For Pika himself, such success came as a surprise, but he did not disown his hit, but, on the contrary, plunged headlong into dance music - he released an EDM track with the chorus “She dances on my ue” and announced an EP of six “happy hardcore tracks".

Jah Khalib

“If anything, I am Bach” is the name of the album released in September by an artist named Bakhtiyar Mamedov, aka Jah Khalib. You can make fun of the name as much as you like, but this minimal boundary between the listener and the performer is in many ways what made Jah Khalib the hero of the VKontakte public pages. A jazz saxophonist from Almaty, who began working in the studio at the age of 13, he writes songs where he sings: “You are like the whole universe,” “I will hug you against the background of a scarlet sunset, my Leila, gentle Leila.” These songs, which sound like a very light (and very Russian) version of Drake, end up in playlists on girls’ pages on VKontakte, and the group Jah Khalib on this social network has almost half a million people. He is equally eagerly awaited in both Chisinau and Yekaterinburg. “I make music for ordinary people to listen to,” he says in an interview, and this is the very case when what is desired is equal to what is actually realized.

ATL "Bees"

Calling him a new artist is a bit of a stretch: ATL first appeared on the radar back in 2008 as part of the now defunct Cheboksary group Aztecs (one of the ex-members of Aztecs now assists ATL on stage, the other writes music). But what was then and now is heaven and earth.

The title of last year's breakthrough ATL album Marabou clearly references Irvine Welsh's book, and throughout the record you'll also find title quotes from works by Daniel Keyes and Hunter Thompson. The album itself is a ten-track rap opera on the theme of post-apocalypse. Don't be so quick to think of ATL as some kind of geeky, puny smartass; his music is primarily dance music. His concerts look like this: a straight barrel is beating, two broad-shouldered figures (both in black) are shamanizing on stage, squeezing all the juice out of the people in the hall. In February, when he and his team performed in Moscow, the small Brooklyn club was besieged by people wanting to get there - a queue lined up, as if for a Serov exhibition taking place at the same time. Now Basta expresses respect to him and invites him to the festival of his label “Gazgolder”, and in October ATL leaves for a tour scheduled almost until the New Year.

Alphavite

The popular rap battle "Versus" has a junior league; It’s called Fresh Blood, and its motto is: “From noname to star.” Alphavite became its first winner - and this rule applied completely to him. The 22-year-old tall bearded man from Almaty systematically, round after round, crushed his opponents and charmed the judges. At other times, he took advantage by making cruel jokes at the expense of his opponent. In others, he could not be afraid to tell a self-exposing story about how he, drunk, said something rude to another Russian rapper, and he beat him. Thirdly, he destroyed the enemy with his reading, flow and charisma.

Following the victory at Versus, Alphavite won another large-scale contest, Beats & Vibes, aired on MTV. After which he announced that he would temporarily give up battle rap and focus on songwriting. According to the conditions of victory, he was entitled to shoot a professional video. A mixture of minor melodious hip-hop and raggamuffin, simple truths in the spirit of “I shake the paw of the one who is in smithereens / For the family, for our own, one love” listeners loved so much that the simple video for the title song exceeded a million views, and on At the very first concert there was a soldier out in a club with a thousand capacity. Just the other day, the second part of “Hajime” was released: there the duo still does not pay attention to the trends and revolutions taking place in hip-hop, captivating the listener with some of their special sincerity.

Rickey F

Rickey F is another battle star who is gradually outgrowing the boundaries of YouTube fame. What brought him popularity was the so-called cancer round on Versus: for 10 minutes, the rapper imagined that his opponent had brain cancer and joked evilly about it. For example, like this: “If there was less water in your head, cancer would not have settled there.” Or like this: “When your boyfriend asks you to get into a doggy position, you stick your head out.” As a result, it was not he who won the Fresh Blood league, but it was Rickey F who received the most important thing from the battle - they began to recognize him on the streets.

He doesn’t have a single release yet, and in general there are not many songs - there are about a dozen of them on VKontakte (and if you thought that all of his rap is a story about giggling, then no: for Rickey F it is in the order of things to write tracks based on Lovecraft books). There is no big hit, no beautiful video, no song from which you can make memes and “sow” it on VKontakte. Nevertheless, their joint tour with Alphavite will start this fall, which will cover more than 20 cities. There is no doubt - after each concert there will be a queue of people wanting to take a photo with the Versus star.

"Mushrooms"

There won’t be a detailed conversation about the group “Mushrooms”, because at the moment they only have two videos. The first, “Intro,” is an almost frame-by-frame retelling

“99 Problems” by Jay Z, only in the scenery of a Kyiv residential area. After its release, the YouTube counter spun wildly - synchronously with the counter of the participants of the “Mushrooms” public on VKontakte. The “Cops” video, released in September, repeated its success, collecting two million views in a couple of weeks.

Nevertheless, it is known that “Mushrooms” was started by a Kiev show business figure and former break dancer Yuri Bardash, the driving force behind the Kruzheva label responsible for the relaunch of the Quest Pistols project and the husband of the singer Luna. Together with him are two Kyiv rappers, 4atty and Symptom NZHN - they did not appear yesterday, but they could not boast of any decisive successes before “Mushrooms”. The video blogger Kyivstoner can be considered an equally important member of the group, creating absurdist sketches at the beginning of each video. In the fall, the group will give their first concert in Moscow - according to available information, in a fairly spacious club. There is every reason to assume that “Mushrooms” will no longer do this with just two songs.
