Soloist and lyricist of the group "Tokyo Hotel" Bill Kaulitz fell in love with the public not only for his unique stage image, but also for the fact that the singer in his songs is not afraid to raise pressing social issues, which are discussed in modern society It’s not customary to say. Vocalist German group Tokyo Hotel was born on September 1, 1989 in largest city Saxony - Leipzig.

The head of the family, Jörg Kaulitz, was a truck driver, and mother Simone was a seamstress. After his parents' divorce, Bill and his older twin brother Tom, together with their mother and stepfather, moved to the village of Leutsche (a suburb of Magdeburg). Since childhood, Kaulitz had a fine mental organization. His unique vision of the world was reflected not only in the lyrics, but also in his appearance: dyed black hair, crew cut, eyebrow and tongue piercings made him stand out from the crowd of his peers.

For his dissimilarity, the artist received punishment from his classmates more than once. Tom also received Tumakov, who could not stand by and calmly watch his brother being beaten. In 2001, when the guys created the group Devilish, the vast majority of students came to school wearing T-shirts with inscriptions ridiculing the twins' new hobby. Despite the obvious oppression from the public, the guys believed in themselves and every weekend, together with bass guitarist Georg Listing and drummer Gustav Schäfer, they gathered in the Kaulitz garage, where they rehearsed.

Two years after the founding of the team, the ambitious Bill took part in music show Star Search talents. There young talent performed a cult song The group Weather Girls "It"s Raining Men". The vocal abilities of the outrageous boy impressed producer Peter Hoffman, who took up the promotion of Bill's group. On Hoffman's advice, the guys changed the name Devilish to Tokio Hotel. Reference to the country rising sun was no coincidence: Kaulitz’s stage image was created under the influence of the popular in the mid-2000s Japanese subculture Visual Kei.

Music

In August 2005 at debut single collective - “Durch den Monsun” - a video was shot. And a month later the first one was released studio album"Schrey." At the beginning of 2006, a video was also shot for the track “Rette mich”. Due to Bill's cracking voice and some instrumental changes, the composition was strikingly different from the original version of the song.

The second studio album “Schrei - so laut du kannst” was released in March of the same year and was supplemented with three new tracks – “Schwarz”, “Beichte” and “Thema nr. 1". On April 3, 2007, a tour started in support of the new album “Zimmer 483”. In a month and a half, the musicians gave 20 sold-out concerts throughout Europe (Germany, France, Poland, Switzerland).

The story of the creation of the track “Reden” was published in all printed publications of that time. This composition is completely autobiographical. True, the events described in it happened not with Bill, but with Tom Kaulitz: the song told about Tom’s intimacy with a fan. After the material was made public, Kaulitz Sr. tried in vain to justify himself by saying that he was drunk that day.

At the beginning of June, the English-language album “Scream” and a couple of singles for it were released. This work captivated listeners in England, Italy, Spain and America. On October 2, 2009, the fourth studio album “Humanoid” was released. At the beginning of May 2010, the group visited Asian countries - Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan - as part of the “Welcome to the Humanoid-City” tour. In December 2010, they gave concerts in the capital of Japan - Tokyo.

On October 3, 2014, the new album “Kings of Suburbia” was released. The video for the title track “Feel It All,” in which Bill played the role of a drug addict, was visually different from previous works artist. Director Matthias Erik Jonson explained that the video was created under the impression of such cult films, like “Requiem for a Dream,” “The Basketball Diaries,” and “We Are the Children of Zoo Station.”

In support of the new record, the first part of the “Feel It All World Tour 2015” took place from March 6 to March 27, 2015. WITH concert program the guys visited Asian countries, Latin America and Europe, and also performed in the USA and Russia. In 2016, Kaulitz, with the support of the De-Code LTD label, under the pseudonym Billi, released a limited edition mini-album “I’m Not OK”, which included fifteen original compositions.

The lucky ones who managed to place a pre-order on the singer’s official website, in addition to vinyl record received an art book that contained 128 photographs taken by Shiro Gutsi and Davis Factor. A video was shot for the album's lead single, "Love Don't Break Me". In 2017, the world saw the album “Dream Machine”.

Personal life

People who are not indifferent to the work of the German performer throughout musical career Kaulitz had legends about him personal life. Due to the fact that Bill has pretty features, likes to experiment with his appearance and in the lyrics of his songs does not include the concept of love in the notorious gender framework, they say that he is gay.

