Nurlan was born and raised in the city of Stepnogorsk, located in northern Kazakhstan. As a child, the boy was fond of sports and went to the boxing section for 8 years. Sports and good genetics have led to the fact that today appearance Nurlan is quite TV-like: he is 188 cm tall and has a toned figure.

In December 2017, as part of his tour, Nurlan Saburov gave eleven concerts in Kazakhstan, and in January 2018, ten in Russia. Education
Nurlan graduated from high school without any special problems. The certificate allowed him to move from Kazakhstan to the Urals, where he eventually entered the local Ural Federal University at the Faculty of Physical Education. A few years later, Nurlan graduated with honors, receiving a specialty in organizing work with youth. At that time, Nurlan performed on the KVN stage on a regular basis, falling in love with the local audience.
And it was then that the comedian discovered completely the new kind humor - stand-up. Like many other local guys, he learned about this phenomenon thanks to foreign comedians, who at that time had already become classics of the genre. Having familiarized himself with many performances of classics, Nurlan Saburov was finally convinced that this is exactly what he would like to do in life,
But, unfortunately, until recently little was known about stand-up in Russia. And even more so, our country did not have its own successful comedians working in this genre. The reason for this was the late development of television and the abundance of censorship, which is practically non-existent abroad.

Before you get to the popular domestic show TNT StandUp channel, Nurlan has been gaining experience for a long time together with like-minded people, with whom he periodically gave performances in hometown. About family and childhood
Thanks to my grandfather, I was surrounded by great humor and jokes from childhood. He also brought me to boxing when I was 7 years old. I studied it diligently from the first to the eighth grade, but did not show outstanding success. Probably, I subconsciously understood that I did not plan to engage in it professionally, which is why I decided to leave the sport.
About KVN
My friend and I loved watching KVN and tried to write humorous sketches ourselves. Once they even organized their own concert at school, and it was paid. Naturally, all this happened without the director’s knowledge, and we planned to spend the collected money on playing FIFA. In 9th grade, we decided to develop our careers and started going to weddings and anniversaries.
For example, we could easily show up at someone’s holiday and say: “We perform for your guests for 10 minutes, and you pay us 3 thousand tenge for it.” Once in this way we managed to earn not even 3, but 4 thousand tenge!
Actually, this was my first fee as a comedian. However, I had no idea that our initiative would develop into something more. Perhaps deep down I wanted to make a living from humor, but in reality I had no idea how to do it.
The first thoughts about possible prospects appeared only after a series of successes for our KVN team.
When the question of an institute arose, my friend suggested that I enter the Ural Federal University to major in “Organization of Work with Youth.” In Yekaterinburg, in principle, the quality level of KVN (just remember “ Ural dumplings"), and the opportunity to study and, at the same time, do what I like, finally tipped the scales in favor of UrFU. With grief in half, I passed the entrance exams and moved to Yekaterinburg, where my acquaintance with the genre of stand-up comedy began.
In the city there were many former KVN players and participants in the show “Killer League” on the TNT channel who tried to do stand-up. Then the “Stand Up is Alive” project appeared, and I joined its team and began to help organizational issues, and later connected the creative component. I wrote jokes, performed at the stand-up parties we organized every month, and grew a lot over the course of the year along with the project.
About getting on TNT
At the end of 2013 with big concert Dmitry Romanov came to Yekaterinburg, noted my performance and offered to speak on TNT. In January 2014, I sent the guys from show Stand Up his video, and then came to the “Open Microphone” section several times. Then there were 3 more shootings, after which I was offered to become an official resident of the show.
I still remember my first broadcast performance. My knees were shaking, and somewhere in the fifth minute of the monologue I forgot the text. After my debut in the television version of Stand Up, I realized that with proper discipline and hard work, you can regularly produce material. I started working under this scheme in Yekaterinburg, and then I was invited to move to Moscow.
About Stand Up
