen categorically states: “The low-frequency vibrations created by the amplification of the bass guitar, to which is added the repetitive action of the rhythm, significantly affect the condition of the cerebrospinal fluid. This fluid, in turn, directly affects the glands that regulate hormone secretions, and the level of insulin in the blood changes significantly. As a result, the balance of sex and adrenal hormones is disrupted so that the various functions of controlling moral inhibition fall below the threshold of tolerance or are completely neutralized.” Perception musical rhythm is also associated with the functions of the auditory-motor system. And flashes of light, following one after another to the rhythm of music, stimulate mechanisms associated with hallucinatory phenomena, dizziness, and nausea. But the main effect is aimed at the brain and is designed to suppress consciousness. It is similar to that achieved by drugs. The dominant rhythm first captures the motor center of the brain, then stimulates some hormonal functions of the endocrine system. But the main blow is aimed at those parts of the brain that are closely related to human sexual functions.

It is impossible to expose yourself to fate for a long time without getting deep psycho-emotional trauma. In this case, there is a loss of control over the ability to concentrate, control over mental activity and will is significantly weakened, unbridled impulses lead to destruction, vandalism and rebellion, especially at large gatherings. The ability to make sound judgment is greatly affected; it turns out to be greatly dulled, and sometimes even completely neutralized.

Plants and animals prefer harmonious music. If classical music accelerates the growth of wheat, then rock music does the opposite. If under the influence of classical music the amount of milk in nursing mothers and mammals increases, then under the influence of rock music it sharply decreases. Dolphins enjoy listening to classical music, especially Bach. Hearing classical works, sharks calm down and gather from all over the ocean coast (which happened during experiments); Plants and flowers spread their leaves and petals faster to classical music. To the sounds of heavy rock, the cows lie down and refuse to eat, and the plants quickly wither.

Row scientific research was specifically devoted to the question of the possible connection between listening to music certain type with the tendency of children and young people to suicidal, aggressive or illegal behavior. The most problematic genres were rap and heavy metal.

Heavy metal fans showed less pronounced cognitive needs, as well as positive attitude to smoking, drinking alcohol and drugs, promiscuous sex and antisocial behavior. Punk rock fans were hostile various kinds authorities, a disposition to carry and use weapons and petty shoplifting, and a tolerant attitude towards the possibility of ending up in prison.

The researchers also assessed the influence of the “heavy metal” genre with sexually aggressive content on the attitude of young men towards women, the level of sexual arousal, and approval of violence against women. The subjects listened to three types of music: heavy metal of the sexually aggressive and “Christian” variety and light classical music. Regardless of the content of the lyrics, listening to “heavy metal” music reinforces the cult of “masculinity” and a negative attitude towards women. Unexpectedly, it was discovered that classical music increases the level of sexual arousal more.

As you know, not every musical direction has a positive effect on the human body. When discussing this pattern, we can take modern rock music as an example. This musical style has its own distinctive features or means of influencing the psyche:

1. Hard rhythm

2. Monotonous repetitions

3. Volume, superfrequencies

4. Light effect

1. Rhythm is one of strong ways effects on the human body. Simple but powerful rhythms force a person to respond (movements to the rhythm), from ecstasy to hallucinations, from hysteria to loss of consciousness.

The Voodoo cult used a special rhythm, which, with a special sequence of musical rhythm and spells during pagan rituals, could put a person into a state of trance or ecstasy. A well-thought-out system of rhythms controlled the human body and psyche, like an instrument in the hands of Voodoo priests. American blacks who adopted these rhythms used them as dance music, gradually moving from blues to heavier rhythms.

The perception of musical rhythm is associated with the functions of the hearing aid. The dominant rhythm first captures the motor center of the brain and then stimulates some hormonal functions of the endocrine system. But the main blow is aimed at those parts of the brain that are closely related to human sexual functions. The sound of drums was used by the Bacchantes to drive themselves into a frenzy, and executions were also carried out using similar rhythms in some tribes.

The ability to analyze, sound judgment, and logic is no less strongly influenced. It turns out to be greatly dulled, and sometimes completely neutralized. It is in this state of mental and moral confusion that the green light is given to the wildest passions. Moral barriers are destroyed, automatic reflexes and natural defense mechanisms disappear.

