Interestingly, specialists from different countries are working on preparing the ice arena show. Thus, the performer of the role of the evil Vizier, Maxim Lippe, is a Canadian citizen, and the choreographer Katarina Gravendil is from Solovakia. “What I really like about this project is our international cooperation. There are 10-11 nationalities represented on the site. When I enter the base and hear different languages on the radios and on the ice, it really touches me. It’s nice that our show brings people together,” said Anastasia Bogacheva, the show’s executive director.

On this day, we were the first to see the most striking numbers from this musical on ice. The brave hero Aladdin played by Alexey Rudometov, the cheerful Genie played by Ilya Gurylev, the beautiful oriental princess played by Irina Potanina - they all impressed us with their virtuoso figure skating and artistry. With genuine interest we followed the actions of the guys and the constantly changing animated scenery. Each pirouette of the dancers was accompanied by our applause. And at the end of the rehearsal, the artists from the fire show gave us a surprise and demonstrated an episode with fire.

Atmospheric composition
Absolutely everyone knows the Arabian tale about Aladdin, but “Stage” would not be “Stage” if it had not tried to remove the dust and cobwebs of time from it and turn it into a modern hit. In the new version, Aladdin lives in the present day, is horrified by injustice, feels sorry for the poor and dreams of how he will save the country enslaved by the Grand Vizier five centuries ago. With the help of a randomly found magic lamp, he succeeds - the cheerful Genie takes Aladdin into the past. During a break between exploits, our hero falls in love with the Sultan's daughter, and she reciprocates his feelings. In the finale, justice triumphs, and the happy newlyweds go on a trip around the world - through centuries and countries on a magic carpet.
In an ordinary performance, this whole story would not fit into even 5 hours of action - while the artist walks from one corner of the stage to another, while the scenery is changed, etc. , and so on. Therefore, it was not artists who reincarnated as heroes, but figure skaters (among the show’s participants are masters of sports Alexey Rudometov, Max Lippe, Irina Potanina, Anton Shabalin, Ilya Gurylev). With their help, the fairy tale became like a Hollywood movie - with high speeds, drive, spectacular pictures, and an overwhelming degree of emotions.

The ice performance has a fantastic scenography: here you will find Istanbul Square with street vendors, magicians, snake charmers, acrobats, sword swallowers, fire blowers and camels, and the luxurious palace of the Sultan, and the no less luxurious chambers of the vizier. All this is on a real scale and at arm's length. The show required 9 trailers of equipment, pyrotechnics (for the first time viewers will see a real fire show on ice), giant LED screens, 200 costumes from the workshops of the Mariinsky Theater and the author's atelier in Poland. And yet, producer Dmitry Bogachev decided that the show needed something else - something “atmospheric”, certainly reminiscent of the homeland of the famous fairy tale (Aladdin performs his exploits in Istanbul, during the time of Suleiman the Great (today’s popular TV series is dedicated to his reign "Magnificent century").

This is how the production got a mascot - a lamp, which was found by the artist Anton Makarsky (in whose voice Aladdin speaks and sings) in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul. It took a whole day to find her; the merchant did not want to give up “the biggest and most beautiful one.” And yet he gave up when he heard that in Moscow his lamp would take part in a grandiose show, and a musical one at that.
By the way, about music. It was composed by the talented composer Evgeny Zagot, the lyrics were written by the favorite of connoisseurs of Russian musicals, Alexey Ivashchenko. By the way, when in one of the traditional restaurants in Istanbul Dmitry Bogachev asked to play a recording of the romantic duet of Aladdin and the Princess (singer Jasmine sang with Anton Makarsky), local visitors, convinced that this was theirs, Turkish music, wanted to know the name of the author.

It is planned to show 46 performances in Moscow (three per day). 23 skaters and 14 technical staff take part in them. Not to mention the costumers and make-up artists. The show is international - not only Russians work behind the scenes, but also Poles, Hungarians, Canadians, etc. Surprisingly, there was no place in Moscow for a rehearsal of such a scale. It turned out to be impossible to rent Luzhniki for the entire rehearsal period, and the show “moved” to a huge filming pavilion with an area of 4.5 thousand square meters in Budapest (by the way, this is where the film “Die Hard 5” was filmed). The complex process was led by Alexei Frandetti (the audience knows him well from his acting work at the Pushkin Theater, film roles and musical productions). In "Aladdin" he acted as a director. Considering how passionately Alexey loves musical theater and the show genre in general, there is no doubt that everything worked out for him. When asked if there were any difficulties in working with the skaters, the director replied: “We instantly found a common language with some, but not immediately with others. But this is normal, an individual approach is important. It seems to me that today all the keys have been found and the safes have been opened, we are one team!”

Ice choreography is created by Katarina Gravendil, who has 20 years of experience staging ice shows in leading production companies in the world. All these people literally spent days and nights on the site. They are all sure that Moscow has never seen anything like this before. According to the show’s executive producer Anastasia Bogacheva, next year the show “Aladdin and the Lord of Fire” may go on a European tour, “there is huge interest from foreign promoters, they call us and come from everywhere.” But this year there is a grand arena show in Moscow, and you have a chance to see and appreciate it first.
