Writing down phone numbers of business partners on scraps of paper these days, you will agree, is stupid and even somehow indecent. A waste of time. After all, there are business cards. Why arrange " circus show» with a detailed listing of all positions and contact details? Your business card will tell everything for you. Well, we will tell you how to make a business card in Word, spending 10 - 15 minutes on the whole process.

Simple instructions

You should start by marking the sheet. The standard dimensions of a business card are approximately 5.5 by 8.5 cm. Someone makes the markings manually, drawing a business card geometric shapes from the “Insert” tab, someone uses tables. But all this is too long and confusing. It's much easier to do this:

  • create a Microsoft Word document;
  • select the “Mailouts” tab on the toolbar, which is located at the top of the screen;
  • in the upper left corner, in the “Create” field, click on the “Stickers” label;
  • Click on the “Options” button. From the list of sticker suppliers, select “Avery US Letter”;
  • change the type to 5371, 5377, 5372 or 5376, click “OK”;
  • enter all the necessary information in the “Address” field, which is located at the top of the “Stickers” window;
  • click “Create”.

The program will automatically mark the sheet to fit standard business card sizes. And it will immediately display the text entered in the “Address” field. All you have to do is edit its location on the future business card and add the company logo. And, of course, print out a business card.

Paper and printing

You have already learned how to make a business card in Word 2010. Nothing complicated: basic operations that even a person who doesn’t have much sympathy for modern technologies can master. digital technologies. All that remains is to choose the paper and printing method. You're not going to cut business cards from thin A4 sheets intended for official documentation, are you?

The most affordable option is white coated paper with a density of about 250 - 300 g/m². Cheap and convenient. You can print such business cards on a regular inkjet printer, at home or right at your workplace.

Designer textured paper imitating linen, metal or silk will cost more. Since it has a high density and significant weight, the cards will have to be printed in a printing house. But such business cards look much more impressive and interesting.

I think every entrepreneur or big company I would like people to know about them as much as possible more people. To do this, you can use advertising, notices and business cards. Now let's talk in more detail about small business cards that can be found in many people's pockets or wallets.

They are created by special companies. They can come up with a template for you, having first learned all the necessary information, or they can listen to your wishes regarding color, font and design in general. But if you don’t want to spend money, then you can make business cards yourself using the popular Word editor.

Let's learn how to make business cards. I’ll tell you where to find a ready-made template for a business card in Word, and show you step by step how to create a business card in Word from scratch.

Creation Rules

First, let's figure out what information should be written on a small piece of paper: the company logo (if there is one) and its name, last name, first name and patronymic of the person and his position, contact phone numbers and email address, address where you can find your company. Let's look at everything with examples.

If you need to advertise your own business, then it is best to focus on your logo and name. Also write what services you provide and your contact information. The two-sided business card option is most suitable, but printing it so that both sides match will not be easy.

If you work in a company and want to interest a person. In order for it to come specifically to you, in addition to the logo and contacts, you must indicate your name and position. Also pay attention that the color of the business card matches the products you offer.

Everything can be done without bright colors, but it is important to place the text correctly so that a person pays attention to what is needed. For example, this card may not have a dentist logo, but there is a picture of a tooth. Therefore, when a person starts looking for a dental business card, he will easily find it among the others.

Decorating with flowers, ornaments, circles and stripes may also not always be appropriate. If you sell puppies, work in a bank, or want to become a nanny, then you don’t need to choose a similar design. But if you creative person, and your work is related, for example, to manicure or makeup, then flowers will do.

What you should pay attention to if you want to make a business card in Word beautiful and at the same time informative:

  1. Don't use large font. Sizes 10 to 14 are best.
  2. The color of the text should match the selected background. In fact, it is better to choose one color, but make the background more saturated and the text lighter. Or vice versa - choose a light background and write dark on it.
  3. Don't use different fonts. Choose one, maximum two and that's enough.
  4. Think carefully about color. You need to choose not the one you like most, but the one that will be most associated with the product or service being offered.
  5. The size of the business card should be 5*9 cm.

It will download and open in a new Word document. Most often, there are 10 cards on a sheet: 5 in each column (there are two of them). Now all you have to do is change the contact information in the fields provided, print everything out and cut it.

Depending on which template you downloaded:

  1. When you enter text in one block, on all other business cards it will also change in the corresponding blocks. This is shown by example.
  2. If the text does not automatically change, then it is best to fill out the blocks on the first card, and then simply copy the text and paste it into the corresponding blocks on all other cards.