American psychologist and musicologist Janet Podell writes: “The power of rock has always been based on the sexual energy of its rhythms. These feelings in children frightened their parents, who saw rock as a threat to their children and were, of course, right. Rock and roll and you can make you move and dance so that you forget about everything in the world."

Particular attention should be paid to the influence of frequencies used in rock music, which have a special effect on the brain. Rhythm acquires narcotic properties when combined with ultra-low (15-30 hertz) and ultra-high (80,000 hertz) frequencies.

If the rhythm is a multiple of one and a half beats per second and is accompanied by powerful pressure of ultra-low frequencies, it can cause ecstasy in a person. With a rhythm equal to two beats per second at the same frequencies, the listener falls into a dance trance, similar to a narcotic one. An excess of both high and low frequencies seriously injures the brain. Sound shock, sound burns, hearing and memory loss are not uncommon at rock concerts.

2. Monotonous repetitions. Rock music can be described as monotonous, motor-like music through which listeners can fall into a passive state. Through repeated listening, the ability to switch off more quickly and achieve a state of passivity is developed. This may not seem at first glance to pose a great danger, but the trouble is that the state of passivity and disconnection is one of the most important means of entering into communication with otherworldly forces. The defenseless audience is completely unaware that a profound invasion is taking place into the holy of holies of its being - consciousness and subconscious. Once in the area of the subconscious, these impulses are deciphered and reconstructed in order to be transmitted through memory to the conscious self, passing through all the barriers associated with accumulated moral experience. The end result of such an invasion is suicide, collective violence, the desire to inflict a bloody wound on a partner with a razor blade, etc.

This secret of the subconscious is perhaps the main one in psychiatry. At one time it was explained by genetic memory and by the fact that supposedly any word, in addition to its meaning, carries a hypnotic moment, but the mystery remains. You just have to take it into account as a fact.

3. Volume. (120 dB corresponds to the volume of the roar of a jet plane taking off in close proximity, and the average values for a player with headphones are 80-110 dB).

During such sound stress, a stress hormone - adrenaline - is released from the kidneys (adrenal glands). This process occurs in every stressful situation. But the impact of the stimulus does not stop and there is an overproduction of adrenaline, which erases some of the information imprinted in the brain. A person simply forgets what happened to him or what he studied, and mentally degenerates. Not long ago, Swiss doctors proved that after a rock concert a person’s orientation and reaction to a stimulus is 3.5 times worse than usual. When adrenaline is overproduced, it partially breaks down into adrenochrome. This is a new chemical compound, which in its effect on the human psyche is compared to a drug. This is a kind of internal psychedelic (mind-altering) drug, similar to mescaline or psilocybin.

Adrenochrome itself is weaker than synthetic drug, but their actions are similar. These are hallucinogenic and psychedelic drugs. However, the appearance of a weaker adrenochrome in the blood acts as an irritant, causing the desire to take a stronger dose, which is done right there during the concert.

4. Light effect. Such technical equipment of rock performances as the light effect - rays that from time to time cut through the darkness in different directions and having different configurations. Many consider them simply decoration for the concert. In fact, a certain alternation of light and darkness, especially with loud and chaotic music, leads to a significant weakening of orientation and a decrease in reflex speed of reaction. At a certain speed, flashes of light interact with alpha waves, which control the ability to concentrate. As the frequency increases, all control occurs.

Flashes of light, following one after another to the rhythm of music, stimulate mechanisms associated with hallucinatory phenomena, dizziness, and nausea.

If a laser beam is used for lighting effects, it may cause:

Retinal burn

The formation of a blind spot on it,

Decreased orientation

Decreased reflex reaction speed.

Long ago, the voices of doctors and scientists tried to convey to young people that rhythm, frequency, alternation of light and darkness, a pile of sounds taken entirely from ancient black magic societies - everything is aimed at the destruction of the human being, its violent perversion, at the destruction of all self-defense mechanisms, instinct self-preservation, moral principles, were not heard by anyone. Today, scientists can only sadly state that few people escape the all-pervasive element of rock music.

She replicates gray patterns of worldview, controls how to dress, how to think... According to these patterns, young people wake up, drive a car, have fun, study and fall asleep again.

So, the entire technical arsenal of rock is aimed at playing human body, on his psyche, like a musical instrument. Music, which appeared among our youth, like an atomic explosion, like a disaster that came into our midst, was able to completely change individual characteristics person. It simultaneously affects the motor center, emotional, intellectual and sexual spheres of human activity. It is impossible to expose yourself to fate for a long time and not receive deep psycho-emotional trauma.

