"Enchanted Letter"

Once upon a time on New Year's Eve children played in the yard. And then a truck with a Christmas tree pulled up. When the movers carried out the Christmas tree, the children were filled with delight. They looked at the spruce and enthusiastically shared their impressions with each other. There were three of them: Deniska, friend Alyonka and Mishka. And then the girl squealed joyfully and exclaimed: “Look, detectives!” The guys started laughing at her, but it turned out that no one could pronounce this simple word correctly.

Alyonka was unable to do this because of a lost tooth, and Mishka was dying of laughter, grimacing and mocking the poor girl. But, as it turned out later, he himself could not pronounce the enchanted letter. All he could manage was: “Giggles.” Deniska laughed loudest of all, but on the way home he said “Fuck.” Oh, this enchanted letter!

"Paul's Englishman"

The story begins with a description the last summer day in the Korablev family. On the eve of September 1, dad brought home a large watermelon, so all family members sat at the table and devoured this tasty delicacy. Then his friend Pavel, whom he had not seen all summer, came to visit Deniska.

In the process of communication, it turned out that Pavel did not waste time in vain in the summer, but learned English. Deniska became very envious, because he wasted his time playing games and entertainment. Denis’s mom and dad began to take an active interest in what Pavel could say in a foreign language and why he didn’t use his knowledge. However, as it turned out later, Pavel mastered only one word, and even then it was the name Petya in English - Pete. This is where his knowledge ended.

"Twenty Years Under the Bed"

One cold winter evening Deniska’s parents went to the cinema, and Mishka came to him and invited him to visit. The boy happily agreed and, quickly getting ready, set off with his friend. There were a lot of people visiting Mishka: Andrei, Alyonka, Kostya and he and Deniska. The guys decided to play hide and seek, leaving the kids as losers. It was not interesting to play in the room, so the children went out into the corridor, hiding under fur coats and curtains.

However, Deniska, once again trying to hide, discovered that his secluded place was occupied, and not finding anything suitable, he slipped into Efrosinya Petrovna’s next bedroom and hid under the bed. The boy was thinking in his head how wonderful it would be when Kostya discovered him here and was surprised at his resourcefulness. But events began to happen not according to plan.

Instead of Kostik an old lady came into the room and went to bed turning off the lights in the room. Deniska panicked, a lot of thoughts were spinning in his head, but he couldn’t come up with anything suitable. After sitting under the bed for quite a long time and completely despairing, Denis accidentally knocked on the trough that stood under the bed. The old woman woke up and started screaming. With difficulty, the boy got out from under the bed, sneezing from the accumulated dust, and, confusing the closet with the door of the room, climbed into it. Well, then Denis’s dad came and rescued his son from “20 years of captivity,” since it seemed to the boy that he had been sitting under the bed for an eternity.

"The secret becomes clear"

This funny story happened to Deniska, when he didn't want to eat semolina porridge. Mom insisted, but the boy could not cram the hated semolina into himself. Then the mother promised that she would take her son to the Kremlin if he emptied his plate. Deniska really wanted to get there, so he tried to swallow the porridge. He tried in every possible way to improve its taste, but the semolina only became more disgusting.

When his mother left the room, the boy decided to act immediately: he took the plate and poured it out the window. Returning to his place, he imagined what a wonderful day it would be, and that he would finally get to the Kremlin! However, Denis's dreams were interrupted by a knock on the door. An angry man in a suit stood on the threshold, and semolina porridge flowed down his clothes in thin streams. At this point our hero realized that he couldn’t see the Kremlin like he could see his own ears, and that everything secret would sooner or later become clear.

"The Main Rivers of America"

This funny incident happened to Deniska at school. The boy did not learn his lessons because he was busy playing games all evening. In the morning, late for school, he realized that he needed to learn poetry and prepare for geography by learning the rivers of America. Korablev was called to the blackboard, and his teacher Raisa Ivanovna wanted to hear Nekrasov’s poem. But Denis began to read Pushkin, pretending to be a fool. His friend Mishka suggested that he needed to learn a poem by Nekrasov, but Denis could not hear the name of the poem and said: “A little man with a marigold.”

Raisa Ivanovna did not want to give Denis a bad grade, so she wanted him to answer at least something. She asked to name the largest river in America. The boy didn’t know what to answer, but classmate Petya decided to help by writing the name of the river on a piece of paper. Denis said with relief: “Misi-pisi.” Of course, this was wrong, and the whole class, including the teacher, began to laugh until they cried.

Having received a bad mark in his diary, Deniska made a promise to himself that he would always study his lessons.

"Dog Thief"

When Deniska was at the dacha, a most amusing story happened to him. One day his neighbor asked him to look after his dog Chapka, while he went to the river to swim. The boy played with the dog, but soon he got tired of this activity. And then a friend Vanya walked past the fence with a fishing rod and called Denis to the river to fish. The boy said that he could not leave the dog, but Vanka advised him to hide Chapka in the house.

