Thrillers tend to excite audiences even more than standard horror films. And why all? They not only play on our natural sense of fear, but also mock our minds. Not every viewer who likes to tickle his nerves will choose a movie of this genre for these purposes. Even if you type the phrase “best films, list” into the search bar, thrillers will not occupy even 10% of this list. For an unprepared viewer, films such as “Suicide Hall” or “Chat” will not only remain incomprehensible, but in general can cause disgust towards the country that produced such films. They usually leave a rather unpleasant aftertaste, which can only be overcome by a good one. Although most moviegoers are not deterred by such consequences, so the “thriller” genre can still be safely called one of the most preferred. Every fan of this genre there is a personal list. It is useless to challenge it, because how many people there are, so many preferences. We will try to describe some of the most famous and will definitely mention the paintings that are loved by a narrow circle of viewers.

Subjectivism and film mania

One of the absolute favorites is the film “No Feelings” (2007) with Jason Behr in leading role. This is a film adaptation of a not very popular novel of the same name, which can evoke such a palette of emotions that it will take several days to rehabilitate. The impression lingers for a long time thanks to not only the good work of the screenwriters, but also the amazing acting. This picture definitely deserves the right to open the list of the best thrillers.

Also very powerful is the film with the disgusting title “Dead Man,” which clearly shows the level of morality of modern youth. In this genre it is difficult to find a film with an even more striking anti-social theme, however, it is played out there in a very unique way.

The recent “Ashes” with a cutie in the title role, a thriller with a large admixture of drama, “keeps” under the impression for several days after viewing, because its ending plunges the viewer into deep shock.

The above-mentioned film “Chat” is quite strange and unpredictable, but this makes it even more interesting. It ended up on this list of the best thrillers by pure chance, but apparently stayed there for a long time.

The film “The Pit” boasts the most unusual plot from the entire list. Good cast, interesting scenario and a strong atmosphere bring it to the top of our rating.

Such a mysterious foggy Albion

Quite interesting is the fact that the country of origin of most of the films listed is Great Britain. It becomes a little scary for the people: what are they constantly thinking about on their islands if they are making such a movie?! Maybe they are imagining something in the fog, or maybe the rain won’t wash away the melancholy?

In short, Great Britain is a true master of thrillers, but, of course, everyone has mistakes. The list of the best thrillers should definitely include “Trance” (2013), which will seem too sophisticated to an inexperienced viewer. In an effort to express an interesting idea, the director went overboard with the plot and slightly “smeared” the characters. And in general, remembering the best thrillers of 2013, the list will open and immediately close with the film “Prisoners” - the trend, as always, is depressing.

A good psychological thriller can turn a movie show into one big, never-ending thrill. We present to your attention the best psychological thrillers that do not sell out and are not present in every home collection, but we are sure that watching them will give you a lot of pleasure.

Abandoned mental hospital buildings

Here the dolls are nailed to trees, hanging from branches, lying in the bushes.”

North Korea

“Seriously, I can’t remember any other place where I was more scared than in North Korea. It amazes me that Westerners volunteer to travel to this terrible place. I know it’s safe because tourism is a source of income, but I would be afraid of saying the wrong thing or talking to the wrong person and ending up in a camp.”

BSL-4 laboratory where infectious disease research is conducted

“My father is a virologist and he worked in this laboratory with different strains of viruses such as smallpox and Ebola. Most people don't realize how scary it is. The scenes on television of people going into these laboratories and working there don't tell the whole story."

Red forest near Chernobyl

"The most scary place, which I have ever been to, is located next to the Red Forest near Chernobyl. It's really a nice place, the foliage turns bloody red in the fall, and the ground is covered with a veil of snow. The worst thing is that very close to the forest there is something that can destroy you and all living things.”

Killing Fields in Cambodia

“Killing Fields and S-21 Prison in Cambodia. They're so scary. Human bones You can still see on the roads, huge pillars of human skulls with holes in them where they were beaten to death. And the prison is former school, which was turned into a torture chamber."

Xochimilco Island

“My father’s friend works for Xochimilco and he organized a tour for us. If you don't know, Xochimilco is a maze of canals and small islands. During the day it's great to swim in small boats. People in the same boats sell food and beer. But if you decide to swim in the dark at night, it will be a very frightening experience.”

Bolton Strid

It seems that you can just jump from stone to stone, but no - you will die. It scares. Something so harmless could be a real death trap."

Haunted castle ruins in Scotland

Wall near the coast of Saint Croix

Reality? In reality, it’s a frightening four-kilometer drop straight to the bottom of the ocean.”

Spooky farm with former nursing home

“My friend's family owns a farm in the countryside. There is an empty house on the farm that was previously a nursing home. The door to it is blocked by boxes and other things. The only way to get inside is through the morgue in the basement. And when you get into the house, the first thing you see is this scary rocking chair.”

Pine Barrens, New Jersey

Hashima Island, Japan

“Hashima Island in Japan is a completely abandoned mining island whose population was evacuated in one day. The rotting remains of everyday objects are scattered everywhere. You can only get here and get out during certain periods of the year. In addition, it is located near Nagasaki, which only adds to the horror of this place.”

Higgins Lake in Northern Michigan

Death zone at the top of Mount Everest

The "death zone" at the top of Mount Everest, where experienced climbers such as Rob Hall die when they fail to turn around in time or are caught off guard by a storm. I know he's played Russian roulette with his life too many times, but calling his pregnant wife while he was waiting to freeze to death is heartbreaking."

Centralia, Pennsylvania

"Centralia, Pennsylvania. My friends and I sneaked there one night when we learned that the creators of Silent Hill were inspired by this place. When you're surrounded by destroyed buildings and the smoke of invisible fires that never go out, you can't help but feel the presence of terror and panic in the air."

Some scary places in Virginia

Odessa catacombs in Ukraine
