Seats on the A320 aircraft. "Airbus A320": description, interior layout, best seats, photos

For flights on domestic and international routes, Aeroflot airline uses medium-haul passenger Airbuses of the A320 model in two configurations. Today there are 79 units.

The Airbus A320, almost 38 m long, is designed for a flight range of 4,000 km. The maximum height reached is 12.2 km. Cruising speed – 830 km/h.

When going on an air trip on Aeroflot's Airbus 320, passengers can pre-select the best seat in the cabin for comfortable accommodation during the flight. In the article we will talk about the Airbus 320 of Aeroflot airline, where the plane flies, and also consider the cabin layout and determine comfortable seats in economy and business class.

Description of Airbus A320 of Aeroflot airline

A major Russian air carrier uses Airbus 320 in two configurations on its flights, distinguished by the number of rows and seats in the economy and business class cabins.

Airbus A320 – 20C:

  • the first 5 rows are a salon consisting of paired seats arranged in two rows with a wide space between the seats;
  • from 6 to 25 row - consisting of 20 rows with an arrangement of seats of 6 in each (3x3 layout);
  • the total number of seats is 140 (in the business cabin - 20, in the economy cabin - 120).

Airbus A320 – 8C:

  • the first 2 rows are business class, where there are 8 seats in a 2x2 layout in each row;
  • from rows 6 to 30 - economy class, consisting of 25 rows, each with seats in a 3x3 arrangement;
  • the total number of seats is 158, of which 8 are in the business cabin and 150 are in the economy cabin.

Interior layout

Where is the most comfortable place to sit in an Airbus 320?

The Airbus 320, like other Aeroflot airliners, has the most comfortable and inconvenient places to accommodate passengers. When purchasing tickets, a traveler can choose the best option, taking into account personal preferences. The service for the best seats in the cabin is provided on a paid basis.

To carry out your planned trip in comfort, we suggest studying the features of some seats in the business and economy cabins. This information will allow you to make the right choice.

In economy class

On the Airbus A320-20C, economy class covers 20 rows, starting from row 6. It is located immediately behind the partition separating the cabin from business class. Between the seats in the 6th row and the wall there is expanded legroom, allowing you to take a comfortable body position. The advantages of this row also include the availability of a large selection of dishes and drinks from the menu, since it is from this part of the cabin that flight attendants begin serving passengers.

Row 6 in economy class is an excellent seat for flying with small children. On the front partition there are special fastenings for fixing the baby cradle. You can familiarize yourself with the rules for flying with Aeroflot with a baby.

Row 7 – standard seats without any special disadvantages or advantages.

Rows 8-9 – inconvenient seats near the emergency exit, with restrictions on seat backrest deflection. There is also no good view from the windows, which is due to the close location of the aircraft's wings, which block the entire view.

Row 10 is located near the emergency exit. Here, the expanded space between the seats with a functioning backrest reclining mechanism prevails. Convenient locations have only one drawback - the absence of one armrest on chairs A and F.

The most comfortable seats in the 10th row - B, C, D, E - can be booked in advance by paying the amount according to the carrier's tariff. However, such seats cannot be occupied by disabled people, pensioners, pregnant women, minor children and passengers with animals. This rule is established by the carrier solely for safety purposes. You can familiarize yourself with the rules for flying animals on Aeroflot aircraft.

From rows 11 to 14 – standard seats with limited visibility from the window (close proximity of the aircraft’s wings).

Row 25 is the most inconvenient for flying. There are several disadvantages: close location to the toilet, limited seat backrest deflection, and strong audibility of engine noise in the rear of the aircraft.

Aeroflot also carries out passenger transportation on Airbus A320 - 8C. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the most comfortable and inconvenient seats in the cabin of the aircraft of this model.