Having placed the dog under house arrest, Deniska decided to catch up with his friend, went around the corner, but saw Chapka. Deciding that the dog had run away, he dragged the dog home. Having managed, Denis again went to the river, but soon saw Chapka again. She was angry with the boy and did not want to go home. So Denis covered her with nonsense and dragged her home. Throwing the dog into the room, the boy began to run to Vanka, but no such luck! He again met...Chapka, returned home again with the dog and, having checked all the locks and doors, ran tired to the river.

When Deniska ran to the river, he saw that his friend had already caught fish and was going home. Then they decided to return to the river after lunch and went to the house of neighbor Boris Klimentievich. When the guys approached the house, they saw a whole crowd near the gate. It turned out that Deniska stole other people's dogs, mistaking them for Chapka. The story ended happily, the owners found their Scottish terriers, and a neighbor nicknamed Denis “The Dog Thief.”

“Deniska's Stories” is a collection of funny, funny and often very instructive stories about the life of a little boy, written by Viktor Dragunsky. They cover several years of the hero's life, from about 5 years old to high school.

In simple and understandable language for children, the author tells children about everyday events, quarrels and ventures with friends, events in school life and everyday family values. A modern child will be able to recognize himself in stories about the simple childhood of a Soviet boy who grew up in the courtyard of an apartment building and was often left to his own devices in search of adventure.

The stories quickly became children's classics, were filmed several times and were loved by children for their lightness, cheerfulness and lively main character. Subsequently, the book was reprinted several times and still remains one of the most read among primary schoolchildren.

Since the book is a classic of children's literature, it is often assigned as summer reading, with a summary for the reader's diary. In this case, it is enough to choose a few stories you like and write a short retelling of them, adding an answer to the question of who wrote them.

Structure of an entry in a reader's diary:

  • Author, book title, genre and publication date.
  • List of main characters, possible brief notes on who is related to whom.
  • What the book is about (a summary including the main idea, important events, plot and conclusion).
  • Notes – this line is filled in by the teacher after checking each note.

Important! It’s better to choose stories not in a row, but those that you really liked and remembered well. It is enough to list the main characters and describe the content as briefly as possible. But if you can’t formulate the content in a few lines, then Wikipedia will come to the rescue, where you will definitely find similar information.

Summary of stories

It is quite difficult to find a summary of the entire book “Deniska’s Stories”, because it includes 61 short stories, each of which is independent, although they all have a common hero, the boy Deniska, his friends and parents.

He is alive and glowing...

Getting to know this little boy begins with the story “He is alive and glowing...”. The hero plays in the sandbox with his best friend Mishka and waits for his mother to get home from work. It is gradually getting dark outside, the stars are shining in the sky, and most of all Deniska wants to drink tea with bagels with her mother.

Mishka persuades him to exchange the new dump truck given to Deniska by his dad for something else. But neither the stamps nor the swimming circle are worth this wonderful machine. Then Mishka gives him a matchbox with a firefly. The bear runs home with a toy. The boy remains with this bug to wait for his mother. Its magical green light, barely visible through the crack in the box, makes the boy forget about everything in the world and even his melancholy.

When mom comes, she is at first angry that her son exchanged such a good car for some kind of beetle. But then he explains to her that a living and glowing beetle is much better than the most expensive toy.

childhood friend

A very poignant story – “Childhood Friend”. Deniska thinks for a long time about what he wants to become, and in the end he decides to be a boxer. The main problem is that he has nothing to box with. Parents currently do not have the money to buy a punching bag, and the search begins for something to hit.

Then his mother brings him an old bear, already put away in the pantry. Having recognized his favorite childhood toy, which he hugged before going to bed, with which he loved to play so much, the boy realizes that he cannot beat his childhood best friend. He will probably never become a boxer, but he will always be a good friend.

The secret becomes clear

One of the most popular stories is “The Secret Becomes Revealed.” Mom promised Denis to go to the Kremlin if the boy ate all the porridge. But he doesn’t like semolina porridge so much, because its taste cannot be corrected with sugar, salt, or mustard.

The only way out seems to be to pour it out the window. Mom, seeing the empty plate, praised the boy. But then a policeman and an unfamiliar man entered the room, who had that ill-fated semolina porridge in his hat and on his shoulders. So Deniska realized that everything secret would definitely become clear and punishment would find the deceiver.

One of the funniest stories, the annotation of which was contained in each collection and on which a film and cartoon were made, is “Where has this been seen...”. Mishka and Denis are invited to participate in the concert and sing short ditties that should shame the poor students. The boys really like the text of the ditties, and they cheerfully shout out the words at rehearsal. But during the performance itself, Mishka is so afraid that he forgets his words.

The audience laughs, hearing the same quatrain several times, and the laughter frightens the boy even more. Deniska wants to help and takes on the text of her friend’s ditty, but out of excitement she sings the same thing again. So the friends decided to become artists.

Puss in Boots

The story “Puss in Boots” tells how Soviet schoolchildren could organize their own holidays. The school decided to hold a costume contest. Just at this time, my mother went to the sanatorium, and my father disappeared at work.

Then Mishka and Denis decided to come up with their own costumes. Mishka dressed up as a gnome, and his friend, after a long run around the apartment and with the help of neighbors, dressed up as a puss in boots.

