I know from experience that even some five-year-olds can cope, and almost all six-year-olds can cope. So, you’ve drawn the veins – circle them in a bright color, for example, red.

Outlining is a very useful thing - we reinforce the idea of the shape of the wing and its structure, and at the same time we train fine motor skills of the hands. Okay, it's time to learn how to draw a butterfly yourself.

Let's draw a butterfly step by step

Since the topic is complex and difficult to grasp, I show it step by step on the board and on paper for almost every student. We draw a cross - four sectors - four wings.

Yes, all four wings are attached side by side - on the dorsal part of the chest. NOT ON THE ABDOMEN! Now let's draw these wings - the shape itself is not complicated, but it is difficult for children to overcome rote stereotypes and resist twisting their mustache into a ram's horn and reducing the wings to the size of fish fins. Well, you'll have to strain.

Yes! I almost forgot - we are also repeating the topic of “symmetry” - the left half should turn out to be a mirror image of the right:

Next, cut out both butterflies. There's a tricky part here - the mustache. Children are taught to cut along a line, but here there is only one line, you have to somehow get out. And - it’s okay, many children cut out these tiny mustaches, how cute they are.

Now we apply both butterflies to a landscape sheet and trace them with a simple pencil - working with the template and memorizing the shape. Let's glue the butterflies exactly to their contours - we'll develop our eye.

There is still enough space on the album sheet - let's draw the butterflies AGAIN. Moreover, accuracy of reproduction is needed - there is no need for “OWN” vision of the image of a butterfly. Your own vision can only arise through repeated, interested observation of butterflies in nature. If you don’t have this experience, then it’s better not to let things take their course - the notorious “your vision” turns out to be a banal cartoon image.

When drawing butterflies, we build them according to the above step-by-step scheme. Yes, we draw a cross, a body, attach the wings correctly, and don’t throw it around at random.

Therefore, I ask you to gently but firmly direct students to reproduce the real outlines and proportions of a butterfly (such as a swallowtail - we will study other butterflies later).

How to draw a butterfly

1. Using a simple pencil, outline the elongated thin body of the butterfly with barely noticeable lines. On the sides of the upper body, draw rounded features up and continue them to the middle of the body so that you get oblong wings. Below them, draw small lower semicircular wings.

Using a black pencil, mark two small round eyes in place of the head. Outline the body, narrowing it slightly above the middle. Paint the bottom part black.

2. In the upper element of the body, under the head, draw a short horizontal line. Using the same black pencil, outline the upper and lower wings. Draw curved antennae with bold dots at the ends above the eyes.

4. Continue to paint all the wings with turquoise or light blue until approximately their middle. To ensure a smooth color transition, overlap the previous shade slightly and do not press too hard.

5. Using a red pencil, applying only light pressure, paint a little more of the upper wing on the left. In the upper part on the right, take more space when decorating than in the lower part. Details are visible in the photo. Add red to the lower wings as well, but don't paint them completely.

6. Erase the top corner of the top wing on the right and add a line with a burgundy pencil in place of the previous one. Paint the wing with the same color, slightly short of the edge. Add a layer of burgundy to the wing on the left, leaving more space on the edge than on the element on the other side. In the upper parts, make the color more saturated.

Completely fill in the lower wings with a burgundy pencil, pressing harder on the body.

7. Use purple to darken the corner of the upper wing on the left. Pressing the burgundy pencil, outline the left edge of this wing with it, a few circles at the top and fill in the rest of the space.