Fans have always fiercely defended the traditional orientation of their favorite. IN different time the musician was credited with having affairs with the owner of the Sur Lounge restaurant chain, Lisa Vanderpump, and with the daughter of a world-class chef, Nikki, and with the singer LaFee, and with the model Shermin Sharivar, and even with the personal makeup artist of the artist himself, Nathalie Frantz.

Rumors about the relationship between Kaulitz and Franz have been circulating for a long time. Young people spend everything together free time: They attend Fashion Week in France, go to exhibitions and theaters, and also relax together at resorts abroad. Even though the pages social networks Bill and Natalie are full of photographs together; those who have been following the work of the Tokyo Hotel group for a long time know that the creator of the Magicstripes brand is an old friend of the lead singer and that if there is love between them, it is exclusively friendly.

Officially, Kaulitz was in a relationship only with Trina Strassenburg. The artist’s chosen one had nothing to do with show business. The girl was a longtime fan of the group and met Bill at a concert. Their romance lasted a year. According to the artist himself, they broke up due to a misunderstanding, which began to lead to quarrels and scandals.

The singer himself dotted all the i's in 2014: then Kaulitz wrote a column on the topic of relationships for the American portal Sheknows. In it, the singer of the hit “Schrei” said that when he meets the person he loves, his gender, nationality, age and weight will not be important to him.

Bill Kaulitz now

In 2017, the frontman of the group "Tokyo Hotel" is active social life: Bill participates in photo shoots and appears on the covers of world print publications (“L"Officiel Hommes”, “Vogue!”, “Nylon Germany”, “TZ Newspaper”, “Public”), attends fashion shows (Malaikaraiss, Prabal Gurung, William Fan, Vlone) and with enviable regularity becomes a guest on television and radio programs.

In June this year modeling agency Modelwerk signed a contract with the thin, tall singer (Kaulitz’s height is 192 cm and his weight is 72 kg). The artist’s portfolio is posted on the organization’s official website, which anyone can view.

Among other things, videos of the “#TokioHotelTV” project are still published on the group’s YouTube channel, which show the everyday realities of the team members without embellishment. IN latest issue program, fans had a chance to see the process of creating a new tattoo for the performer (Kaulitz tattooed the coordinates of Berlin on his elbow).

Despite his busy work schedule, the extravagant musician does not forget about relaxation: in June 2017, Bill visited Ibiza. He posted photos from his vacation on his "Instagram". There, in addition to pictures of idle pastime, video clips of working moments also periodically appear (recording songs, backstage, meetings with fans after concerts). On this moment the artist gives his all to music. Now Kaulitz is preparing to release a video clip for the third single from the album “Dream Machine” - “Boy Don't Cry”.

Popularity of the German group Tokio Hotel at the end of the 2000s was phenomenal. Seven years ago, teenage girls covered their rooms with posters of the Kaulitz twin brothers and dreamed of seeing their idols live. When the boy band arrived in Russia, the singers were greeted by thousands of teenagers who had completely bought all the tickets to the Olimpiysky Sports Complex. However, after some time, the excitement around young stars has subsided: now their names appear only in the headlines of the German press. SUPER talks about present life once popular group in Russia.

As time passed, the 25-year-old lead singer of the group noticeably matured and radically changed his image. First he dyed his hair from gothic black to platinum blonde. However, the changes in the star's appearance did not end there. Now the skinny artist, who has decorated his body with tattoos, wears a neat short hairstyle, and he has also grown thick stubble. His brother has also changed significantly: the guitarist got rid of his dreadlocks and grew a thick beard. The years also took their toll on the band’s bassist. George Listing: a once plump young man pumped himself up and cut off his long hair. Perhaps the only thing that hasn’t changed much in appearance is the drummer Gustav Schäfer, who, unlike his stage colleagues, managed to get married.

By the way, the transformations in the appearance of lead singer Bill Kaulitz were followed by changes in the singer’s lifestyle. The young man is obsessed with fashion: he buys the latest collections of fashion houses Saint Laurent, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Rick Owens. In his photographs on Instagram, the artist periodically posts photographs of his bags, shoes and looks, always signing the names of the brands. It is noteworthy that the matured Bill Kaulitz now spends money not on cosmetics and jewelry, but on expensive Rolex watches.