He used his dad's fishing shoe covers, his mom's old hat, and a neighbor lent him a tail. The cat costume won, and Deniska received two books as a gift.

Important! In his stories, Victor Dragunsky often emphasizes the value of books for children. Books are given to them on their birthdays, at school for competitions and successful studies. Children read a lot in addition, as the hero says, beyond the program.

The importance of the opinions of friends and classmates for boys is also emphasized. In school, the class is responsible for its student, and the student represents the class. Therefore, when someone gets a bad grade or behaves badly, they feel ashamed not only in front of their parents or teachers, but in front of the whole class.

Exactly 25 kilos

In the story “Exactly 25 kilos,” Deniska and Mishka learn that an annual subscription to Murzilka magazine is being given away, but only those who weigh exactly 25 kilograms will receive it. Friends really want to win this prize. Before the competition, the bear drinks half a liter of soda and weighs 25.5 kg with water.

But Denis is 24.5, and when he hardly poured half a liter of sweet water into himself, he began to weigh exactly as much as necessary. As a result, the friends decided to divide the winning subscription, because Denis was ashamed that he deceived the presenter and gained half a kilo in a few minutes by cunning. But the subscription was worth it.

Healthy thought

The story “A Healthy Thought” speaks of the most important childhood truth that the mother of every child is the most beautiful and most beloved for him.
Denis and his friend launched ships into the puddle, but they were carried so far away by the houses that they got lost, and all the multi-story buildings seemed the same.

The boys decided to stand in the yard and wait until their mother looked out, and then they would definitely find their apartment. But Mishka was lucky; the old neighbor took the boy with her. And Denis randomly knocked on the apartment, where he found out that he was already the sixth lost child, and received an apple.

The girls from this apartment remembered that they saw a boy and his mother coming out of the entrance opposite, because his mother was very beautiful. At home, the boy suggested to his dad that he hang his mother’s portrait on their house so that everyone would know that she is the most beautiful, and the boy would no longer confuse the house.

Chicken bouillon

How Denis and dad ran their household is written in the story “Chicken Soup.” Mom left them fresh chicken and told dad to cook dinner if he came home early from work. Dad trusted Denis to trim off the extra feathers with scissors, and then decided to singe them over the burner.

Then they washed the chicken for a long time with soap, because it turned black from the burner. Then they took it out from under the cabinet because it had become slippery from the soap. And when the chicken finally got into the pan, my mother came and said that it turned out that it still needed to be gutted.

Girl on the Ball

The story “The Girl on the Ball” describes Denis’s first childhood love. While at the circus with his class, the boy saw a lot of interesting things, but what surprised him most was the girl in the ball. The blue-eyed girl was very beautiful, thin and dexterous. She saw Denis and smiled at him, and he smiled at her. At home he only talked about this girl and wanted his dad to take him to the circus.

Dad promised, but was able to do it only after two weeks. When they finally came to the performance, it turned out that this girl’s name was Tanya, and she had already left for Vladivostok. And it takes a very long time to get there from Moscow, just to fly. Sad Denis walked home, and he didn’t even want ice cream. And his dad understood the boy in this first melancholy.

Uncle Pavel the stoker

The story “Uncle Pavel the Stoker” is very interesting from the point of view of social ideology. Neighbor Maria Petrovna came to visit Denis’s mother. She was indignant that the house was undergoing renovations, because of this her dog was forced to walk on the balcony.

Denis’s mother believes that the most important thing is that people live well, and for this they can endure repairs and temporary inconveniences. And Denis is simply outraged that his neighbor compares people and animals; he prefers Uncle Pavel, who greets everyone with the words: “Hello, man!”

Indeed, in Soviet times there was a very respectful attitude towards children as future adults who, following their parents, would have to work for the good of the country and live in a bright future.

Spyglass

An interesting moment in raising children is described in the story “The Spyglass.” Denis does not obey and constantly climbs everywhere, while tearing his pants and ruining other things. Then mom came up with the idea, on dad’s advice, to build a magic spyglass that she could take to work and use it to watch Denis in the yard.

After the invention, a dark period began in the boy’s life, when he could no longer play around, catch tadpoles and generally do all sorts of boyish nonsense, because he felt that his mother was watching him. But then he found this pipe in a box, crumpled and clearly unnecessary. Out of resentment towards his mother, he quickly started a fight with the boys and in one day did all these stupid things that he was afraid to do for so long.

Main rivers

The story “Main Rivers” is dedicated to the topic of preparing for lessons. Denis was playing with a kite in the yard and did not have time to do his homework.

Of course, he was the one called to answer in class. He received a bad grade for an unlearned poem by Nekrasov, but the teacher gave him a chance to correct his grade if he answered an extracurricular assignment and told about the main rivers of America.

It turns out that the children decided to read books beyond the curriculum in order to expand their knowledge. Denis's children and friends helped him a lot, but he mixed up the name of the river and pronounced misi-pisi instead of Mississippi. Looking at his classmates sobbing with laughter and the teacher sliding under the table, Denis realized that there are things worse than a bad grade, and was determined to learn his lessons on time.