Advantages and disadvantages of passenger seats in the economy cabin:

  1. The first row of economy class is 6, located immediately behind the business class partition. There is increased legroom in front of the seats. On the partition there is equipment for attaching a baby cradle. Comfortable seats for pregnant women and passengers with children. We also suggest that you familiarize yourself with -.
  2. Rows 12-18 - seats with poor visibility from the windows, hidden by the wings of the aircraft.
  3. Rows 12-13 – emergency exit seats with a locked backrest reclining mechanism.
  4. On the 14th row there are seats of increased comfort, located near the emergency exit. There is increased legroom in front of the seats. Working mechanism for tilting the seat backs.
  5. Row 30 – located at the rear of the aircraft. Here you can hear more engine noise and feel more turbulence. Disadvantages also include the close location to the toilet room and the non-working mechanism for reclining the seat backs.

In business class

In the Airbus 320 with the 20C layout, business class occupies the first five rows in the bow of the aircraft. All chairs in this salon have an extended seat. There is a large space between the seats for a convenient location. The seats are equipped with a folding mechanism. There is a large passage between the rows.

No particular shortcomings were identified in the business class cabin. Some discomfort can be created by proximity to the toilet room for passengers in the first row in the cabin and being next to the economy class partition behind the seats in the last row.

In an airliner with an 8C layout, business class occupies only the first two rows. There are also high-comfort passenger seats installed here. There are fastenings on the wall for fixing the baby cradle.

Where does Airbus 320 fly Aeroflot

Aeroflot Airbus 320 departs for domestic and international flights over short distances. The most popular routes: St. Petersburg, Sochi, Crimea, Türkiye, Mallorca, etc.

To make your flight on the Airbus A320 as comfortable as possible, book the best seats in the cabin in advance! Business class passengers can reserve the most comfortable seat for free, which is included in the tariff plan. For travelers choosing economy class, this service is available for an additional fee according to the carrier’s current tariffs.

From the moment of commissioning A320 absolutely surpassed all other civil aircraft in terms of the use of high technology - both in aerodynamics and in the field of on-board equipment.

History of creation

After ten years of discussions, in which almost all aircraft manufacturers in Europe took part, the consortium Airbus Industry in 1981, he began implementing a project for a 150-seat airliner for short- and medium-haul routes.

At that time, aircraft with large
passenger capacity, so two cars with 154 and 172 seats were taken into development. These were two models A320-100 And A320-200, but in 1984 such a project was abandoned in favor of one 162-seat vehicle. The new project included two versions of the aircraft, differing only in the capacity of the fuel tanks and the designation A320-100 And A320-200 remains relevant.

First flight A320

The new aircraft was first flown on February 22, 1987, under the name A320-100, only 21 aircraft were produced in the series of such airliners. Second option A320-200 became the main representative of airliners A320, the airworthiness certificate for this model was issued in November 1988. This plane is different from A320-100 increased maximum take-off weight, wingtips with delta-shaped winglets and an additional fuel tank of 8016 liters in the center section.

Consortium Airbus is constantly working to modernize its aircraft, a program has been launched New Engine Option by equipment A320 new economical power plants. Pratt & Whitney engines PW1000G According to the company's management, operating costs will be reduced by 20%, and the airliner itself will receive improved aerodynamics and a new passenger cabin design.
The Russian company Transaero has signed a firm contract for the purchase of 8 units А320neo, which began to enter service in 2015.

Design features of the A320 airliner

According to its aerodynamic design A320 is a monoplane with a low-swept wing, under which engines are located on both sides and a single-fin tail.

The airliner's wing is thin with high aerodynamic efficiency, all mechanization is made of composite materials, the fin and the leading edge of the stabilizer are also made of composite. Side winglets on the wing tips save fuel and reduce induced drag.

Airbus A320 - flying throughout Europe

Power plants since 1989 have been equipped with the quietest and most powerful engines in their class, the V2500. Engines A320 during takeoff mode they produce a noise level of no more than 82 decibels. The aircraft has a three-wheel landing gear, each bogie has two wheels. The main struts are retracted in flight into the center section, the nose strut is retracted into the front part of the fuselage.