First of all, I do stand-up comedy because I like it, although, of course, people's reactions are also important. It's great when your jokes are understood and accepted, ideally if they also carry an important message. There are also jokes for the sake of instant effect. It’s also nice to shock people, which is what I sometimes try to do in my monologues.
About jokes
Not all situations that a comedian talks about in his speeches actually happen to him in life. Typically, a monologue consists of 50% truth and 50% fiction. There are also minimally truthful jokes, in which only the basis is real, and everything else is a flight of the comedian’s imagination. Want to know why this happens? Stand Up is not a story about a person going on stage and telling jokes. This is a story about attitude to life, people, feelings, events and so on. This is, first of all, a performance by a personality, not a person who came to make people laugh.
There is only one criterion for evaluating a joke - whether it is funny or not. There is no third. If we are talking about Stand Up, then the context is very important here. Even the most sensitive topics can be given the right form. Sometimes during a performance I may offend someone sitting in the audience, but this is a performance, nothing more. And although everyone has their own ethical standards, and it is impossible to please everyone, in all my time I have never encountered misunderstanding or aggression.
There were a couple of complaints e-mail, but, fortunately, usually the viewer senses the very necessary context of the joke and treats it with humor.
If I do stand-up comedy, this does not mean that I joke everywhere and on everyone. Yes I can Everyday life make jokes, but my humor only applies to close people.
It’s even more strange when a person expects eternal positivity from me or thinks that I must certainly joke even in the most ordinary conversation. You don't have to do that.
I often perform in Kazakhstan, I have already given concerts in Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Baikonur, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Aktobe. Stand Up has its own audience and its own characteristics everywhere.
For example, the Kazakh viewer is different from the Russian one. We Kazakhs are a cheerful people, but for now this matter does not concern us. We are reluctant to joke about ourselves. In Russia they are more relaxed about this: here they laugh at themselves and at others equally.
About personal life
I got married in quite at a young age(I'm 25 years old now). There haven’t been any significant changes since I started doing stand-up comedy professionally. Just as we were together initially, we are moving forward together, only the location is changing: Stepnogorsk, Yekaterinburg, Moscow. I also have a daughter and a pug.
In my monologues, I often talk about the fact that I didn’t have a turbulent youth, but I don’t regret it. Everything is fine with me, and there is no feeling that something global has passed me by.
The spouse treats jokes about herself quite adequately. There has never been a situation where we had a conflict on this topic. I test all my jokes on her: if she laughs at them, I leave them. Even if the wife is against it. It seems to me that I have long ago crossed all the lines of permissibility in jokes about my personal life, but, thank God, this does not offend her and other relatives. You can joke “darkly” about anyone: o a loved one, O stranger and even about the president. The main thing is the context.
Besides Stand Up, I am interested in basketball. I don’t have much free time and I usually spend it with my family. By the way, even though we are young married couple, but we don’t like parties and prefer to relax at home.
About daily work, inspiration and plans for the future
The guys from the Stand Up show on TNT and I are not just colleagues. After all, we do the same thing, so there is a creative closeness between us. Sometimes we even help write jokes to each other, but not often. It happens that the style of a joke does not fit into the monologue or it works better from another comedian. In such cases, you simply give him the idea so that he can spin it in his own way.
Stand Up is work. I don’t sit in a beret and a scarf, I don’t throw my humorous sketches onto the canvas. Most often, I spend time in the office, continuously tapping on the keyboard under the quiet creaking of the light bulb. A comedian, like a sponge, absorbs current events in the world and in his family, adds to them past experience, a vision of the present and future - and cooks it all in one cauldron, from which ideas are then born. This is how humorous baggage accumulates.

I don't know where what I'm doing now will lead. I would like to create a series, film or show in this direction, and fully participate in its production from start to finish. Where and when will it be? It's hard to answer yet. Right now the thoughts in my head are a little hazy. Sometimes I think about both the West and America, but time will tell. I think that in the near future I will remain in Russia for now.