Plot

Funny and amazing stories happen to Denis, partly based on the boundlessness of children's imagination and fun. So he doesn’t want to eat the porridge and throws it out of the apartment window, and then a policeman and a citizen come to them, covered in porridge, and the secret becomes a reality. Another time, Deniska goes to the circus and changes places with another boy, and the clown Karandash chooses him to participate in his act. While waiting for his mother, Denis manages to get hungry and sad, he becomes sad, but a friend comes up and shows him a firefly in a matchbox, and Denis exchanges it for his locomotive. One day Denis decides to paint the door with paint and a hose when the painters are leaving for lunch, and paints not only the door and walls, but also his girlfriend and the house manager. Playing hide and seek, the boy hides under his neighbor's bed, and she closes the door and goes to bed. One day Denis and his friends start building a rocket in the sandbox and get carried away by stories about various diseases and their advantages.

Conclusion (my opinion)

Childhood is a bright time when there are no serious worries. Children's spontaneity, sincerity and joy must always be remembered and these important qualities must be kept in the heart, so that, as an adult, you do not become hardened and bitter.

Amazing day (short summary)

A story about how guys assemble a rocket to fly into space. Thinking through all the details of its structure, they came up with a very impressive design. And although the friends understood that this was a game, they almost quarreled when deciding who would be the astronaut. It's good that their game ended well! Here parents have the opportunity to discuss safety measures. The fact is that the boys put New Year's firecrackers into the samovar pipe to simulate the takeoff of a rocket. And inside the rocket barrel was cosmonaut Denis. Luckily for him, the fuse cord did not work and the explosion occurred after the boy left the “rocket”.

Amazing day (full story)

A few days ago we started building a site for launching a spacecraft and we still haven’t finished, and at first I thought that one-two-three - and we’ll have everything ready right away. But somehow things didn’t go well, and all because we didn’t know what this site should be like.

We didn't have a plan.

Then I went home. He took a piece of paper and drew on it what goes where: where is the entrance, where is the exit, where to get dressed, where the astronaut is seen off and where to press the button. It all worked out very well for me, especially the button. And when I drew the platform, I also drew a rocket to it. And the first step, and the second, and the astronaut’s cabin, where he will conduct scientific observations, and a separate nook where he will have lunch, and I even figured out where he should wash, and invented self-extending buckets for this, so that he would collect rainwater in them .

And when I showed this plan to Alenka, Mishka and Kostya, they all really liked it. Only Mishka crossed out the buckets.

He said:

They will slow down.

And Kostya said:

Of course of course! Put those buckets away.

And Alenka said:

Well, there are absolutely none!

And then I didn’t argue with them, and we stopped all unnecessary conversations and got to work.
We took out a heavy rammer. Me and Mishka pounded the ground with it. And Alenka walked behind us and trimmed us right with her sandals. She had them brand new, beautiful, but five minutes later they turned gray. Repainted due to dust.

We compacted the site wonderfully and worked together. And another guy joined us, Andryushka, he is six years old. Although he is a little reddish, he is quite smart. And in the midst of work, a window on the fourth floor opened, and Alenka’s mother shouted:

Alenka! Home now! Breakfast!

And when Alenka ran away, Kostya said:

It's even better that she left!

And Mishka said:

It's a pity. Still, the workforce...

I said:

Let's dress up!

And we leaned in, and very soon the site was completely ready. Mishka looked at her, laughed with pleasure and said:

Now the main thing needs to be decided: who will be the astronaut.

Andryushka immediately responded:

I will be an astronaut because I am the smallest and weigh the least!

And Kostya:

That is still unknown. I was sick, do you know how I lost weight? Three kilos! I'm an astronaut.

Mishka and I just looked at each other. These little devils have already decided that they will be astronauts, but it’s as if they forgot about us.

But I came up with the whole game. And, of course, I will be an astronaut!

And just as I had time to think this way, Mishka suddenly announced:

And who was in charge of all the work here now? A? I was in command! So I will be an astronaut!

I didn't like all this at all. I said:

Let's build the rocket first. And then we’ll do tests for an astronaut. And then we’ll schedule the launch.

They were immediately glad that there was still a lot of game left, and Andryushka said:

Let's build a rocket!

Kostik said:

Right!

And Mishka said:

Well, I agree.

We began building a rocket right on our launch pad. There was a huge pot-bellied barrel lying there. There used to be chalk in it, but now it was lying empty. It was wooden and almost completely intact, and I immediately realized everything and said:

This will be the cabin. Any astronaut can fit here, even a real one, not like me or Mishka.

And we put this barrel in the middle, and Kostya immediately dragged some old nobody’s samovar out the back door. He attached it to a barrel to fill it with fuel. It turned out very difficult. Mishka and I made the internal structure and two windows on the sides: these were portholes for observation. Andryushka brought a rather large box with a lid and half-stuck it into the barrel. At first I didn’t understand what it was, and asked Andryushka:

What is this for?

And he said:

What do you mean why? This is the second stage!

Mishka said:

Well done!