Having resumed concerts after a three-year break, the Tokio Hotel musicians are actively touring Europe and the USA. During breaks between performances, the Kaulitz brothers spend time with their favorite dog, the bulldog Pumbaa, and take part in fashion photo shoots. By the way, representatives of Tokio Hotel said that this year the group is touring Russia.

Recently the leader of the German music group Tokio Hotel Bill Kaulitz secretly visited Russia. The singer presented to the public his solo art project BILLY, within the framework of which a closed presentation of the mini-album BILLY-I "m Not Ok (I'm Not Ok) and the photo book Love Don"t Break Me (Love, not break me). Bill Kaulitz shared his impressions of the visit with HELLO.RU.

The release of the presented album took place on May 20 and is available for listening only on the Internet. It includes 5 dance songs that talk about despair, broken heart and hope. For the song Love Don't Break Me, the musician released a candid video clip and a book of the same name, visually complementing the story with photographs from the filming.

Bill Kaulitz presented his book during a visit to Russia, October 2016 Previously, the BILLY project was successfully presented in the USA, Mexico, Germany, France and Italy. Bill chooses special art venues for his events, since he positions his project as a relationship between art, fashion and music. Thus, for the presentation in Moscow, the musician preferred a club format, inviting guests to night club"Insomnia", and in the Northern capital the meeting took place in entertainment center"Ziferburg".

Despite the increased interest from fans, a limited number of people were able to attend the closed events. Bill chose to keep the meeting private by not having the press present. Nevertheless, HELLO.RU managed to ask the musician a few questions and take pictures of him at the presentation.

Bill has prepared a number of surprises for his Russian fans. Immediately before his trip to Moscow, the 27-year-old artist shocked the public with a new image - he made short haircut and repainted it in an extreme color. The singer decided on this experiment for the sake of one of his new videos, which will be released in the near future. Guests of both capitals had the opportunity to see a pre-show of one of them - the song Not Over You.

I would really not like to reveal all the secrets. I can only say that most likely you will see me shaving my hair right in the video,” Bill shared.

During the event, the musician signed each copy of the photo book and vinyl copy of the album, willingly took pictures and answered questions from the public, talking about his plans. Already in the spring of 2017, the Tokio Hotel group will return to Russia with a new concert tour, Dream Machine Tour, which is planned to cover 8 cities. Tickets for upcoming concerts are being snapped up by fans at high speed, despite the fact that the group is in no hurry to release new album.

Bill hastened to reassure the fans and asked them to wait a little:

To be honest, I myself don’t know when this X-day will come. We're still working on the material. Most likely, the new album will be released in early 2017.

The musician explained his busyness by saying that in addition to the group and solo project, he has plans to make his film debut. Bill and his twin brother Tom Kaulitz are also in the process of writing a book.

We have too many projects now. When I wake up in the morning, I don’t even know what to do. While I'm traveling around the world with my solo project, my brother Tom, as the band's producer, is working in a studio on the other side of the world on new tracks, and the other band members Georg and Gustav are also working like bees, although they are usually less involved. So rest assured: we will go on tour with new material! Despite the fact that the theme of the evening was a project into which Bill invested all his personal experiences, fans, not wanting to upset the artist, were in no hurry to ask questions about his recent separation from his other half, but they still received the answer:

Yes, I was very hurt by this relationship, it seemed to me that I had finally found the only thing I had been looking for for so long. However it was good experience. When you give yourself completely to your loved one, this is not forgotten. At the moment I am free. And very happy! Of course, being happy is a choice. Sure, I can be sad and depressed and hang out in bars and have one-night stands, but I don't encourage that. The next morning I feel empty, which is not what I want. That's why I tell people that I'm happy - and I really feel it. I'm completely fine and I'm not afraid to experience this again.

The musician also noted that he loves to visit nightclubs. Immediately after the end of the event, Bill went for a walk around the capital's establishments, visiting the Kamchatka bar and the ARMA17 club. In St. Petersburg, the singer also walked along the streets at night.

It was not by chance that I chose Moscow and St. Petersburg for my presentation. I'm in love with these cities. I really like the mentality of Russian people. I have encountered rudeness, but at the same time, you are very hospitable. I was captivated by the architecture of St. Petersburg. Driving through the city, I feel the history of each building. There is nothing like this in Los Angeles! I would definitely love to live here or just have a frosty Christmas.