What are the consequences of the influence of rock music on the behavior of the listener?

As noted above, each sound or piece has its own “auditory path” and the reaction in changing human behavior depends on this. If nerve cells associated with negative emotions are activated, this is immediately reflected in behavior. According to the observations of psychologists, rock musicians and composers themselves know in advance how a rock concert can end.

The following are possible results of the influence of rock music on the human brain:

1. Aggressiveness.

2. Rage.

4. Depression.

5. Fears.

6. Forced actions.

7. Trance states of varying depths.

8. Suicidal tendencies. In adolescents, this tendency begins to manifest itself from the age of 11-12, but when listening to rock music, this feature of the teenage psyche is provoked or greatly intensified at an older age).

9. Unnatural, forced sex.

10. Inability to make decisions clearly.

11. Involuntary muscle movement.

12. Musical mania (desire to constantly listen to rock music).

13. Development of mystical inclinations.

14. Social alienation.

This, of course, does not mean at all that a person who passionately loves rock necessarily has all these qualities, he just has a much greater predisposition to them, and with the appropriate combination of other factors, he will certainly be susceptible to this influence. By the way, rock music can also change religious ideas and values (especially in childhood, when they are not yet fully formed), as well as stimulate a person’s desire for self-actualization, self-realization, individualism and standing out in society.

Rock music, as we know, arose on the basis of Negro idolatry and primitive mystical chants. African sorcerers knew well the hypnotizing effects of rhythmic loud music. Its inherent beat rhythm causes certain changes in the body - it changes the pulse, breathing, blood sugar levels, and nervous excitement occurs: “... when the beats of a musical rhythm suddenly begin to coincide with the beats of your heart, it seems that a heavy bell is swinging inside you a tongue that hits your ribs, all your cells, and everything hums and rings, and either you will now take off and begin to go berserk in your movements, or you will explode and scatter into small pieces...

It was as if dense machine-gun bursts of tracer bullets (in bunches, in bunches) were hitting the arena, the dancing people, and our tables from the far corner. And all this - spinning lanterns, bunnies, beams of light, lamps flashing and extinguishing in volleys, all these whirlwinds of snow, a blizzard, a storm of multi-colored lights - all this was presented in a frantic rhythm, in blinking, corresponding to the frantic rhythm of music sounding at the limit of volume. , so you will no longer understand whether the world is spinning around you, or whether you yourself are involved in an uncontrollable spin, having gone crazy, turned inside out, freed from everything that until now made you just walk and just talking person“- this is what V. Soloukhin wrote in the story “New York. Disco" at the dawn of rock music.

Nowadays the perception of this music is becoming different. After all, more than one generation of people has been brought up in an atmosphere of mass rock, and knowledge of its history, leading movements, ensembles, and singers is considered very prestigious among young people.

Here we will take a closer look at some of the negative psychosocial aspects of rock culture related to issues of moral education, as well as the impact of rock music on the human body. Ethologist, Doctor of Biological Sciences V. Dolnik believes that if a mass manages to create a powerful rhythm, it is united. Remember the miracle of the birth of a synchronized rhythm of applause in a huge hall. There is something in this from our distant ancestors, from the feeling of herd. The child tries to play “okay” before he begins to speak. Music companies, the “noisemakers” of teenagers, are also close to this. Modern pop music is spreading, apparently, in connection with the need to organize such a company. The mechanism of extra-rational communication and subconscious unity operates here. The roots of the mass passion for rock music must also be sought among the causes of mass drunkenness and similar phenomena. “The hysteria of rock,” writes journalist M. Dunaev, “is the cry of the soul of a bitter consumer who has failed to find the true purpose of life. And this confirms the primitiveness, meaninglessness, and poverty of the song vocabulary of individual rock compositions. "Ooo! You and me! Ooo! Me and you!..” - repeated many times in one of the rock songs. The term rock and roll itself (literally: rock - movement or cliff in the surf) is a slang word from the black ghettos of America, denoting the movements of the human body during sexual intercourse. "King of Rock" Elvis Presley excited the waiting thrills young people making obscene gestures during their performances. By the way, as you know, he turned into a degraded drug addict and very soon died from this vice.