And our work is in full swing. We took out different paints, and several pieces of tin, and nails, and strings, and stretched these strings along the rocket, and nailed the tins to the tail unit, and tinted long stripes along the entire side of the barrel, and did a lot more, it’s impossible to tell you everything. And when we saw that everything was ready, Mishka suddenly turned off the tap on the samovar, which was our fuel tank. Mishka turned on the faucet, but nothing came out. Mishka got terribly excited, he touched the dry tap with his finger from below, turned to Andryushka, who was considered our chief engineer, and shouted:

What are you doing? What have you done?

Andryushka said:

Then Mishka became completely angry and shouted even worse:

Be silent! Are you the chief engineer or what?

Andryushka said:

I'm the chief engineer. Why are you yelling?

Where is the fuel in the car? After all, in the samovar... that is, in the tank, there is not a drop of fuel.

And Andryushka:

So what?

Then Mishka told him:

But when I give it to you, then you’ll find out “so what”!

Then I intervened and shouted:

Fill the tank! Mechanic, quickly!

And I looked at Kostya menacingly. He immediately realized that he was the mechanic, grabbed a bucket and ran to the boiler room for water. There he collected half a bucket of hot water, ran back, climbed onto the brick and began to pour it.

He poured water into the samovar and shouted:

There is fuel! Everything is fine!

And Mishka stood under the samovar and scolded Andryushka at all costs.

And then water poured on Mishka. She wasn’t hot, but wow, she was quite sensitive, and when she splashed down Mishka’s collar and onto his head, he got really scared and jumped back as if scalded. The samovar was apparently full of holes. He doused Mishka almost all over, and the chief engineer laughed maliciously:

Serves you right!

Mishka's eyes sparkled.

And I saw that Mishka was about to hit this impudent engineer in the neck, so I quickly stood between them and said:

Listen, guys, what are we going to call our ship?

“Torpedo...” said Kostya.

Or “Spartak,” interrupted Andryushka, “or “Dynamo.”

Mishka was offended again and said:

No, then CSKA!

I told them:

After all, this is not football! You can also call our rocket “Pakhtakor”! We should call it “Vostok-2”! Because Gagarin simply called the ship “Vostok”, but we will have “Vostok-2”!.. Here, Mishka, paint, paint!

He immediately took a brush and began to paint, sniffling through his nose. He even stuck out his tongue. We began to look at him, but he said:

Don't interfere! Don't look at your hand!

And we left him.

And at that time I took the thermometer, which I had stolen from the bathroom, and measured Andryushka’s temperature. He had forty-eight and six. I just grabbed my head: I had never seen an ordinary boy have such a high temperature. I said:

This is some kind of horror! You probably have rheumatism or typhus. Temperature forty-eight point six! Step aside.

He walked away, but then Kostya intervened:

Now examine me! I also want to be an astronaut!

This is the misfortune that results: everyone wants it! There’s just no end to them. All small fry, and there they go!

I told Kostya:

First of all, you're after measles. And no mother will allow you to be an astronaut. And secondly, show your tongue!

He immediately stuck out the tip of his tongue. The tongue was pink and wet, but it was barely visible.

I said:

Why are you showing me some tip! Come on, get it all out!

He immediately lolled out his entire tongue, so that it almost reached his collar. It was unpleasant to look at this, and I told him:

That's it, that's enough! Enough! You can put your tongue away. It's too long, that's what. Just terribly long. I'm even surprised how it fits in your mouth.

Kostya was completely confused, but then he finally came to his senses, slammed his eyes and said threateningly:

Don't talk! Tell me straight: Am I fit to be an astronaut?

Then I said:

With such and such a language? Of course not! Don't you understand that if an astronaut has a long tongue, it's no good? After all, he will spill all the secrets to everyone in the world: where which star is spinning, and all that... No, you, Kostya, better calm down! It’s better to sit on Earth with your paganism.

Then Kostya suddenly turned red like a tomato. He took a step away from me, clenched his fists, and I realized that now we were going to have a real fight. Therefore, I also quickly spat into my fists and put my leg forward so that I had a real boxing pose, like in the photo of the lightweight champion.

Kostik said:

Now I'll give it a splash!

And I said:

You can grab two yourself!

He said:

You'll be lying on the ground!

Consider yourself dead already!

Then he thought and said:

I don’t want to get involved with anything...

Well, shut up!

And then Mishka shouted to us from the rocket:

Hey, Kostya, Deniska, Andryushka! Go look at the inscription.

We ran to Mishka and began to look. Wow, the inscription was just crooked and curled downwards at the end. Andryushka said:

That's great!

And Kostya said:

But I didn't say anything. Because it was written there: “VASTOK-2”.

I didn’t bother Mishka with this, but went over and corrected both mistakes. I wrote: “VOSTOG-2”.

That's all. The bear blushed and remained silent. Then he came up to me and took me under his visor.

When are you scheduling the launch? - asked Mishka.

I said:

In one hour!

Mishka said:

Zero zero?

And I answered:

Zero zero!