A distinctive feature of the aircraft is fly-by-wire control. In the cockpit, the commander on the left side and the co-pilot on the right have two sidesticks, replacing the usual steering wheel. The sidesticks do not have a direct connection with the control surfaces; any deviation is calculated by the computer and the signal from it gives a command to the hydraulic drive to deflect the rudders.

These side control sticks freed up space for the pilots' fold-down tables and improved visibility of the six color LCD displays, two directly in front of the pilots and two in the center of the instrument panel. The displays provide pilots with all the information about the navigation situation, the operation of power plants and other equipment of the aircraft.

Passenger cabin A320 made very spacious, the shelves for hand luggage have a large volume, there is a lot of space for cargo on the lower deck and wide hatches for loading luggage. The cabin is lined with modern panels, a touch display on the Flight Attendant Panel, LED lighting for each passenger seat and the ability to change the brightness of the entire cabin lighting from 0 to 100%.

Features of choosing the best places

Flying an airplane is still very tiring and depends on the right seat and A320 gives you the opportunity to spend time in the air calmly and comfortably. The rules for choosing seats are usual; on the booklet, which you can buy at the ticket office, there is a layout of seats in the passenger cabin.

The choice of seat depends on your taste, there is only one peculiarity - the chairs next to the toilet and in the back are the most uncomfortable and restless. If you want to relax and sleep well during the flight, choose a seat near the bulkhead; if you like the view from the window, please look at the ground or admire the view of the clouds.
Aeroflot names the best seats in the cabin A320 the following: in the fourth row - A, B, E, F and in the eleventh - B, C, D, E.

In the cabin A320 The first five rows are considered business class; the seats in these rows can be reclined far back without creating inconvenience for passengers in adjacent rows. Business class has seating for baby cots, but no dedicated legroom.

Economy class is separated by a partition; the distance between the seats is less than in business class, but the backrest can be reclined to its full extent without interference. The chairs in front of the partition have their inconveniences; if you don’t bring reading literature, you will have to look at the wall all the time, but service begins from this row.

a320 - interior

Due to the proximity of the toilet, seats in the twenty-fourth row are the most restless; children and older people are not recommended to purchase seats in the tenth and ninth rows. The location of the fourth and eleventh row seats near the emergency hatch makes them the safest. The passenger cabin is not comfortable enough for a tall person due to the technical features of the aircraft, but despite all these errors, “ Airbus 320» is considered quite convenient for this class. Have a good flight!

Many people love to travel, preferring to choose the best airlines for themselves and their loved ones. But still, some passengers find it difficult to endure the flight. Because of this, it is extremely important to choose the right seats in the cabin. Let's look at the design nuances of one of the popular models among most airlines - the Airbus A320.

This airliner is capable of transporting passengers over the longest distances – up to 6,150 kilometers. Initially, two series of Airbus A320 were designed: 100–200 Sharklets. Both series are almost identical. But today there is only one model in operation, the one listed first. The builders refused to move forward with the second design option. Today, most people prefer to fly on board this series. Aeroflot Group offers 68 such aircraft for passengers.

The first airliner was created in 1987 and very quickly gained popularity among passengers. The plane can accommodate up to 200 people. Rossiya Airlines, part of the Aeroflot group, has several aircraft with a capacity of 168 seats.Initially, this aircraft included a sufficient number of positive aspects: convenient placement of luggage thanks to large shelves, spacious hatches for loading luggage, and a fairly spacious interior.

At the beginning of the 21st century, developers improved the model and added some useful functions for passengers. The luggage racks have become larger, the brightness of the lighting has increased - today each passenger independently controls the level of light in the cabin - and the interior has changed. The computer network system was also completely updated, and the monitors in the cabin were replaced with LCD displays. Nowadays, this airliner is very popular among passengers due to the comfortable conditions and minimal cost of the flight.

