Bulgarian singer Kostov. Christian Costov

Christian Kostov is a singer equally associated with Bulgaria and Russia. He gained popularity in adolescence by participating in various music programs and competitions. Among them is the Russian version of “The Voice.” Children" and the Bulgarian "X-Factor".

early years

A singer with a surprisingly melodic name - Christian Konstantinov Kostov - was born in Moscow on March 15, 2000. His mother Zaura is Kazakh by nationality; in 1985 she entered one of the universities in the capital and remained in Russia. Christian spent the summer several times with his grandparents in Astana, so he knows well Kazakh language and easily sang the song “Otan Ana” in a duet with Batyrkhan Shukenov in 2012. Father Konstantin is from Bulgaria, so Christian knows Bulgarian perfectly.

In addition to Christian, the family brought up his older brother Daniel and younger sister Sofia. On my father’s side, all relatives are Christians, and on my mother’s side, they are Muslims, so the family has always been sensitive to both cultures and celebrated both Christian and Muslim holidays.

The family encouraged music lessons, and the parents themselves had good taste in creativity. At the suggestion of his family, the boy went to auditions for Fidgets, a children’s ensemble that gave a start in life to many pop stars: Sergei Lazarev, Anastasia Zadorozhnaya, Lena Katina and others.

First steps to success

Christian rehearsed a lot and willingly with the Fidgets, took additional lessons and performed. At the age of 14, Kostov appeared on the Kremlin stage with other members of the group and Yulia Nachalova. In 2009, the ensemble opened the Moscow Eurovision.

In 2012, the young singer participated in the “New Wave”, representing Bulgaria. A year later, Christian became a participant in the first season Russian project"Voice. Children". At the blind auditions, all three jury members turned to him: Pelageya, Maxim Fadeev and Dima Bilan. Kostov chose the latter as a mentor. The young singer reached the finals, where he lost the victory to Alisa Kozhikina.

The singer again stopped one step from victory: he took second place, although he more than confidently overcame everything initial stages competition.

A year later, Kostov’s first full-fledged professional contract was signed with the music label from Bulgaria “Virginia Records”. Debut single“Ne si za men” (“You are not for me”) did not disappear from radio stations and reached the top of the national chart. Subsequently, the composition had an English version.

After counting all the votes from the audience and the jury, Salvador Sobral from Portugal was named the winner. Many Russian stars congratulated Kostov on his successful performance, including Philip Kirkorov, with whom Christian is often compared, and Nikolai Baskov.

Personal life of Christian Kostov

The contract greatly limits Kostov’s capabilities: too much time is devoted to work. The performer does not complain about this, since he was initially ready to sacrifice personal relationships and understood: fame has a downside.

However, in the summer of 2018, the media reported a romance between Kostov and figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva. They met on the set documentary film about Eurovision, exchanged contacts, appeared together at social events, where, according to eyewitnesses, they did not take their eyes off each other in love. When Medvedeva left to train in Canada, Christian kept in touch with her daily.

Christian Kostov now

Now Christian Kostov is actively preparing for a tour after the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. The news about the approval of his participation became a great gift for him on his 17th birthday. He actively shares his successes with the public on Instagram. You can also see his current photos there.

TV Program magazine became the first publication to which Kristin told about his impressions of performing at Eurovision 2017. Christian Kostov, if anyone has forgotten, is a Euro silver medalist. Now the 17-year-old guy is vacationing in Bulgaria, which, in fact, he represented at the song competition.

— Christian, how is your life going after participating in the show?

- Well, to be honest, I’ve somehow already forgotten about Eurovision, I’m moving forward, my team is working on the next projects, on the next songs, we’re working on the album. In July I'm flying to Stockholm, there in seven different studios with different people I'll be writing songs for a few days. What will come of this is not yet clear. Best compositions We'll leave it for the album. In Bulgaria, during Eurovision, I became a national hero: people recognize me, cars stop on the roads...

— The number of subscribers on social networks has increased.

— Yes, in general, many doors have opened before us. Many wrote, including Nikolai Baskov, Sergei Lazarev... Many Russian stars sent their proposals for cooperation. Well, or they just supported me, they want to stay in touch. Foreign stars, jury members and producers of the British show X-Factor do the same. Some people want my songs to be rotated on various radio stations; they expect new material from me.

— Did Basque and Lazarev really offer to sing a duet?