* * *
First of all, we needed to get explosives. It was not an easy task, but I still gained something. Firstly, Andryushka brought ten Christmas tree sparklers. Then Mishka also brought some kind of bag - I forgot what it was called, like boric acid. Mishka said that this acid burns very beautifully. And I brought two firecrackers, they had been lying in my box since last year. And we took a pipe from our samovar-tank, plugged it at one end with a rag and pushed all our explosives into it and shook it out properly. And then Kostya brought some kind of belt from his mother’s robe, and we made a cord from it. We laid our entire pipe in the second stage of the rocket and tied it with ropes, and pulled the cord out, and it lay behind our rocket on the ground, like the tail of a snake.

And now we were all ready.

Now,” said Mishka, “the time has come to decide who will fly.” You or me, because Andryushka and Kostya are not suitable yet.

Yes, I said, they are not suitable for health reasons.

As soon as I said this, tears immediately started dripping from Andryushka, and Kostya turned away and began to poke at the wall, because it was probably dripping from him too, but he was embarrassed that he was almost seven, and he was crying. Then I said:

Kostya is appointed Chief Ignitor!

And Andryushka is appointed Chief Launcher!

Then they both turned to us, and their faces became much more cheerful, and no tears were visible, just amazing!

Then I said:

Mishka said:

Only, mind you, I think!

White-hare-where-ran-in-the-oak-forest-what-did-his-basts-pulled-where-
put-the-deck-who-stole-Spyridon-Mor-del-on-tintil-vintil-get-out!

The bear had to go out. He is, of course, older than Kostya and Andryushka, but his eyes have become so sad that he can’t fly, it’s just terrible!

I said:

Bear, you will fly on your next flight without any counting rhymes, okay?

And he said:

Come on, sit down!

Well, nothing can be done, I got it honestly. We reckoned with him, and he himself counted, but it fell to me, there’s nothing to be done about it. And I immediately climbed into the barrel. It was dark and cramped there, especially the second step was in my way. It was impossible to lie quietly because of it; it dug into my side. I wanted to turn around and lie on my stomach, but then I hit my head on the tank; it was sticking out in front. I thought that, of course, it is difficult for an astronaut to sit in the cockpit, because there is a lot of equipment, even too much! But still, I adapted, and curled up, and lay down, and began to wait for the launch.

And then I hear Mishka shouting:

Get ready! Smirrnaa! Launcher, don't pick your nose! Go to the engines.

For the engines!

And I realized that the launch was soon, and I began to lie down further.

And then I hear - Mishka commands again:

Chief Ignitor! Get ready! Light up...

And immediately I heard Kostik fiddling with his matchbox and, it seemed, couldn’t get a match out of excitement, and Mishka, of course, was stretching the team so that everything would fit together - both Kostik’s match and his team. Here he is pulling:

And I thought: well, now! And even my heart began to beat! And Kostya is still rattling matches. I clearly imagined how his hands were shaking and he could not grab the match.

And Mishka has his own:

Light it up... Come on, you unfortunate bastard! Light up...

And suddenly I clearly heard: teal!

- ... burn-gay! Rock it!

I closed my eyes, cowered and prepared to fly. It would be great if this were true, everyone would go crazy, and I closed my eyes even tighter. But there was nothing: no explosion, no shock, no fire, no smoke - nothing. And I finally got tired of it, and I shouted from the barrel:

Soon there, or what? My whole side is lying down - it's aching!

And then Mishka climbed into my rocket. He said:

Stuck. The Bickford cord failed.

I almost kicked him out of anger:

Eh, you are called engineers! You can't launch a simple rocket! Come on, let me do it!

And I got out of the rocket. Andryushka and Kostya fiddled with the cord, but nothing came of it. I said:

Comrade Mishka! Get these fools out of your job! Me myself!

And he went up to the samovar pipe and the first thing he did was to completely tear off their mother’s belt. I shouted to them:

Well, go away! Alive!

And they all ran away in all directions. And I put my hand into the pipe, and mixed everything there again, and put sparklers on top. Then I lit a match and stuck it into the pipe. I shouted:

Hold on!

And he ran to the side. I didn’t think that there would be anything special, because there was nothing like that there in the pipe. I wanted to shout now at the top of my voice: “Boom, tarrarah!” - like it's a blast to play on. And I had already taken a deep breath and wanted to shout louder, but at that moment something in the pipe whistled and whistled! And the pipe flew off from the second stage, and began to fly up, and fall, and smoke!.. And then it boomed! Wow! It was probably the firecrackers that went off there, I don’t know, or Mishkin’s powder! Bang! Bang! Bang! I probably got a little scared from this banging, because I saw a door in front of me, and decided to run away through it, and opened it, and entered this door, but it turned out to be not a door, but a window, and I just ran into it, so he stumbled and fell straight into our house management. There, Zinaida Ivanovna was sitting at the table, and she was counting on a typewriter who should pay how much for the apartment. And when she saw me, she probably didn’t recognize me right away, because I was dirty, straight from a dirty barrel, shaggy and even torn in some places. She was simply stunned when I fell towards her from the window, and she began to wave me off with both hands. She shouted:

What is this? Who is this?

And I probably looked like a devil or some kind of underground monster, because she completely lost her mind and began shouting at me as if I were a neuter noun.

Get out! Get out of here! Here we go!

And I stood up, pressed my hands at my sides and politely said to her:

Hello, Zinaida Ivanna! Don't worry, it's me!