This aircraft is one of the most comfortable Airbus aircraft. Manufacturers have taken good care of the convenience of flight, quality of service and savings on tickets. But in order to choose the most comfortable seats for a comfortable flight, you should know the location of the seats on the plane. We will look at a model that belongs to Aeroflot in order to evaluate the positive aspects and identify the shortcomings of the interior of this airliner.

Seating

The arrangement of seats in the cabin is available in several options. But each is as comfortable as possible for passengers. There are rows of seats on both sides. Moreover, these aircraft models have cabins for two comfort classes. There are such variations for each of the rows:

  • four seats;
  • five chairs;
  • six places.

Traditionally, business class seats are located at the head of the aircraft and have a 2+2 layout. Airbus was no exception. In the design that we will consider, under the seats the first five rows were allocated with an increased level of designer comfort. Distance between seats t It's quite small, but such an opening is enough to move around calmly without disturbing your neighbor.

People purchasing tickets for the first line take into account several special nuances of this row. The developers took care of the children and attached a cradle holder to the partition. In addition, it is impossible that the backrest will recline on the traveler - after all, in front of the seats in the first line there is a pilot cabin partition. However, there are no foot steps.

The last row of business class seats is not the best choice for people who want to work or just sit in silence during a flight. The proximity of a noisy common room will not meet such expectations.

Now let's move on to the places. In the model under consideration, these are seats that are located from the sixth to twenty-fifth rows. This will require a detailed analysis, because some seats here are equipped with mobile armrests, which slightly reduce the free space for the passenger to sit. In addition, there are also improved seats - space seats. However, to travel in such a seat, the passenger undertakes to meet the requirements stated by the airline. And for these seats they usually ask for an additional payment.

Economy class cabin details

Let's move on to studying the general interior of the aircraft. The sixth line seats are behind a partition that separates both classes. Such chairs have positive and negative sides. We list these nuances as follows:

  1. Restrictions on seat folding. There is no way to fully recline the seat back for a comfortable rest. This inconvenience is due to the very small distance between the rows.
  2. Food selection. Food and drinks begin to be served from this row of places.
  3. Small space in front of the seat. There is enough room for a comfortable knee position, but you will not be able to fully extend your legs.
  4. Probability of being close to children. Holders for bassinets are attached to the partition, so it is possible that there may be passengers with babies in adjacent seats.
  5. Limited View. Not every person will like to look at the wall or ceiling all the time. It is advisable to choose these seats for people who plan to sleep or work during the flight.

In the seventh row of such models, seats 7B, 7C, 7D, 7E are equipped with mobile armrests. Accordingly, it is better for people with a heavy build to think about such a choice - after all, the design provides for increased seating space. The seats in the eighth and ninth rows do not provide the ability to recline the seat. The reason for this is the escape hatches located on rows 9 and 10. In this case, the seats cannot definitely be called the worst places, but still they are located next to the emergency exits, which is not very convenient for passengers.

The tenth row seats 10B, 10C, 10D, 10E are slightly more expensive than other seats located on board. These are the notorious space seats. These chairs have a full reclining function. In addition, experts find many positive aspects here. The distance between the previous row and these seats is quite large, so you can rest your feet comfortably. You won't have to disturb your neighbors to get up.

Seats 10F and 10A cannot be called the most comfortable, since they are located next to the hatch, as a result of which the seats themselves are curved. The seats are slightly skewed due to their proximity to the emergency escape hatch. But the advantage of these rows is the presence of free legroom and a full-fledged reclining function.

All seats marked B, C, D and E from rows 11 to 25 are equipped with mobile armrests. Please take this into account when checking in for your flight. Moreover, the seats located on the last line imply the inability to recline the chair. The reason for this is the close location to the partition behind which the toilets are located.

Nuances of choice

The article gallery contains photos that make it easy to determine what the Airbus A320 looks like, the interior layout (), the best seats and seats that have disadvantages. In luxury cabins, it is optimal to purchase a boarding pass for seats from the second to fourth rows. By the way, another series of airliners, which involves reducing the cabin of this class to 2 rows, takes away the opportunity to choose.