— Nikolai asked if I was going to sing anything in Russian at all. I don’t know whether it was for cooperation or not, but he said that he really wanted to meet, and then, as they say, we’ll see. Sergey Lazarev simply congratulated and supported. Dmitry Bilan also congratulated. I was on Dima’s team - in the children’s “Voice”. Nice... Bloggers want to collaborate with me, shoot various videos, they immediately called me to “Let Them Talk.”

— Did the fact that you were the youngest participant in the Eurovision contest give you any advantage?

“During the competition, no one treated me condescendingly, never mistook me for a child or singled me out. On the contrary, they demanded more from me, they said: you’re young, come on, work... Although the fact that I turned out to be the youngest Eurovision participant really played into my hands. People are interested when someone stands out in some way.

— Let’s say, from a psychological point of view, it doesn’t bother you that you always fall just short of first place... Bulgarian X-Factor, Russian “The Voice”, “Eurovision”...

- This helps me not to lose my tone and strive for victory all the time. Fight like in last time. I still think that I was worthy of victory both in the Bulgarian X-Factor and at Eurovision. Although... Although I don’t argue: other people were worthy. I am pleased with my second place at Eurovision and I think that everything was absolutely fair. I admire the Portuguese, he has a great song, his own style of singing, he stands out among us all...

-Have you communicated?

- To be honest, no. The team was very protective of the artist, trying not to let him communicate, because he had serious problems with health. The organizers asked us not to comment on this fact at all. Moreover, I for a long time I didn’t even know about the Portuguese, I hadn’t heard of him, he was nowhere to be found... Salvador appeared out of nowhere and won. It was very unexpected.

— Do you consider Eurovision a politicized competition?

— I don’t argue, yes, there is such an aspect. But I think that music won this year - the songs that took the first two positions won (I’m not talking about the performers, including myself, but specifically about the songs). The Eurovision revolution, an unexpected turn of events. True, I didn’t think at all that I would get into the top 5, like the same Portuguese. I thought that a song from Denmark would win, a typical Eurovision hit... It would be logical. Or Italy, or France, which has long been saying that it wants to win. Yes, we expected it to be a political competition, but everything turned out to be completely different. All the people were kind, everyone supported each other, an unexpectedly pleasant atmosphere. I really think that this is a great holiday for all musicians.

— Did you experience any harassment? Were there any provocations?

- None at all.

— By the way, how did the artists react to this prank with their bare butts on stage?

- We didn't even notice. I don't think anyone noticed at all. I learned about this prank after Eurovision. This is, of course, a complete nightmare. Although five years in prison?! Well, I don’t know... Complete nonsense! By the way, I don’t understand how this could even happen. There were a lot of guards there, but the man just went on stage... Thank God that he just showed part of his body, but he could have hit. Be that as it may, in terms of organization everything was perfect. Kyiv received us, artists, simply amazing.

— The Ukrainians weren’t very supportive of you, to put it mildly. This is, to some extent, also politics.

“I hope that they just didn’t like my song, my production... I would like to hope that there were no political motives.”

— Who supported you during the competition?

— Almost half of my family came to Eurovision. They have supported me all my life - in everything. Whatever I choose for myself, my family supports and helps me. I am very grateful to my loved ones. Many of my peers, my friends, my classmates have problems with their parents. No that's not bad parents, they don’t behave strangely. No! They just decide everything for their child, indulging their own whims. I live mine own life, I do what I want, and not what my parents want from me. And this is very pleasant: they trust me, calmly let me go to other countries... No problems! And it's priceless.

— You started studying music by watching your brother play the piano.

— Daniel, in principle, made me a whole. He seriously studied music with me from the moment I got on my feet. My brother was always there, always guiding. I am his copy, we write songs together.

—Where do you spend most of your life? Russia, Bulgaria?

— I don’t have an answer to this question, because everything is very spontaneous. First I live in Moscow for a long time, then in Bulgaria for a long time. I was recently in Madrid, before that in London and Tel Aviv. I travel constantly, perform everywhere and slowly become a man of the world. I don't believe that home is where your homeland is. The Russian mentality burns within me, even the Moscow one, I would say. Moscow is generally a city-power. I can’t imagine my life anywhere other than Moscow. On the one hand, this is a city too crowded with people, where it is very different culture, very different architecture, a city from which sometimes you really want to leave. On the other hand, I understand that I will not be able to live anywhere as comfortably as in Moscow.