And he began to slowly make his way to the exit. And Zinaida Ivanovna shouted after me:

Oh, this is Denis! Good!.. Wait!.. You’ll find out from me!.. I’ll tell Alexey Akimych everything!

And these screams really ruined my mood. Because Alexey Akimych is our house manager. And he will take me to mom and complain to dad, and I will feel bad. And I thought how good it was that he was not in the house management and that I, perhaps, still need to stay out of his sight for two or three days until everything is settled. And then I was in a good mood again, and I cheerfully and cheerfully left the building administration. And as soon as I found myself in the yard, I immediately saw a whole crowd of our guys. They ran and made noise, and Alexey Akimych ran quite briskly ahead of them. I was terribly scared. I thought that he saw our rocket, how it lay blown up, and maybe the damn pipe broke the windows or something else, and now he’s running to look for the culprit, and someone told him that I’m the main culprit, and then he saw me, I was standing right in front of him, and now he’s going to grab me! I thought all this in one second, and while I was thinking it all through, I was already running from Alexei Akimych as fast as I could, but over my shoulder I saw that he was running after me as fast as he could, and I then ran past the kindergarten, and to the right, and ran around the fungus, but Alexey Akimych rushed across me and splashed through the fountain in his trousers, and my heart sank to my heels, and then he grabbed me by the shirt. And I thought: that’s it, it’s over. And he grabbed me with both hands under the arms and threw me up! But I can’t stand it when they lift me by the armpits: it tickles me, and I writhe like I don’t know who and struggle. And so I look at him from above and writhe, and he looks at me and suddenly declares, out of the blue:

Shout hurray! Well! Shout “hurray” now!

And then I got even more scared: I thought he had gone crazy. And that, perhaps, there is no need to argue with him, since he is crazy. And I shouted not too loudly:

Hurray!.. What's the matter?

And then Alexey Akimych put me on the ground and said:

But the fact is that today the second cosmonaut was launched! Comrade German Titov! Well, not hurray, or what?

Here I'm going to shout:

Of course, hooray! What a hooray!

I shouted so loudly that the pigeons jumped up. And Alexey Akimych smiled and went to his house management.

And the whole crowd of us ran to the loudspeaker and for a whole hour listened to what was being broadcast about Comrade German Titov, and about his flight, and how he eats, and everything, everything, everything. And when there was a break in the radio, I said:

Where is Mishka?

And suddenly I hear:

Here I am!

Indeed, it turns out that he is standing nearby. I was in such a fever that I didn’t even notice him. I said:

Where have you been?

I'm here. I'm here all the time.

I asked:

How's our rocket? Probably exploded into thousands of pieces?

What you! In one piece! It was just the pipe that rattled like that. And the rocket, what will happen to it? It stands as if nothing had happened!

Shall we run and see?

And when we came running, I saw that everything was in order, everything was intact and we could play as much as we wanted. I said:

Bear, and now two, so, astronauts?

He said:

Well, yes. Gagarin and Titov.

And I said:

They are probably friends?

Of course,” said Mishka, “what friends!”

Then I put my hand on Mishka’s shoulder. His shoulder was narrow and thin. And we stood still and were silent, and then I said:

And we are friends, Mishka. And you and I will fly together on the next flight.

And then I went to the rocket, and found the paint, and gave it to Mishka so that he could hold it. And he stood next to me, and held the paint, and watched me draw, and snorted, as if we were drawing together. And I saw another mistake and also corrected it, and when I finished, we took two steps back and looked at how beautifully it was written on our wonderful ship “VOSTOK-3”. .......................................................................................................

Year: 1959 Genre: cycle of stories

Main characters: boy Denis Korablev, Denis's parents and friends

There are several stories in the collection.

It's alive and glowing

The plot of the story revolves around the main character Denis Korablev. The boy spends a long time in the yard, waiting for his mother. She stays late at work or in the store. It’s already starting to get dark, but she’s still not there. Denis stands rooted to the spot and does not move. He is already tired and wants to eat, but he does not have keys to the house, so the child is forced to wait outside.

His old friend Misha Slonov approached Denis. The boy was delighted to see his friend, although for a few minutes he forgot about his loneliness. Bear really liked Denis's toy dump truck. He invites him to barter - to exchange toys, but Denis loves the dump truck, since it is a gift from his father. The bear takes his last chance and gets a live firefly. Denis is delighted with the animal, this is confirmed by his words: “It is alive and glowing.” The boy experiences amazing emotions and enjoys the wonderful glow emanating from the matchbox. Now he is ready to give everything to get it. The bear goes towards the house, and Denis feels less lonely. Next to him was a real living creature.

After some time, mom returned and they went home. Mom was surprised by her son’s action, how he could exchange an excellent toy for some kind of firefly. Although she doesn’t think about the fact that Denis was so lonely and sad waiting for her, and this firefly warmed his soul.

The secret becomes clear

One fine morning, an interesting story happened to Denis. His mother made him eat semolina porridge. But the boy simply hated her. He tried his best to persuade his mother not to eat this dish, but he failed. Mom firmly stood her ground and ordered Denis to eat everything to the last spoon. To cheer up her son, she gives him her word that after breakfast they will go to the Kremlin. But even such a wonderful incentive does not help Denis cope with his aversion to unloved food.