If we consider standard seats, here experts especially note places 10B, 10C, 10D, 10E. Although these seats can be called the best, there are still negative aspects: it is strictly forbidden to place luggage at the bottom of the seat, so as not to block the exit to the emergency hatches. It will be quite comfortable to travel on seats marked A and F - after all, these are the seats near the windows.

The rows near the emergency exit doors do not accommodate people with children, pets or people with disabilities. After all, the function of opening the hatch in an unusual situation is assigned to such passengers, so physically healthy people who are not carrying oversized luggage sit here.

Now let's move on to rating of the worst places on board. Seats 24D and 24C (in another modification they are located in row 29) are unlikely to live up to the best expectations - not every person will like to fly next to the toilet stalls. But the worst places are in the rear of the cabin. This is 25 (30) row. Firstly, this line borders the toilets. Secondly, the backs of the seats do not recline. It’s not very convenient when you want to relax, but people will pass by you all the time, and sometimes there will be quite a long line to the toilet. You will have to listen to the drain and the slamming of the door all the time. Usually, tickets for such a row are purchased when all the seats are already taken.

Other Features

As we noticed, the Airbus Industrie A320 Jet has positive and negative sides.Chairs that are located near the window are, of course, good - many people like to look at the clouds. But it is worth remembering that this is only possible in daylight and sunny weather outside. If you travel at night, you won't be able to see anything through the window.

An important advantage is that there is no need to let neighbors through. But the negative side of such places lies in the inability to leave the chair without disturbing other people. For people who plan to sleep the entire flight, these seats are suitable.

When choosing economy class seats, try to avoid the last row

The chairs that are located near the aisle are good for the convenience of leaving the place on your own. But there are also negative aspects - if your neighbor needs to go to the toilet, he will ask you to let him through. In addition, passing board workers often touch passengers occupying the seats on the outermost aisle. However, if a person is flying with a child or there is a need to visit the toilet frequently, these seats will be a good solution to the problem.

We will give some recommendations for choosing suitable places. It is best to ask an Aeroflot employee to help you choose the optimal seat according to the parameters. Another option is to print out a diagram of the interior and deliberately select a seat when the plan is in front of your eyes.

Experts consider it inappropriate to choose seats where there is no folding seat function. It is not worth buying for a number of nearby toilets or other service rooms. These simple rules help increase the comfort of your trip.

Expert advice on choosing seats on the Airbus A320

We looked at what the A 320 aircraft is. The layout, the best seats in the cabin and the criteria for choosing seats will help beginners correctly assess the situation when checking in for a flight. In addition, the article provides points that you should pay attention to when planning your trip. If you choose the right seat for yourself, your flight time will be unforgettable.

Air travel is the most convenient and only possible way to cross vast distances in a short time. However, traveling by plane is very tiring and it is important to to book a hotel at your place of arrival and choose the right seat in the cabin that will best suit your needs. Undoubtedly, air carriers provide passengers with a seat layout, but in order to determine which seats on the plane are best to choose, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with useful information about the most popular models of “air trains” that most often fly from well-known airlines.

The largest carrier in the Russian Federation is, of course, Aeroflot, which has filled the airspace with today’s popular Airbus models 319, 320 and 321. These aircraft differ in modifications, number of seats and their location. Let's look at all the features of each model.

The Airbus 320 project began to be developed back in 1984, when the Airbus consortium decided to create an “air machine” capable of becoming a competitor to the Boeing 727. In 1987, the first tests were carried out and the new aircraft made its first flight.

The location of seats on the Airbus 320 aircraft and their number differs depending on the modification. Today there are both models for 150 passengers (in business class, the seats are arranged in two rows, with two seats each, and in economy class there is a 3+3 layout), and liners for 180 people with a single-class cabin. There are also intermediate modifications, so the seat layout on the Airbus 320 aircraft will be different. Before purchasing a ticket, be sure to check the model of the specific aircraft on which you are going to travel.