IN different time direct and indirect victims of drug use were such rock music celebrities as singer Janis Joplin, guitarist of the group " Rolling Stones» Brian Jones, Hu drummer Keith Moon, virtuoso guitarist Jimi Hendrix, Doors lead singer Jim Morrison, Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham and others. One of the trends - “punk rock” calls for suicide and violence, crime and drugs: “I kill children, whom I like to see bloodied. I make their mothers cry and crush them with cars. “I feed the kids poisoned candy,” sing the punks from the group “Dead Kennedy” to the sound of thunder and screeching. Why do young people rush in thousands to the stadium, to discos, where in the roar of decibels, the rhythm electronic guitars do they get the illusion of communication, a team, an ideal, the meaning of life? It is known that music, like other forms of art, affects the personality at four levels: physiological (it’s not for nothing that music is now used in operating rooms), emotional (impact on mood), intellectual (“under good music I think well..."), spiritual and moral. Rock - social phenomenon, and not just a musical genre. In our country, more than 90% of urban schoolchildren are consumers of pop music. Composer K. Volkov notes that the term “musical addiction” is not only ideological, but also medical, since such music in the conditions of a light-color-noise disco not only excites the nervous system, but also finds a certain resonance in the cellular structures of the body, which is subjective feels like a stupefying, narcotic effect, and in the long term leads to neuropsychic abnormalities. Doctor psychological sciences A. Popov and E. Savolei analyzed the connection between rock music and processes in the human body and psyche. Damage to the organs of vision, hearing, spinal cord function, endocrine and nervous systems of listeners was noted. This is largely due to the volume of rock music, which lies outside the psychophysiological norm. Let us remember that sound louder than 90 decibels already becomes harmful, and the sound of rock music reaches 120 decibels near an orchestra.

Due to the fact that certain types of modern entertainment music are strong irritants that cause the release of stress hormones, “erasing” part of the information imprinted in the brain and contributing to impaired neuromuscular coordination, the emergence of neurosis, as well as unbridled impulses. Modulation of rhythm frequency, music and alternation of light and dark cause acceleration heart pulse, increase in adrenaline in the blood. Researchers have shown that at a frequency of 6 - 8 vibrations per second, depth of perception is lost, and at a frequency of 25 vibrations per second, flashes of light coincide with the frequency of brain biocurrents, which leads to loss of orientation and control over one’s behavior. The effect of high frequencies in the ultrasonic range cannot be excluded. When the brain is exposed to this effect, biochemical reactions occur in it, similar to those caused by the administration of morphine. There are especially many high-frequency components in metal rock. Some experts believe that rock music causes a stress reaction and, accordingly, increased production of anti-stress agents, i.e., natural drug-like substances. Strengthening the activity of such systems often leads to self-narcotization. In cases where the resulting anti-stress agents are not enough, the person begins to introduce them additionally into the body. Simply put, by cultivating rock, we thereby indirectly develop drug addiction.

Most of all I liked the cluster of molecules with the word THANK YOU:) It’s a pity that they didn’t have samples of Tchaikovsky from the classics, I adore him. And also jazz, tango, fado and much more :)

The psychological impact of rock is as varied as the rock itself and its fans. Rock music provides some relief emotional stress, vivid bodily experiences. For others - a feeling of internal, psychological liberation, disconnection from the prose of everyday life. The third is a feeling of communicative ease, merging with the group.

Rock music is the overwhelming power of sound

The peculiarity of rock music is the monstrous, overwhelming power of sound. Amplification of sound in classical music is one of the means to achieve emotional tension. Thanks to powerful electric amplifiers, music is no longer perceived only by the ear - the whole body acts as a resonator, concentrating all the emotional forces of the individual through music. The sound space, as it were, extends a tent over the listeners, their experiences become common. It is impossible to get distracted and talk while listening to this music. It envelops and enslaves listeners, cuts them off from outside world, instilling a sense of interconnectedness and belonging. It seems that the sound comes from everywhere and is created not only by the orchestra, but also by everyone in the hall. Often such participation is effective (rhythmic movements, shouts, applause).