— You preferred to study at the local gymnasium.

— Yes, and I’m going to finish school in Moscow. And only then will I go to America to study (in College of Music Berkeley. — Auto.). For four years. But I will definitely return.

— How did you study in preparation for the performance in Kyiv? Did you have to forget about your lessons?

- It won’t work out that way, because I have the Unified State Exam on my nose, and it won’t pass on its own. I studied and study via Skype with teachers. They don't leave me alone, yeah (Laughs.)

— And how often are you in touch with them? Every day?

- Once a week. Unfortunately, there is no time at all. Tonight is the only time in the last month and a half that I have finally found myself at home.

— What kind of offer was it - to split the prize by coming to Moscow if you took first place at Eurovision?

- Many people misunderstood me. I would like to be heard through the TV program. It was just a joke - on bloggers who make these kinds of videos. Like, I received an award for a million subscribers on YouTube - let me break it or, say, cut it in half! This always irritated me, I didn’t understand it. On the other hand, it was a kind of metaphor: if I won, I would like to share the victory with the whole team. Unfortunately, people didn't get the joke. They didn't understand what I wanted to say. This once again confirms my belief that it is better not to say anything unnecessary.

- This is friendship, nothing more. We are like brother and sister. We lived with her during the X Factor, reached the final of the same year, always helped each other, supported each other, were there for each other. It so happened that we are rivals who compete with each other in everything. That's why we are friends and sincerely appreciate each other's work. We are more rivals than friends or colleagues. We compete, and this helps us move forward. We compete in the number of subscribers on social networks and listening to songs.

— So, it turns out that your fans have a chance to meet you and build relationships?

- Certainly! I am free. If you have any thoughts and desires, write to me on Instagram.

—Are you happy about your popularity?

— So far I don’t see any disadvantages - only advantages. I hope everything continues like this.

Christian Kostov began his path to fame early. A talented guy with a bright appearance has long been accustomed to great success and enthusiastic fans. Despite young age, the singer is very popular with the opposite sex. Parents with early years instilled in my son a taste for the best achievements modern music. Songs performed by Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Bryan Adams, Queen, and George Michael were heard in the house.

Christian showed an interest in art very early. Already at the age of 6 he was enrolled in children's vocal group"Fidgets." He performed as a member of this ensemble not only in Russia. The team often went on tours abroad. In 2010, talented guys opened Eurovision in Moscow with their performance.

In the spring of 2017, the young man performed from Bulgaria at the annual prestigious Eurovision Song Contest, held in the capital of Ukraine. As a result, 17-year-old Christian received an honorable second place. Interestingly, after the performance to a young artist it was forbidden to go out and appear in in public places. Due to the increased activity of fans, the guy led an isolated lifestyle for some time.

Personal sympathies

Personal life the bright young man could not remain without public attention. Two years ago, rumors spread on the Internet about his affair with Ragda Khanieva, a participant in the “Voice” project. Children". The young people were already considered a full-fledged couple when the singer made an official denial.

Christian said that between him and Ragda there was nothing more than friendly sympathy, and he called all versions of an affair with her the fabrications of journalists. As proof, the young performer cited numerous joint photos with other girls.

Today on the artist’s Instagram page you can see many hot photos with the relaxed 18-year-old singer and dancer from Bulgaria Dara (Darina Yotova). The Internet audience regards this as nothing more than a manifestation of the romantic mood of the young couple.

Recently, the Rada posted a photo of Christian and his colleagues taken at Eurovision 2017 during the counting of the results. She captioned the photo mysteriously and romantically: “Family.”

Despite all the evidence of mutual sympathy, Christian Kostov continues to claim that he has girls in this moment No. He told reporters that he had no plans to enter into a relationship with anyone in the near future. serious relationship. The young man explains this by a simple lack of time and work on new solo albums.

It’s interesting to know: the guy admitted that he has a far from angelic character. Not every girl is able to withstand his forgetfulness, lack of attention and simply constant physical absence. He admitted that he often forgot about important events, which repeatedly upset his ex-girlfriend. This was the main reason for the lack of stable relationships in his life.

Most recently, the artist entered the prestigious educational institution Boston, and plans to start studying this year. Besides the stage, the guy loves thrill and always welcome extreme pastime. Like an ordinary teenager, he loves to climb to the roofs of skyscrapers and go far into the mountains.