If we talk about the best and worst seats in the Airbus 320, we will take as an example a model for 180 passengers (single-class cabin):

  • Seats 1 to 29, A and F. These seats are located next to the window. Since these seats are located far from the aisle, flight attendants and other passengers constantly scurrying around will not disturb you.
  • 1 to 29, B and E. The seats are further away from the window, but you can still look out of it. They are also at a distance from the passage.
  • 1 to 29, C and D. These seats are next to the aisle, and in addition to this, you will have to let two passengers sitting next to each other. The only advantages are the ability to stretch your legs into the passage and quick access to the toilet.
  • 1 row. If we talk about the advantages of these seats, then first of all it is worth noting that since no one is sitting in front of you, they will not recline the back of their seat towards you. The 1st row has first access to drinks and food, and thanks to a decent distance from the seat to the wall, you can stretch out your stiff legs without difficulty. Another advantage is that you will be the first to leave the aircraft. Among the disadvantages is the discomfort associated with the fact that you will have to look at the wall the entire flight. It is also worth noting that it is in the first row that women with small children most often sit; few people like this proximity.
  • Rows 12 and 13. These places are considered the safest, as they are located closest to the emergency exit. These rows also have more space, allowing you to retract your legs. However, very often the seats in these areas do not recline.
  • 11th row. The seats are located in front of the emergency exit, which is why they are rarely reclining.
  • Row 29/30. The worst places, as they are closest to the toilet and kitchen. Throughout the flight you will “enjoy” the sounds of the tank flushing, slamming doors and other “delights”.

In addition to the Airbus 320, there is also a smaller version of it, the A 319. The plane, diagram, best seats and their features will also be useful.

The number of seats on an aircraft of this model may also differ depending on the modification. This figure varies from 124 seats (two-class cabin) to 156 seats (single-class cabin). There are dozens of such configurations. To choose the best places, we recommend paying attention to the following nuances:

  • From 1 to 5 row. Most often these are business class seats. There is a little more legroom in the first row, and even very tall people can easily cross their legs. The backrests in business class recline more than the rest of the plane. But, just like in the A320, mothers with children most often sit in the first rows; for this purpose, there are even special fasteners for baby bassinets.
  • 6th row. It’s practically impossible to stretch your legs in this row, but since there will be a wall in front of you, you won’t have to fear that someone will throw the back of the chair back on you. Food starts to be served from row 6, so from the point of view of access to drinks, this location is the most advantageous. But there are also disadvantages - the tables are built into the armrests, which makes the seats a little narrower.
  • 7th row. The seats in this row are located in front of the emergency exit.
  • Row 8, A and F. Uncomfortable seats that are slightly “skewed” towards the hatch. However, these seats have more legroom.
  • Row 8, B,C and D,E. According to statistics, these are the most comfortable and safest economy class seats. They are located closest to the emergency exit and have plenty of legroom. There are restrictions for these seats; passengers with animals, children, people with disabilities and the elderly are not allowed to sit on the seats.

The worst seats are located in the last 21st row, as well as seats C and D in the 20th row. Here, just like in the A320, you will be closer to the toilet, and you will be the last to receive drinks and food.

The A321 model is the largest aircraft of the A320 family; in fact, it is an extended version of it, which is characterized by high capacity. This “air train” has a standard configuration that includes a two-class cabin. The number of passengers is 169 economy class seats and 16 business class seats.

However, you can also find other configurations of the A 321. The aircraft, layout, and best seats may differ depending on the flight range. For example, for charter flights, a modification is made to increase the number of seats to 220 in economy class. To determine which seats are best on an airplane of this model, let’s consider a standard Airbus from Aeroflot.