The highlighted is related to the first paragraph, the whole body resonates (the body is 90% water). And let's think logically: if there were fixed clamps and tensions in the body as a result of negative emotional experience, negative information, and, I assume, in the aquatic environment of the body this is reflected in the form of the formation of bad structures, then what could happen with listening to rock music in such condition? Most likely, these bad structures will break under the influence of a powerful wave of such music. I don’t like heavy metal, but from time to time I listen to something lighter. And here’s what I noticed: if I’m tense, upset, stressed - for me, such music transforms accumulated or one-time negativity into a fighting energy charge, i.e. negative energies transform and create a healthy tone in the body, you want to create, do, finish what was unfinished, work, create, create and all that - the energies of Mars went in the right direction :))

Ambivalent influence of music

Music, as we know, can be both a powerful tool for spiritual and moral improvement, and also a means infernal-demonic (hellish) seduction of man. According to M.I. Svetov, “the very appearance of rock music in The 50s of the twentieth century were marked by an outbreak of suicides and a truly mental epidemic, destroying those moral barriers that are designed to restrain animals and the baser inclinations of man.”

Well, no, I don’t agree here, some medieval terms went... hellish seduction... It’s just that this music can pull out deep sensations from the subconscious, animal, instinctive - for me personally, this is a reason for self-knowledge... and for many so, I think... And the outbreak of suicide... well, perhaps ROCK acted here simply as a catalyst for people with an unbalanced psyche, with some kind of problems that they may have for a long time tried to figure it out and couldn’t... I also don’t agree with the term mental epidemic - it’s just that music allowed that generation to destroy the tradition and stereotypes of society, so all the conservative people accepted this new trend from the outside...

Those seriously interested in rock music (rockers) are often compared to drug addicts. And this is no coincidence. They can no longer refuse rock music, and in ever-increasing doses.

I can say the same about spiritual music, prayer and meditation. If you dive into it and get seriously carried away, it’s a drug... Or let’s say what you love is also a drug... Or love is a drug... Or sex with a loved one is a drug... And consuming daily food is generally the worst drug. .. there’s no way without it... addiction, however...

"Rock is like a drug"

As M.I. writes Svetov, one Japanese rock fan ingenuously admitted: “Rock is like a drug, only it is not prosecuted by law and is much cheaper.” There is a need to constantly listen to more and more new recordings. A rocker, like a drug addict, goes to great lengths to get his “portion” of rock, so the rock industry is growing dizzyingly, making it possible to maintain a musical “dose.” Without rock fuel, rock addicts turn into a socially dangerous element, which certain extremist forces play on perfectly. It is no coincidence that doctors are thinking about a new diagnosis - “music addict”. And some American scientists say unequivocally: “Rock is not a harmless pastime, it is a drug no less deadly than heroin, ending the lives of our youth.”

Isn't this an unfounded statement? I know that football fans are clearly spectacle-dependent and socially dangerous elements and there are always these fights, clashes, murders against this background... Why doesn’t football cause such an experience in doctors... Clashes at rock concerts may also happen, but Somehow you hear less about them than about football players... Yes, in the 90s I remember our youth rockers fought with pop musicians, so what? Ordinary street fights, during the period of the urban explosion, just give a reason... And in general, the 90s are something with their own specifics... so the author is not convinced... maybe if there are comparative statistics in favor of this statement... then it’s possible will think...

How is the influence of rock music on a person achieved? The rhythm, the frequency of alternation of light and technology, the accumulation of sounds - everything is aimed at the destruction of the human being, its forced transformation, at the destruction of all self-defense mechanisms, the instinct of self-preservation, and moral principles. The rhythm acquires narcotic properties. If it is a multiple of, for example, one and a half beats per second and is accompanied by powerful pressure of ultra-low frequencies (15–30 hertz), then it can cause ecstasy in a person. With a rhythm equal to two beats per second and at the same frequencies, the listener falls into a dance trance, which is akin to a narcotic one.

Oh oh oh... and ancient people had psychotherapy like this: in the light of a fire, to dance to the rhythm of drums, fall into ecstasy and hunt mammoths, tigers, bears, or, well, relieve stress after the hunt... Well, we have tigers - there are no bears as a reality of life... but there is stress at work, in the subway, on the roads, at home, from TV... Why can’t we take advantage of modern light rhythms? I know a girl who is very sensitive and receptive, stress-resistant - in such situations she pulls herself out of negative states only by listening to rock... she “settles down” for a couple of days and comes to her senses...

In general, everything is individual, both the dose and the direction... if a person needs this music, then he needs it...