How to make business cards yourself

If not a single business card template in Word is suitable, then you can create it yourself, using all the available functions of the editor itself. As an example, I will create a sample business card in Word, in which I will indicate where and by whom I work. Let's start step by step to figure out how to do everything. I will show you in Word 2016, but everything will work for you if you use 2010 and 2013. For those who have MS Office 2007 installed, the names of the items may be slightly different.

  1. Create a new document and change the fields in it.

To do this, go to the Layout tab, click the button and select Narrow.

  1. Draw a rectangle for the business card.

Open the tab, click "Shapes" and select from the list "Rectangle". When the cursor changes to a plus sign, draw a shape on the sheet.

  1. Please provide the exact dimensions of your business card.

Select the shape, open "Drawing Tools"– “Format” and in the block indicate the height – 5 cm, width – 9 cm.

  1. Change the text wrapping.

This is necessary so that the business card can be moved to any place on the sheet, and also, in the future, the shape with all the added text can be grouped so that it becomes one whole object.

Select "Drawing Tools"– “Format” and from the options click “Behind the text”.

  1. Choose a background for your business card.

There are several options here.

First. Just select the rectangle and at "Shape Fill" select No Fill. Then the business card will be white and you can add text and a drawing or logo to it in a contrasting color.

Second. At this point you can select the appropriate color for the card.

Third. To make the background more interesting, try adding a gradient. To do this in the menu "Shape Fill" select “Gradient” and decide on the option. Then open the same menu and select "Other gradient fills".

A separate window may open for you, or, like me, a panel with settings will appear on the right (it all depends on the version of Word: 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016). On the tab "Shape Options" Click on the paint bucket, mark the “Gradient” option below with a marker and experiment with the parameters: change the angle, add dots, change colors, etc.

Fourth. If you don’t want to choose the color yourself, then you can choose a suitable option from the Internet. Just type in the search "background for business cards". Then you can click on any of the proposed topics.

When you find a suitable option, click on the picture.

Right-click on the image and select from the context menu "Save Image As".

In the Explorer window that opens, select a location on your computer where to save the picture and give it a name - “File name”. Also, make sure that “JPEG Image” is written in the “File type” field. Click "Save".

To make a downloaded image the background in the menu "Shape Fill" select "Picture".

In the next window, click .

Open the folder on your computer where you saved the picture, select it and click “Insert”. After this, the image will be clearly inserted into the boundaries of the previously created rectangle.

  1. Add a logo.

If you need to create a business card in Word for a company or for a person who works in a certain organization, then it is best to insert the corresponding logo on the card.

To do this, go to the tab and click on the “Drawings” button.

Find the desired logo on your computer (if it is not there, you must first create it in some graphics editor), select the picture with a mouse click and insert it into the document.

You can read about how to correctly add one image to another in the article:.

Move the added logo by hovering your mouse over the border. You can change the size of the picture using the markers located on the frame.

  1. Paste the text onto the business card.

Draw a rectangle the right size and type text in it.

Then you need to remove “Fill” and “Shape Outline” by selecting “No Fill” and “No Outline” respectively. Please note that the block with the inscription itself must be selected.

Select the text, go to the Home tab and select the appropriate font and letter size. Place the inscription “Centered”.

Remember that it is better to use the selected font for all other inscriptions, and the letters should not be larger than 14 font.

Many beautiful fonts cannot be applied to Russian text. So you can download from our website and choose one of them.

Now let's move on to the design of what has been written. Select the text and open a tab "Drawing Tools"– “Format”. Here you can choose any of ready-made options registration IN "Express styles" Hover your mouse over any of the proposed ones and see how it will look.

If nothing from the ready-made ones fits, then you can format the text yourself. Read more in the article:. To do this, use the buttons "Text Fill" and "Text Outline". There's a button there too "Text effects and design", where from the drop-down menu you can choose to add shadows, reflections, highlights, and more. The main thing is not to overdo it so that the inscription looks in line with the theme and is easy to read.

After formatting the text, select the block itself and copy it using the key combination Ctrl+C.

Insert a block using the combination Ctrl+V. This is necessary so as not to have to do everything all over again: create a block with an inscription, remove the background and border, and format what is written.

Move the block to the desired place on the business card, change the text, font, you may have to change the color and remove some effects.

Just as in the example the inscription “Copywriter” is formatted, I will have all the other information written. Therefore, I copy it and paste it the required number of times. Then I place the blocks on the card in the right places.