  • From 1 to 7 row. These are business class seats, however, compared to previous models, they are uncomfortable. In front of the 1st row there is a wall separating the toilet, which does not particularly protect against unwanted sounds. Sitting in row 7, you will hear the noisy economy class. Therefore, when traveling in first class, try to choose a seat located from rows 2 to 6.
  • 8 row. Drinks are served in economy class from this row. In addition, there is more legroom.
  • 18 row. By and large, this row contains standard seats, however, they are located in close proximity to the toilet.
  • Row 19 These are seats located behind the emergency exit, so in this row, like in row 8, there is free space. Of the minuses, restrooms, the visitors of which will cause inconvenience.
  • 20 row. Very comfortable and good places. Although there is no additional legroom in this area, in row 20 the seats are located close to the windows.

The seats in the penultimate and last row (row 30, C and D, as well as row 31), as in the first two cases, are among the most uncomfortable, due to their close location to the restrooms. It is recommended to choose such seats only in a desperate situation.

In custody

As you can see, the seats on the plane, the layout of which you must study in detail, can be located in different ways. To avoid inconvenience, it is best to choose seats at the front of the plane. Seats near the bathroom are the cheapest, but in this area you will suffer from the noise of the toilet and the queues that will form next to you. The chairs behind the emergency exit can be considered the most comfortable, here you do not risk finding yourself next to a crying child or animals, and there will be enough space for tired legs.

The A320 development program was launched in March 1984. The A320 airliner made its first flight on February 22, 1987. It used CFM International CFM56-5A1 engines. After passing flight tests, on February 26, 1988, a JAA (Joint Aviation Authorities) certificate was received and the aircraft began to arrive at Air France. And the first customer from the USA was the airline "".

The initial version, the A320-100, was built in small numbers, but then an improved version, the A320-200, was released. The improvements mainly concerned increasing the capacity of the fuel tanks. The A320-200 received final certification in November 1988. Since then, the A320-200 has grown into a whole family of medium-haul airliners, the Airbus S.A.S consortium, based on which the following models have been produced: A318, A319 and A321.

Many technical innovations were introduced into the aircraft design. The A320 was the first passenger airliner to be equipped with a Fly-by-Wire control system. The advantage of this system is that a computer with a given program controls many parameters of the aircraft, for example, it does not allow the angle of attack or overload to be exceeded. The airliner is equipped with EFIS digital avionics from Thomson CSF. The A320 also uses a relatively high percentage of composite materials compared to previous models.

The A320-200 is powered by two CFMI CFM56-5B or IAE V2500 turbojet engines with thrust ranging from 113 kN to 120 kN each.

Aircraft models have different engine options. The serial number of the modification depends on the type of engine installed. For example: the A320-211 uses CFM56-5A1 motors, and the A320-231 model is equipped with IAE V2500-A1 engines, etc.

Compared to other aircraft in its class, the A320 has a wider cabin and significant cargo space with large doors for easier loading and unloading. And low operating and maintenance costs are an attractive factor for low-cost airlines. For example, the American low-cost airline JetBlue Airways Corporation, located in New York, purchased 233 such aircraft for its fleet. Other low-cost carriers with significant A320 orders include the UK's EasyJet Company Limited and Malaysia's Air Asia.

Today, Airbus S.A.S is developing an improved A320 model. The new variant of the A320 is called A320neo. The New Engine Option program is the latest step in the modernization of the A320. The “Neo” modernization program includes such improvements as: weight reduction, a new, modern interior with an expanded luggage compartment. The new airframe will be made using new composite materials. And thanks to the installation of new economical CFM International LEAP-X and P&W PW1000G engines, it is planned to reduce fuel consumption by 10-15 percent.

Compared to previous A320 models, the new A320neo will produce less noise and emissions. The aircraft's wing will also undergo modifications, in particular the wingtips, which will now, according to the standard, have the shape of a shark fin, the so-called “sharklets”. This modification of the wing reduces fuel consumption by 2-3 percent. Thanks to the innovations, it will be possible to increase the flight range by 950 km and increase the carrying capacity.