The child tries to salt and pepper the porridge, but this spoils its taste even more and becomes completely inedible. As a result, the boy pours the dish directly out the window. Denis puts the empty cup on the table and rejoices.

Suddenly the doorbell rings and a stranger comes in, completely covered in porridge. Mom looks at this man in shock, and Denis realizes that the trip to the Kremlin has already been cancelled.

The unfamiliar man is indignant and tells them that he was wearing one of his best suits and was going to be photographed, and then, out of nowhere, semolina porridge started pouring down from above.

The story teaches that over time the truth emerges and becomes clear. The consequences of lying can be colossal, so you should tell the truth rather than sweet lies.

From top to bottom - obliquely

Three friends Alenka, Denis and Mishka often played in the yard. In the summer, renovations were underway, and friends helped the builders as best they could. The renovation was coming to an end, and the guys were even sad.

One day, three beautiful girls came in overalls, and they had newspaper hats on their heads. Their names were Sanka, Nelly and Raechka. They were very funny and interesting ladies. They were doing painting work in the yard.

One day Sanka asked the guys what time it was, hearing that twelve o’clock was approaching, the girls got up and went to lunch, leaving the paint and hose in the yard.

At first the comrades doubted and did not touch the paint, but then they became interested. The guys started spraying everything around with a hose, the pressure of the paint flying in different directions. Alenka decided to paint her legs like the Indians. Then the guys got so carried away that they painted the girl’s entire body, right down to her hair. After this, a man came out completely dressed in white. The guys also doused him with paint. He bulged his eyes and did not move from his place, and Denis looked straight into his eyes and continued to hold the hose. Both were shocked by what was happening.

After this incident, all the children had a bad time; their parents did not let them leave the house for a long time. When Denis went out into the yard, Sanya made fun of the boy, suggesting that he grow up faster and work in the same team.

Green leopards

Mishka, Alenka and Denis decided to launch a rocket. For these purposes, they prepared a place in the sandbox. They dug a huge hole, threw glass in there and left room for the rocket itself. Then Mishka suggested digging a side exit so that the gas from the rocket would come out without obstacles. The guys got to work, but soon got tired.

Out of nowhere, Kostya appeared, looking unwell. He had lost a lot of weight and was pale. The friends inquired about Kostya’s health. It turns out that he recently had measles. The guys started asking him questions. The friends began heatedly discussing different types of diseases and their benefits. They love to be sick, because at this time parents buy a lot of toys and regret it. For example, Kostya was allowed to eat a whole jar of jam. Mishka, Alenka and Denis consider chickenpox to be the most fascinating disease, since you can smear yourself with brilliant green and look like leopards. But at the end of the conversation they understand that you can’t ride a bike with a broken leg.

The guys get back to work. Kostya joins them.

A fire in an outbuilding or a feat in the ice

One day Denis and Mishka were late for class. The guys started playing hockey and forgot about time. They began to worry that their parents would be called to school. On the way, they began to come up with various stories that were supposed to justify their lateness. They were very afraid of their teacher Raisa Ivanovna and therefore decided to take such an action. Each of them came up with their own version. At first Denis suggested lying that they went to pull out teeth, but Misha did not approve of this idea. Then Denis wanted to tell him that they were saving a baby from a burning house, but Mishka wanted to tell him that a small child fell under the ice on a pond and he and his friend carried out a rescue operation.

The dispute continued throughout the journey. Without agreeing with each other, everyone began to tell their story. As a result, the stories did not match and it became clear to everyone that the boys were lying. My classmates began to laugh loudly, especially Valera, who had a presentiment of his bad mark for an incorrectly written sentence. Then the class teacher gave the boys bad grades and told them not to lie anymore.

The work teaches you to tell the truth, regardless of whether it is pleasant or not. Sooner or later the truth will become known to everyone.

Tricky way

Denis's mother went on vacation. She is angry that instead of resting, she has to wash dishes three times a day. She tasked her husband and son with finding a way to make her housework easier.

Deniska grabbed his head and began to think hard, while dad sat quietly and listened to the radio, read newspapers and relaxed on the sofa. The boy wanted to come up with a device that could wash and dry dishes on its own. In the end, it didn't work out for him.

This time my mother did not set the table. She threatened that she would not feed her husband and son until they resolved the issue of washing the dishes. Denis was very hungry and promised to reveal the cunning method he had come up with, but only at lunch.

The family began to have dinner, and Denis told about his cunning method. The point was that you need to eat separately, then there will be several times less dishes. Dad will eat, then mom, and finally Denis. Then you only have to wash one cup. The parents laughed. This option was not suitable because hygiene standards were not observed. The boy said that he absolutely does not disdain his relatives. Then the father rolled up his sleeves and called his son. From that moment on, they began to help their mother wash the dishes. This is the simple way my father found.

The action takes place in a bar in Amsterdam called Mexico City. The main character is a certain Jean Baptiste Clamence. He is a former lawyer. The hero offers his help to one of the visitors because he cannot order gin