Including not quite trivial ones, like for a regular text editor. In Word you can not only work with documents, write scientific works, articles or reports, but also, for example, create your own business card. Although nowadays they are not used as often as before, they are still convenient and have not completely outlived their usefulness. There are more advanced graphic editors that allow you to draw a card much better, but such programs are not cheap, and to work with them you need to have special knowledge. In Word you can make a pretty decent business card in a few minutes. In this article we will take a closer look at how to make a business card in Word. Let's figure it out. Go!

You can perform many tasks in a text editor

You need to start by setting page parameters. To do this, go to the Layout tab and set the margins to 1 cm or a little less. Next, you need to create a table. Open the “Insert” tab and create a 2x5 table, that is, 2 columns and 5 rows. The next step is to set the height and width settings for the card. The standard values are 9 cm in width and 5 cm in height. You can ignore this by making your business card the size you want. Just keep in mind that all business card holders and special compartments in other accessories are designed for this format. Let's set the required values. Select the table and open its properties. Going to the “String” tab, check the “Height” checkbox and enter the height value (in our case it is 5 cm). Then, in the “Column” tab, check the “Width” checkbox and enter the appropriate number (for example, 9 cm). Don't forget to confirm the entered parameters.

After that, in the same table properties window, click on the “Parameters” button. There you need to set the default margins of all cells to 0 cm. Next, remove unnecessary dividing lines, leaving only those along which you will cut business cards. You can make the borders light so that they are visible when you cut out the cards, but they will be much less noticeable on an already made business card. To do this, select "Borders and Shading" under "Format" and select "All" under "Type." Set any color, light tones. Set the width to a quarter centimeter.

Now that the base is done, let's move on to the text. Enter your full name, company name, position and contacts that you consider necessary to indicate. The text should be readable, so you should not use sophisticated fonts that may make the letters difficult to recognize. Also remember to indent so that all the information is not located right next to the borders.

After you have entered the text in the cell, you need to fill in all the others. This problem can be solved by simple copying. To speed up the process, triple-click on the cell with the text, placing the cursor on the last line, and hold down Ctrl, while holding down the key, you can drag the selected text into the cell, then select two, four, six, and so on. This approach will significantly speed up the process if you are going to print a large number of cards. Please note that you should use thick paper for printing. You should understand that it will not be possible to create a truly beautiful and serious business card in Word, and in this case it is better to contact a printing house.

Hello friends! A short preamble. A business card is a useful thing because it is convenient. All the information that we want to leave about ourselves is on a small piece of paper or other alternative material, right down to wood and metal. Business card is a component of branding, and since everyone wants to have an original face, the development process (selection of ideas) can take a long time. Even if you order the development of a business card from professionals for thousands of rubles and a half, they are not psychics - they need to clearly set the task. Regular Word can be an excellent tool for creating a business card template, if we do not use Photoshop. Some simple steps I want to show you.

First you need to prepare a picture that will be used as a logo. You can search for images on the Internet or in Word itself. I've already talked about this. For example, my fictional company is engaged in the construction of country houses, and I found a funny picture on this topic.

Create a new document or open a prepared one, click on the word “INSERT” → Drawing on the panel (my actions in Office 2010).

We select the image intended for our business card and insert it into the document.

Here we can change the size of the picture by dragging its corner. This can be done later. It’s better to immediately choose to wrap the image “behind the text”, then we can do everything we need with it.

Next came something interesting and exciting – the “color” tab. You can play with shades, contrast, and brightness, and make transparent background. If you want to remove the background, you need to select “set transparent” and click on the background field with a pencil. Word offers many possibilities, and it depends on the taste and preferences of the person. I didn’t think too much, because my task is to show how this is done in principle.

All that remains is to enter the information, and then bring the business card to its finished form - for printing. Font type, size, location – choose whatever your heart desires. A dedicated link may appear if we specify the site address. You just need to delete it by highlighting it and pressing the right mouse button. It is advisable to do this closer to the end. Word can also underline unfamiliar word. You can remove this line by using a spell check (skip or add an underlined word).

Now the business card is almost ready. All that remains is to take a screenshot and crop it in a graphics editor. I like . You can also add a general background color if you haven’t done this in Word. There are a lot of functions in the editor.

This is such a poisonous business card I got. There are different standards (both European and American), but we accept business cards measuring 9*5 cm. The main thing is that the business card fits into the business card holder. If you perform cropping in FastStone, when you change the size (there is such a function), you can see centimeters, and not just pixels.

It doesn’t matter in what order the actions will be performed (picture - text or vice versa).
